@ClaudeMichaeldotcom try that with the Piraha and see how it works... sure you get the same result... and that is: we don't give a fuck! Have a good day.
@ClaudeMichaeldotcom Why is it that you people never quote numbers 31 or any of a number of passages where god approves of ethnic cleansing, slavery and rape?
@ClaudeMichaeldotcom your pathetic, seriously, go read the bible and ask yourself if you HONESTLY beleive that shit, if you do, please dont have kids, we dont need anymore goddamn retards
@Icannottolerateit Actually, he is about people being happy and not OVERLY guilt-ridden. As he mentions, Western Civilization for the past 2k years has been all about self-guilt and these people (contrary to what the western school of thought has taught) have a way of living and thinking that contradicts presuppositions. It's not about HIM being happy no matter what, it's about not feeling guilty over things that aren't your fault and things you can't change.
I would recommend Gary Habermas' "The Historical Jesus".
Or you can YouTube search "The Resurrection of Jesus - Gary Habermas".
A search for a historical alternative to the resurrection narrative in the Gospels is very difficult to do when you gather information on it. Bart Ehrman utterly struggles and fails to do this in his book "Jesus, Interrupted".
The Piraha aren't skeptics. They're just blissfully ignorant.
@highwind8124 Yes, people not paying attention to a 2000 year old document full of contradictions, violence, discrimination and fairy tales which defy all scientific logic, *they're* the ignorant ones.
@highwind8124 "Ignorant" like 99 percent of the members of the National Academy of Sciences, you mean? Hehe, in a recent survey among 700 members there, only 6 said that they "believe in God".. : )
They can all have fun trying to explain what caused the Big Bang and why the universe is so fine tuned for life to exist that they would need to retreat into the near infinite multiverse theory to explain it.
@winterstellar Hehe, the very first one I found was called *Fine-Tuned Universe?(Neil Tyson,Leading Astro-Physicist)* It's very funny and quite short..but I saw a video the other that was specifically about what "fine-tuned" means in mathematics/physics, and I'll try to find it for you. Maybe it will help you see that there's no hocus-pocus involved there, like your preacher or whatever tries to imply. OK, till later then..: )
@highwind8124 The argument of a Fine Tuned Universe is a desperate attempt for Apologists. It is easily understood and debunked by anyone who thinks about it for more than 5 seconds. Look at Neil DeGrasse Tyson, or if you want a very simple yet eloquent way of looking at it then look at the writing of Douglas Adams' "Puddle Thinking"
@BrellK Pretty much all forms of Christian apologia are desperate attempts. As the name implies, they're just making excuses to validate the worldview of their cult; defending the faith without a care in the world for whether it is true or not.
@highwind8124 why are they blissfully ignorant? Because they ask for the same measure of proof to a christian's claims as they would anything else that happens in their life? hmmm sounds like a skeptic to me.
@yamsennelg you might think its sad, but his final point illustrates that his newfound faith in humanity is enriching him more thoroughly than his religious faith, so you should feel happy for him!
Matthew 4:4 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Have a good day.

Ecclesiastes 12:13: 13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

@ClaudeMichaeldotcom because fear is the gateway-drug to love and caring, is that it?

@highwind8124 You have misunderstood the meaning of fine tuning in physics. I'll find a video explaining it and give you a link: )
