The "stopping a massacre" defence for the intervention is total bs. Gaddafi just wanted to stay in power longer and offered an AMNESTY to any rebels who gave up. He said they would be "forgiven and not pursued".
Before Gaddhafi got to the gates of Benghazi, he had pushed the rebels out of several towns and cities in Eastern Libya i.e. Misrata and at no time since that conflict has it be found that Gaddhafis troops committed mass rapes or murders. This means that prior to NATO's intervention, if Gaddhafi truly wanted to kill the people who had risen up against him, he'd have done it in all the cities he wrested from the rebels prior to NATO's intervention but, this is not the case.

The "stopping a massacre" defence for the intervention is total bs. Gaddafi just wanted to stay in power longer and offered an AMNESTY to any rebels who gave up. He said they would be "forgiven and not pursued".

Before Gaddhafi got to the gates of Benghazi, he had pushed the rebels out of several towns and cities in Eastern Libya i.e. Misrata and at no time since that conflict has it be found that Gaddhafis troops committed mass rapes or murders. This means that prior to NATO's intervention, if Gaddhafi truly wanted to kill the people who had risen up against him, he'd have done it in all the cities he wrested from the rebels prior to NATO's intervention but, this is not the case.

The most important thing to realize about this video and the conflict in Libya, is that the "imminent massacre of Benghazi" was a BIG LIE. There was no evidence that a Srebnica-like massacre was in the making. Reports that Gaddafi had bombed his own people from the air have been discredited too, as have reports that he was using "mass rape as a weapon". The UN refused invitations from the Gaddafis to investigate all this properly, and just allowed NATO to start bombing. It's all well documented
