  • Amazing what myths build a person into. If you know history, you know that Boone spent most of his life in Missouri. Much of the area he settled and developed still bears his name. He was not a big man, but he was proper, well-groomed and had a striking appearance. He defended religious liberty when the French still ruled Missouri and made it possible for Protestants to worship without fear of arrest by the Catholic authority.

My ancestors came to Missouri with the Boone party in 1796.

  • Thank you for sharing such cherished moments. I have watched Daniel Boone all my life and being 50 now that tells you it's always been a favorite of mine. Fess Parker was a true father figure for many of us. I loved how he and Darby had a great relationship on and off the show. I'm thankful this show had an impact on so many people, and wished there were still shows that had standards, morals, and Godly love. We will never forget what this show stood for nor will it be forgotten. God bless you

  • Arrggghhh! The chick with the red hair is gorgeous! I'm jealous, wish I looked like that :(

  • thinking of you...

  • The series ran for six astounding seasons on NBC from 1964 until 1970. A grand total of 165 episodes were produced through Fess Parker's production company,Fespar Enterprises and under Hollywood producer Aaron Rosenberg for 20th Century-Fox Television. Only 32 episodes were in black and white during the show's first season(1964-1965).

  • good times

  • I'm a 6'-5" blond bodybuilder...and even I feel threatened by this song. If Hollywood wanted to do something to make American Men hate themselves and obsess over the shallowest manifestations of masculinity, then this is how they did it. This surely was more effective at destroying the collective spirit and cohesion of American men than all the Marxist propaganda the MSM has ever been able to insinuate into their lives. This has to have been totally alienating/isolating to most men.

  • @megaswenson

"Even I feel threatened", you say. As if to suggest you're the last guy to feel threatened by anything because you're a 6ft 5in blond bodybuilder. That's hilarious. And to say this song "destroyed the collective spirit and cohesion of American men" is nutty. Perhaps it destroyed the collective spirit of all 6ft 5in blond bodybuilders, but the only effect it had on other US males was to make them hum along and watch the show. Threatening? My advice is: ease off the steroids.

  • I am so bummed out right now. I had a crush on Fess. I never missed Daniel Boone and I loved Disney's Davy Crockett. I still have my brother's Davy Crockett cap, Poor thing is so old. It brought a tear to my eye yesterday when I heard he had passed. Rest in peace Fess.

  • We LOVE you Fess!!! Fess Parker Passed away today 3/18/2010. He was an amazing man, wonderful actor and a spectacular role model! He was like a father to my brother Darby Hinton & I during the 6 years he played Darby's father on the Daniel Boone TV show. Our hearts & prayers are with Fess's family. Fess was warmly welcomed into Heaven "Well done good and faithful servant"! LOVE U Fess!!! XXOO

  • Daryn, My wife and I had the pleasure to spend 90 minutes with Fess and his wife Marcy at their Los Olivos Inn two years ago. He was every bit the gentleman, and both he and Marcy have quite a sense of humor. Despite his fame/fortune he was humble as can be, and was so kind that he personally went to his first floor suite at the Inn to retrieve his two standard poodles for my kids to play with while we talked. We were nobody special, just a family staying at his Inn, but he made us most welcome

  • Thanks for posting. God bless.

  • RIP M. Boone

  • had me a Kentucky long rifle as a child fighting along side him we sure will miss him

  • Veronica Cartwright is amazing, charming and very talented actress. Of course her Lambert in Alien was her Top. I always felt sorry for her character

Besides Alien I love Veronica in Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Right Stuff, My Man Adam, Flight of the Navigator, The Witches of Eastwick, Candyman 2, The Last Man on Planet Earth, The X Files (as Cassandra Spender) and many others

  • "The rippinest roarinest fightenest man!"

They could never make a song like that today with all this PC garbage we have to endure... sad.

  • Like most little girls, I loved seeing your brother on tv. Why did we stop making such great shows?

  • Daryn , what does Darby look like today and does he fondly recalls his childhood on the Daniel Boone set?

  • Yes Darby Hinton is my brother :)

  • @DarynHinton This is funny but back about 1966 or 1967 i got to ride on some rides at a fair with your brother.. fess parker was there that day but i did not get to meet him ,, this was in ramona Ca , I remember your brother had on that vest with the fringes . But i thought he was going to get sick on me on the ride called the scrambler .. Wow it seems like a thousand years ago ..

  • Daryn..thanks so much for this...is Darby your brother?

  • Yes, Darby is my brother :) & I think the world of him!

  • omg israel is sooooo cute!!!!! i have a picture of him in my room!!!

  • my dad LOVES DB he got all of his tapes 4 christmas. omg he has been watchin thiose things. And drivin me crazy

  • That Patricia Blair was the next best thing to Rhonda Fleming; she and Fess were both born in my hometown - and what were the chances of that?!

  • My teacher was Stanley Boon his descendant who's retired and lives near Diamond Head. Oddly enough I found out the Daniel Boone did surveying for my Ancestor Hickman was involved with him in the earliest Kentucky settlements. Dan Boone in person was much smaller

Fess was also the real deal, he seemed like a normal guy and Pat Blair was a babe. What's your hometown?
