I wouldn't say they created Power Metal alone, many bands laid the foundations for what we now know as Power Metal, they blueprinted the European, "more flowery" form of Power Metal but there were some bands here and there (Jag Panzer, Stormwitch, Manowar) hinting Power Metal sounds before this album.
Well sure, even some Iron Maiden songs have a very power metal-ish feel about them, what I mean is they took that and defined it into an actual genre rather than some vague heavy/speed kinda label, and Kai Hansen isn't known as the grandfather of power metal for nothing ;)
@Xaltheron He's known as the grandfather of European Power Metal, not Power Metal as a whole, since there were bands before Helloween playing what we now know as Power Metal, more of a USPM approach.
@Deghinsea132 Look, I'm not trying to write a detailed historical article here, this is just my own opinion and take on things, and I've met many others who think the same. There are a number of bands that can take credit for creating power metal, but for me Helloween and Kai Hansen will always be the ones who really kickstarted the genre, if you don't believe so, then no probs.
awesome song!
