COWON A3 Overview

How good is the quality when you record? I might buy one second hand because I need a portable PVR or DVR, and none of the modern stuff has video recording features. Archos seems to have stopped including recording feature too.

my cowon a2 is not turning on. after welcome screen a cowon a2 pic with a red cross on it appears.

I brought my A3  (after my A2 bricked itself i) n June 2008. Awsome but sadly now the power button is damaged and the headphone connection is faulty. Now I have the Cowon J3 for music and a 13.3 inch HP Envy laptop for movies as I fly alot in my job in Aus . Never tried 720p clips in the A3 but I always heard it had mixed results.

i bought one, broke after 3 months (batt expand HDD fail), cowon refused to repair as SHOP WAS CLOSED DOWN, so i bought a larger 80GB samsung HDD and new batt and power cables for 60EUROS

cowon makes awesome pmps. they even have super small touch screens. they blow apple or any other company out of the water.

Expensive? Really? The 30 and 60gb models are less than 300 and the 80gb is just a little over 300. MUCH cheaper than when I bought my 60gb a year ago for almost 400(still worth every damn penny). It's a steal now.

I see what you're saying, if you want to operate the player without looking at it, like pause while it's in your pocket, a touch screen is useless.

it's fantastic when it works but there are some bugs in it that haven't been fixed. Like the white screen of death and it takes like 24 hours to charge it via USB

Unfortunately the A3 software is very buggy and Cowon don't appear to offer any support for Western users.

it could support video file with 1280x720 resolution, but the screen resolution itself is 800x480...

i love cowon just for supplying an ac adaptor so you dont have to start up a comp. its very convenient when you travel and you go to a hotel or something.

i have a question to users??

How is the battery life??I know that A2 has 13 hours of video and 10 hours of audio battery life,but A3 is 5,5-6 hours of video and 9 hours of audio battery life..But i don't know how much it's true???

I have an A3. The thing is awesome. You don't realize how awesome it is until you buy yourself some nice headphones (I like the in ear canal ones) and you realize that you just have to copy paste all your stuff over instead of having to convert.  The video reviews and stuff really don't do it justice.

No one wants to sit around and wait 2 hours for a 1 hour 30 minute movie to transcode (coughipodcoughcough). Now that I have my A3, I find myself watching movies all the time on the go.
