  • I went to Normandy - some of the most moving things I've seen; truly inspiring what people (young people) will do. That's why there's only young people in Armies.

  • It is incredible how silly were the scripts of the war movies before the years '80. And even more incredible how the public was available to pay for it...

    For example:

3:54 a german grenade explodes very near the Yankees = no one dead

4:24 the yankee grenade kills the german many meters far away, and the germans don't die at the same time...

    SHAME on this movie

  • 8:39-8:40 - what did the Germans say? Bitte? Please or something? And shooting surrendering prisoners?!

  • @HeirofGojira91 The Germans were trying to surrender but the American didn't realize it. Where was their white flag? How would the American know that "Bitte bitte" means "Please, please?"

  • I've been there! its the best d-day beach if you go there( all of the bunkers are still there!! same with the bomb craters!

  • @bud467 that and pegasus bridge are my favourite.

  • 4.16: is it Clint Eastwood? =)

  • Call of duty 2

  • I lol'd @ 8:57

  • A true classic ^^

  • cool

  • they are brave men your talking about here. I don't think you have the guts going to war. you'll pisss your pants before going into battle guys.

  • HEROES

  • This isn't indicative of what actually happened. The ropes that the grappling hooks were attached to got wet on the drive to point du hoc. The wetness weighed them down so much the grappling hooks didn't get over the mountain. Luckily there were a few that were dry enough.

  • @riptorrex 56 were supposed to be launched. only 11 of the ropes made it on to the cliff.

  • US Ranger=Ninja with climbing gear.

  • i would of hated to climb that shit.... let alone being shot at

  • that mission is harder than omaha beach!!! :O

  • YAAAYYY!!!! Thanks for sharing!! Finally i found the scene in which appears the divine Paul Anka! Although this is a serious film, Paul here makes me laugh because he shoots with his tongue out! Why?

By the way, can someone tell me how and where can i find these movies: "Look In Any Window", "Girls Town", "The Private Lives Of Adam and Eve", "Make A Room For Daddy (part 3)" ? Unfortunately here in Italy are not found. The only film i've found is "The Longest Day" Thanks!

  • This was a great film of its time. This part was filmed to appeal to the "kids": lot's of action and casted with "teen idols" of the day: Paul Anka, Fabian, Tommy Sands, and Robert Wagner. (It would be like casting Justin Bieber and Robert Pattison in Saving Private Ryan.) However, this was an extremely expensive film and its producer wanted it to appeal to as broad an audience as possible to recoup his investment. So you have Fabian as an Army Ranger!

  • im been there in real en there wehere so many craters :O

  • epic movie like Saving private ryan

  • @Gamea650 no... better than SPR

  • @Gamea650 The difference between this and Saving Private Ryan is that The Longest Day tells the complete story of the D-Day landings, while Saving Private Ryan shows the brutal landing on Omaha Beach (in colors) and I have heard that many WW2 veterans who have seen that movie went out of the cinema to either cry or throw up...

  • i was there at pointe du hoc some years ago.. unbelievable that those guys climbed up there under heavy fire! a lot of huge bombcraters too over there too..

  • thanks for this what a wonderful movie

  • ROFLMAO! The guy practically wanted to go on the top of the guy! WTF? It even looked like he kissed him! Well, that what happens when you watch an old movie with exaggerated actors. Although i respect them.

  • I hate heights... give me Omaha or Utah Beach any day... not Point Du Hoc.

  • @animegamer77

Hate to break it you Omaha Beach was surrounded by cliffs that were 100-170 ft high

  • @snakes3425 hate to break it to ya. i went their. your thinking of pointe du hoc. i went to utah omaha and pointe du hoc. only the Pointe had cliffs bro

  • @animegamer77 what would you rather do solider storm a German beach with cliffs or be a paratrooper dropped 4 hours b4 the beach landing not much options unless u wanna take gold, sword and juno like a british canadian bitch

  • @GFORCEpackattack That's true... but you get shot and fall how many feet? That's a bit of an overkill if you ask me.

