@KodiHammon That statement is just stupid from inside and out. the thing is Katla, who was the first the vocalist and writer of lyrics, is part of a swedish-speaking minority in Finland so singing in Finnish was never ever discussed. Swedish is Katla's first language therefore he write swedish lyrics
Hedningarna only used the old melody before Finntroll ;)
Wonder why people vote down, I thought it would interest them to know where the melody stems from...noone here interested in the historical aspect huh?
I will try to find the original, got it somehwere on cd, and then upload it.
Folk Metal? Death Metal? Classic metal????? Black metal? Power metal??? (0:15)
WTF!!!!!
Who comes up with this Sh*T? When I was growing up METAL was METAL = METAL. There was no subgenres. There doesn't need to be now. If it fu@king rocks then so be it.
Anybody up for some Acoustic Grind-core? Or how about Death Folk Jazz? My latest craze is American Indian Power Classical Metal Folk with just a hint of Black Country Rock Blues. mmmm... so good! :)
I can see why ur getting annoyed by all of the sub generas of metal, but they are needed. Unfortunately, heavy metal, unlike rap and hip hop, has many different sounds, both in instruments and vocals. Rap is all the same crap, while metal can vary greatly in sound. Acoustic instruments, classical, instruments, folk instruments, ancient (I made that up) instruments... Harsh vocals, screams, growls, clean vocals. Its all just way too different.
Iron maiden sounds different from a metal band like Rhapsody of fire, who sound different from a band like Finntroll or Amon Amarth, who sound way different from a band like Skilltron or Sabaton. You just cant compare them.
So you think RAMMS+EIN, Stratovarius, Týr, Amon Amarth, Arkona, etc. are the same? Where are your ears when you're listening to music? Týr and Arkona are both folk metal, but even they aren't the same.Compare them with the others, you must be deaf if you can't hear the differences
You missed the whole point of my argument. I never said these bands were the same. My problem is with all the labels/sub-genres...Even more than that all the losers who argue over "this band is better than that band", or "this band isn't Black Metal, they're Power metal"... or other such tripe. Yes, I get it that perhaps we need these labels to distinguish bands, but IT IS ALL METAL. And in the end All that matters is... is it good music and do people like it? Labels/genres don't mean a thing.
I guess the argument I was trying to present is not making sense. I know there was, is, always will be subgenres. More will appear as musical styles and sounds get fused even further. My point... subgenres, labels, other marketing type schemes... they all mean nothing. It is the music itself that matters. Music is either good or bad; you either like it or you don't. In the end, if you like a band, who cares what kind of band they are as far as that label goes (subgenre).
@ranXerox09 Haha! I totally forgot about these comments! Can't believe it was already a year ago. I was probably drunk and went off on a youtube rant. :)
Yeah I agree that knowing the subgenres is a cool thing. Thanks for replying to my comment. Forgot about this video and it was nice to hear it again.

P.S. - My ears are always in between the legs of a beautiful woman when I listen to music, so perhaps I am a bit deaf at that moment.
Where are your ears?

@vlanicki it is cool to know the difference between every subgenre... subgenres makes more interesting the main genre, more exciting maybe.
but anyway you are right: the music is what matters
