My 1981 CX500C was equiped with 2 front disc brakes... and despite this i found the baking power miserable ...I drive this bike long time up to 80 000km without problems before sale it and swich to a Guzzi California...
I had those exact same engine guards, but when I got in a wreck they destroyed my fan shroud. Ended up getting rid of them.....hurt more than they helped. Just a friendly heads up.
There are two bolts under the seat(one on each side) , they may also secure the chrome tube that wraps around the rear of the seat. Thats ok, remove them and pull the seat up and back.
Also, do yourself a favor and get an after market service/repair manual. A company called "Clymer" prints a good one. A manual like this will give you step by step instuctions to do just about any thing on your CX500.