  • @animegamer77 ill tell u whats over kill my grandpa was a d day paratrooper got his nuts shot off while decending and when he finaly hit the ground the germans rounded him up off to Dachau concentration camp luckly the 45 div busted him out latter in the war

  • @GFORCEpackattack Good God... Are you serious?

  • @animegamer77 this aint no movie script this is a real story of what was asked of pvt..samp milwaukee wi he never gave details just the basic facts of what he went through as a member of the greatest generation and every night in his sleep all he would do was scream blood curling war cries and n random questions to his commanders n chiefs n what not i dont mean to bash you but your getin shot is no overkill compared to the horrors my gramps went through thus my dad and aunt were adopted

  • @GFORCEpackattack my uncle was 17 when he landed. he was E company 2nd battalion of the rangers. my grampa battle of the bulge. i didnt understand what you put anyways lol

  • @animegamer77 Seriously. We have enough weeaboos and gamers here. GTFO my internets boi!

  • "Blessent mon coeur d'unlangeur monotone" It could be well said that many years after his death, Verlaine helped bring down the Third Reich.......

  • @billace90 Sorry, but you are wrong... We, in occupied countries, heared dayly code-sentenses from the BBC, (each in his own laguage) on hidden radios'...But, we did not know what it meanth, just the partisans knew it.

For instance: (in Dutch) "apen kunnen zeer hoog klimmen" (apes can climb very high); "de melk loopt over" (the milk is boiling over) "de slager heeft 2 koeien geslacht" (the butcher has slaughtered 2 cows).

Such things, I heared it daily during WW ll

  • and to think queers still want to enlist

  • I wonder what Bidda-Bidda means. Best line

  • im pretty sure that bunker is still there

  • i like the sound of WW2 guns

  • The older films always seem more realistic.

  • @bestshowontheweb u wanna see a non holluywood movie?

watch brotherhood of war, its a korean film but it has subtitles and by god is it ever a fucked up movie, gory as all hell but is it ever a good movie

  • @jonlscott No, but I was sayin' that this is way more realistic then saving private ryan and that kind of stuff

  • I split The Longest Day in two because you can start from part two since it introduces the other 21 guys. Part 1 is the planning and part 2 is the Battles.

The Longest Day part 2 is my favorite war movie. All Quiet on the Western Front(1979) i thought was better than All Quiet on the Western Front(1930). The 1930 one isnt in my top 10 but the 1979 version is my #3 next to When Trumpets Fade which is #2 and The Longest Day Part 2. Saving Private Ryan is my #5, The Omaha Beach scemne in it wasnt

  • Interesting that this was one of the worst battles for america ever and yet almost no americans die.

  • Movie or no movie, it were brave men, to risk their on life for total strangers!!!

    Bikefreak ~~

  • My father was at D-Day. He was one of those that parachuted behind the lines the night before the landing. He told me that calling this an "invasion" is incorrect. They referred to it as a "landing" at the time. The reason being is that one invades an enemy, and the landing took place on the beaches of France, which was our ally during WWII. Since you don't "invade" an ally, it was always referred to as "the landing."

  • Fantastick movie!

  • my only problem with this movie wasan explosion lands right next to a guy and it doesnt kill or wound him. other bthan that this is the best war movie ever made

  • @Snako85 I think the best war movie ever with amazin explosions and realistic deaths is the WW1 movie called "All quiet on the western front" from the 30's. I think they made the actors run through almost real bombs jaja, check it out, is awesome.

  • @SergioWW1WW2 sorry i didnt reply just read my comment below this cuz that was my response. And to continue what i said The Omaha Beach scene wasnt all that good but i wont get into the details

  • Its amazing how the german lost the battle.

