My fave album of the moment: 'All Days Are Nights' - Rufus Wainwright :)

  • Thank You: Canterbury's debut album (it was/ may still be a free digital download.)

Music for an Accelerated Culture: Hadouken!'s debut album. This album was a huge influence on my life sophomore year of college.

  • So many of those are great great choices! To add just a few. Pink Floyd - The Wall and Wish You Were Here. Awesomesauce each of them. Under the Pink was my Tori Amos album of choice. I had it on a tape for my Junior Cert year (15-16 yrs old along time ago) and on the other side I had Kirsten Hirsch Hips and Makers. They suited each other and spoke to my angsty teen self. One last suggestion is a song "Do you remember the first time?" by Pulp. Gets me everytime!

  • haha well limiting myself to albums you didn't already mention some of my favorites are: The Sunset Tree by The Mountain Goats, All Day by Girl Talk, and Aim and Ignite by Fun.

  • You have hit my weakspot. Music. I so can relate to you. And I have quite a few that you just mentioned and will check those i don't Keane-what a fantastic band! It is impossible for me to pick a favorite. I am older and have too many to pick one. I think that the Beatles are above everyone else. And while i am a fan of many mainstream artists, i still love finding the small, maybe not so well known, but fabulous bands. I will talk music with you anytime.

  • I subscribed because of this video!!!

    I love music.

and I like the way you talk.

  • you have a great taste in music!

I'm really into this band called Gin House right now. they just have a few demos out.

They were previously named Brandon Clark & the American Standard and have an EP called Honestly which is GREAT. Also both of Brandon Clark's solo EPs.

and since you like Radiohead, I really like their album Hail to the Thief. and also Intimacy by Bloc Party is good.

  • Everyone, be sure to check out the amazing gay Dutch Artist Wouter Hamel from Amsterdam! Listen to his song "Don't Ask" featured on my channel, very appropriate lyrics and his song "My Demise" @ Tivoli in my favorites. His song Live @ Barcelona also in favorites "When morning comes" is about 2 gay kids running away makes me cry. I have many of his videos as favorites...so I hope your enjoy!!! His web page and twitter is: hamelmusic

  • Alt/Grunge bc of its depth hidden by simplicity and some Alt/Rock. It seems to be a different genre than your usual but I am pretty sure you will like something on each album. You will recognise some songs from the radio.

People dont realize that most of these lyrics are actually poetry.

    Nirvana - In Utero

Seether (Aka Saron Gas) - Fragile

Foo Fighters - Self titled first album

    Puddle of Mudd - Famous

Hope this expands your musical palette (sp?)

    cheers,

    -Malloy

  • I know you have a load of recommendations already but give Frank Turner - Love Ire & Song a listen. That man is my favourite musician ever, I've loved him ever since his old band Million Dead. After going solo about 5 years ago, he's still blowing my mind to this day. LI&S is probably his best album to date. Also Oasis What's The Story...was a really important album for me, so great isn't it!

  • Anything by Silver Jews!

  • Dionysos - La Mécanique du Cœur.

  • I'm more of a musicals type of person. Sister Act (the Broadway version), Next to Normal, The Phantom of the Opera, Wicked (there was a good six months where I must have listened to No Good Deed five times a day).

When I was in college, everyone could tell I wasn't from the city of Quincy because I pronounced it "kwin-see" (like John Quincy Adams) when it's apparently supposed to be pronounced "kwin-zee". Local accents are weird sometimes.

  • Total Life Forever - Foals

For Emma, Forever Ago - Bon Iver

    In Rainbows - Radiohead

    Self Titled - Fleet Foxes

Favourite Worst Nightmare - Arctic Monkeys

I was surprised Bon Iver wasn't on your list! I remember you saying how much you liked him, and For Emma is probably one of my favourite albums of all time. Great list!