  • You know, if the Germans were able to keep the allies on the beach, the invasion wouldve failed

  • its funny how they just die when they havent been hit by the 'nades

  • 8:40 "I wonder what Bitte Bitte means?" XD

  • Great Film!!!!!!! WAR is no place for rules of engagement or gays its WAR kill or be killed i can just see the communist media of dan rather and the other losers saying the boys are dying lets go home lets not put up a fight lets just peace this all away peace will solve it all you cant talk to bulets

  • this film is amazing! I have already watched it several times, especially when I was young, but now that I see it at a more "mature" time of my life, I'm much more realising what an incredible sacrifice those allied soldiers did, so that we now can live in peace!! I'm so much thankful to them!

How are called these kind of propelled grappling irons that they used to climb to the top of the cliffs? How does it work?

  • @xavierob it's called a grappling hook you throw it up something and hope it get stuck somewhere

  • wtf at the acting

  • 4:15 aww smooch!

  • Stereo sound?

  • fucken funny movie hahaha Germans were not so stupid, as shown in the movie

  • @strongSLO They're stil less stupid than in most movies, fictionnal or historical, about the time (Battle of the Bulge, Where eagles dare, Inglorious Basterds ...). They're not really depicted as canon fodder here, but they surely have less screentime than most of the British and Amercian cast.

  • @dansvidco The clickers are small details, I think the OKW's mistakes were more important and decisive.

  • @deusirae76

The German High Command, historically speaking, made a lot of mistakes. Many of which led to the German soldiers being placed in hopeless situations where they were cut to pieces or forced to commit hopeless attacks. They did get their act together. The reason why the acting is forced as well is because of the lack of clear indication of getting "hit" so it was overrepresented on purpose. The Rangers are shown here getting hammered as well

  • @SaladofStones True. There was a major disagreement between Rommel and Rundstedt about the way to "welcome" the Allies before the landings : Rommel wanted to keep them on the sea, while Rundstedt wanted to counter-attack in the hinterlands.

  • the sacrifices made that day should nevefr be forgotten

  • Great movie for its time! Not like that crappy Spielberg propaganda.

    Thanks for the upload!

  • @VitaminsAndPiss All war movies are some sort of propaganda, including this one. However, it depicts well all the warring nations, especially the Germans' countless mistakes.

  • @deusirae76 Yeah but Spielbergs bullshit is REALLY facsist propaganda.

  • i love this film i have seen all of it

  • I didn't know battlefields were so quiet. No one is shouting anything, in English or German.

  • @nick3812 They're probably too busy concentration on not getting shot.

  • FUUUUUUCCCCKK

  • Why the hell are you wearing a life preserver?

  • @s2player He cant swim XD haha!!!!

  • I thought those rope shooters were on the boats...?

  • Thats very unreal, from the nazis are dying all, and the armys ... 3 or 4

In history the armys landed with 225 soldiers and left pointe du hoc with 90 operational soldiers

  • Great movie.

  • thats paul anka.....im having his baby

  • Lol, I guess when people got shot back then, they had some sort of stimulation to throw their hands up in the air.

  • hahaha i noticed that to, they did that in all queit on the western front to lol

  • @killamonkey

What if they get hit by an artillery shell? Do a couple of flips lol

  • @killamonkey LOL. It happens to every war movie.

  • @killamonkey Umm, people tend to react especially when their nerves are about to go dead so they twitch or cling for their chest which is hurting as it's been shot the fuck up with lead.

Sure, Hollywood exaggerates but it's not far from the truth

  • Comment removed

  • "that means we come out for nothing?" ------ the movie is WRONG, the guns had actually moved inland, and the ranger had to fight more battles to silent them out.

  • @barrhavener the Army Rangers there didnt know that but later found them. it shows in the movie just not the scene

  • @Snako85 this is true, there were guns in that area and the rangers destroyed them with thermite grenades, they were not at the point but they prevented the guns from ever getting there. The movie makers were afraid of glorifying war so they made it look pointless, which it wasn't, the truth is often harder then the fiction.

  • well for 1962 that was pretty good