  • Jared: I'll share with you a sad Sufjan Stevens song that is so rare, I could find it only on You Tube. It's called: "Opie's Funeral Song". Here's a couple of other Sufjan songs that are easy to play on the guitar: "Romulus" (Greetings from Michigan) and "To Be Alone With You" (Seven Swans)

  • Homesick by A Day to Remember, not sure that you'll like it, but damn I do <3

  • Nice :) Try some of mine:

Sigur Ros - () (unnamed album from 2002)

Eileen Chaos - (She didn´t released any album yet, she has like 9 songs and they are, well, brilliant)

Apocalyptica - Path, Reflections (don´t say no, just try them)

    Noisecut - BLIIIZKO (2008)

Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur (2007) Crimson Wing (2008)

  • I'll just identify my favorites on your list - I am a lot older than you so I have had favorites since the '60s, but from your list, I love almost anything by Bright Eyes and Death Cab for Cutie.

  • Nelly Furtado--Folklore

I heard this album in the sixth grade and have listened to it ever since. I did not download it to my computer on purpose so I could hear the actual CD everytime I listen. Something about listening to the same CD you did 10 years ago makes me feel so good.

  • 1. Soviet Kitsch - Regina Spektor

    2. Music for Tourists - Chris Garneau

    3. Moon Over the Freeway - The Ditty Bops

    4. Speak For Yourself - Imogen Heap

    5. Blue - Joni Mitchell

    6. Pieces of You - Jewel

    7. Jagged Little Pill - Alanis Morissette

I can't shorten that list any more. At all.

  • Set Yourself on Fire - Stars

Billy Talent I - Billy Talent

    Crisis - Alexisonfire

I always go back to these three.... Stars is the best though

  • Journey's greatest hits has been an album I've listened to throughout my life, and I started listening to Robyn's body talk. Amazing music!!

  • Bennie and the Jets by Elton John (I love all of Elton John's music.)

This song reminds me of my friends and family during the summer just having a good relaxing time. No matter what mood I'm in or what time of day it is, if i listen to this song, i will be in such a joyful mood afterword.

  • Strange and Beautiful by Aqualung, you will LOVE IT!! and I wonder if you enjoy Queen at all, 'cause if you do then listen to Mika. Great stuff, great stuff.

  • KEANE HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE SINCE I WAS 12! I freaked when you mentioned them!

  • Songs in the Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder is a near perfect album. and Dog Problems by the Format was my high school obsession!

  • Let me preface what I'm about to say by letting you know I think you are very cute. Ok, you look a lot like Alyson Hannigan, especially your mouth! Sorry for the preface, I just wanted to make sure you didn't take it negatively :)

  • "Wonder" by Lisa Mitchell and "I Love Your Glasses" by Russian Red, Enjoy! n_n

  • Good to see Ween on there, I remember your cover of Baby Bitch, good shit.

  • O My Heart - Mother Mother

  • Okay...enjoying your VEDA.

As I was a late comer to the music scene, thank you mother and father, I did not start truly appreciating artists until I started dating my partner. 17 years later and I have to say,"NINE INCH NAILS...Pretty Hate Machine" we were into DR. Martens, coloring our hair, piercing, and the local Boulder, CO. punk scene.

  • Grace by Jeff Buckley is my all time favorite.

  • Do you like any album from Matchbox Twenty?

  • I will second Sia's "Some People Have Real Problems" and Florence + The Machine's "Lungs." Since you already know Sufjan, Tori, and Regina, I probably don't have to tell you to check out all their other albums. Instead I'll suggest a few more which may be not be totally accessible but the songwriting is great: Neko Case's "Middle Cyclone," Joanna Newsom's "Have One On Me," Matt Nathanson's "Some Mad Hope"... I could go on and on. Don't forget Paula Cole, Fiona Apple, and Ben Folds!

  • @ryansmith83 Middle Cyclone <3

  • Illinoise. Yes. So much yes.

  • Robyn's "Body Talk" was my remedy to all the Lady Gaga overplay, and Adele's "21" is my recent favorite.

  • Make Yourself- Incubus.

  • You want to listen to: Parachutes - Your stories.

    Just really nice music.

  • Recent favourites are Florence + the machine - Lungs and Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More

  • @CptJacklovesme Sigh No More is so good.

  • Lykke Li will change your life...

  • Communitychannel showed a fake album of herself, called ''Songs for your Mum''.

If it were real It would be my favourite.

  • @Auringossasiisain agreed.

  • I LOVE Bell & Sebastian.. i think we've talked about this before.. and Sam's Town by The Killers is pretty cool. LOVE "Plans" by DCFC.

  • Belle & Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister" is my favourite album of all time. I could listen to it forever.

  • we wanna know about your love life!!!

  • absolution by muse

  • "this is the sea" by the waterboys.... really, anything by the waterboys, but that's probably still my favorite.

  • You might like

    OneRepublic- Waking Up

    Nural-Entitlement

    Andrew Belle- The Ladder

  • Wintersleep's "Untitled'

Also, "Quebec" is pronounced either "Kuhbec" if you want to keep it in the English realm, or "Kébec" which is the proper way to say it.

When you pronounce the "qu", it kills us Quebecers. Just a little.

  • @rockpaperstuuph People are the same way in my city. Boise. Boy-see. Not 'Boy-zee'. We get surprisingly upset about it. So I will say Kuhbec, or, when speaking French, Kébec out of respect :)

  • Good list!! Here are two albums you might like.

    1) Coming to Terms - Carolina Liar

    2) Fixin to Thrill - Dragonette

  • When I was 10 I listened to Aqua :|

Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People

    Justice - Cross

  • You should listen to Begin To Hope by Regina and Lungs by Florence + the machine.

  • Oh dear God, I love Far so much, I have it in both normal and deluxe edition. Regina Spektor changed my view over the true artistic value of a music artist. And Radiohead and Coldplay.........

  • also fav album, suicide season - bmth,

its cliche as shit but i don't care

  • you did druggggggss

  • Blind Guardian- At The Edge Of Time

    It's a good one.

  • I'm sort of weird about music. When people talk about music like this I always feel like a freak because to me music has never been anything more than background noise. I listen but I don't really pay attention nor care about it.

  • Mashlin - "Pushing Through the Seasons"

Absinthe Glow - "Abisnthe Glow" THIS is one you should definitely check out, they're a small band but they're first album is just amazing!

  • Dead Can Dance - Toward the Within (4AD)

David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive (Virgin, I think)

Two of the most remarkable albums ever. I really really hope you look into at least the Dead Can Dance, there are great videos from the album here on youtube (a great intro: watch?v=itwL5y0He-k ) I just watched that and it again brought tears to me eyes.

  • Me'shell Ndegeocello- "Comfort Woman", "The World Has Made Me the Man of My Dreams" and "Devil's Halo", "Bitter", I love all of her music <3

  • Ermm.. this is difficult xD

    Every Nirvana album ever

Poetry of the Deed - Frank Turner

    and...

Hours - Funeral For A Friend

but there is so many more D:

  • ok I've got a fairly varied taste in music, I wont say eclecticc because that word is over used, but these are albums i think u'll like and think you should listen to.

  • Adele 21

  • @salsapoppet wow, everyone really like 21. I should get it. I loved 19.

  • @PickThisCar You really should, it's amazing.

  • Two Way Monologue by Sondre Lerche

  • These comment boxes really are too small. ;)

    - Hooverphonic's first 4 albums (songs like Inhaler, Battersea, Electro Shock Faders, This Strange Effect are just beautiful).

    - Everything by Ludovico Einaudi

    - Hybrid Soundsystem's I Choose Noise and Disappear here

    - H Is Orange's The Thrill of Escape

Yes, my music taste is all over the place but do check out Hooverphonic if you can. ('A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular', 'Blue Wonder Power Milk', 'The Magnificient Tree') You might like them.

  • For a second, I read the title as VEDA25 and thought "What? Have I really slept through half of April!?". ;)

I love how you associate albums with certain time periods in your life. I have the same effect with songs that remind me of what was going on in my life when I first discovered them.

Favourite albums ... that's a tough one. Pink Floyd's PULSE, BT's This Binary Universe, E.S. Posthumus' Unearthed, The Script (both albums), Tom Milsom's Explorers 4 (free)... too many to list here,

  • Favourite Albums: 19 - Adele Blackout - Britney Spears beautifulgarbage or Bleed Like Me - Garbage Truth, Beauty and a Picture of You, The best of - The Whitlams She Will Have Her Way: The songs of Tim & Neil Finn (Look it up, Amazing!) I would definetly say my favourite personal album that changed my life is Snakes and Arrows by Rush, amazing album.

Also i think one of the most heartfelt, emotional, and just beautiful albums ever is Century Child by Nightwish. I would certainly recommend checking them out they are INCREDIBLE!!!!!

What They Do For Fun by The Ropes

    3121 by Prince

Life in Cartoon Version by Mika

"For Emma, Forever Ago" by Bon Iver

    "Kaleidoscope Heart" by Sara Bareilles

    "Everybody" by Ingrid Michaelson

"Songs for a Sinking Ship" by April Smith and the Great Picture Show

"Sigh No More" by Mumford & Sons

  • Panic! At The Disco A Fever You Can't Sweat

  • I love music, i love listening to it, playing it, and making it.

My top favorites would have to be Robert Palmer, Sia, Mindless Self Indulgence,Diablo Swing Orchestra, and Electric Six. A lot of variation in my favorites.

  • Oh, Christ ....

    Somewhere near the top:

original soundtracks for West Side Story and Jesus Christ, Superstar.

Currently digging Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More.

Can't ignore Zepplin IV or Peter Gabriel's So. Oooh, how 'bout Rum, Sodomy & The Lash by the Pogues? But possibly most of all: ¿What, by Stuart Davis.

  • Even though it's an instrumental album, This Binary Universe by BT is easily my favorite. It's worth buying it because it comes with a DVD with all the songs in a high-def audio format (it's in surround sound) and a video for each song (they're technically music videos, but they're so artistic that the term "music video" doesn't really feel like it applies here). If you've listened to BT's music before and think it's just cheesy trance music, this album is very different from his others.

  • @GodofVengence also just another 5 (off the top of my head):

    Vespertine by Bjork

Brazilian Girls by Brazilian Girls (it's not at all serious or thought provoking, but it's just so goddamn fun)

Entroducing by DJ Shadow (an album made entirely out of samples)

And their Refinement of the Decline by Stars of the Lid (yet another instrumental, deeply affecting music, also dreamlike)

The Pariah, the parrot, the delusion by Dredg (it's basically an album for atheists)

  • Mr. A-Z by Jason Mraz. Jason Mraz being an artist I started with when i was eleven I own all his CD's, as in I didn't download them, and he's the only person I do that for.

  • Sum 41 - Chuck. It was my life in high school haha.

  • ill do a top 5...even thats hard :X

pretty. odd- Panic! -stil know every word by heart

3 doors down-the better life first CD i ever bought i was i believe ...8?

    parachute- losing sleep

this will destroy you- this will destroy you

  • Josh Groban- Live at the Greek

Song: "Lullaby" by lady black smith mambazo, and Josh Groban. I was changed. :)

  • It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who enjoys both indie(ish?) music and Coldplay/Keane. I've listened to "Under the Iron Sea" about a million times by now, yet I am still not sick of it.

Someone mentioned Fiona Apple - I really like "Extraordinary Machine," and I imagine (based on this list) that you will too.

I don't really listen to anything that I liked between the ages of 10-16 anymore, because I had terrible taste (lots of emo and commercial rock). Still like the Beatles, though.

  • OOOOOOOOOHHH!?!??!?!? u like Keane too???they have been my favorite band for years but i never met another person who liked them

  • J.S. Bach - Oboe Concertos, Cologne Chamber Orchestra (Naxos)

Mozart - Requiem, Berliner Philharmoniker (Deutsche Grammophon)

Tito Schipa - The Greatest Tenors (Award)
