If by money you mean RL currency, nope. If by in-game currency, yes hex upkeep and bidding cost money however there is no real money sink in the game so it really ends up being a non issue (that in it self is another major design flaw in the aspect of economics).

As for your 40k tickets is not even enough to buy full conquest gear for one character, IE not alot. And no 200k is pretty close to shit broke (my statement on inflation corralates to this), average vet player has about 2-4mill not includeing agency banks. Any other questions?

@jakejanne The actual game is pretty good. The trial is kinda lame because like any MMO, it's at its peak when you're at the higher/highest level, not when you're running through tutorials/scrub groups at a low level cap.

@jakejanne Coming from an avid FPS player and a casual MMO player, I would say the controls were fine, if a little unintuitive, and I didn't notice any class based imbalances, but then again I played recon which is a pretty independent class.

@FrostBeam009 Recon is "considered" the least useful class, so if you're going to reroll something else, do it now. Robotics are always in high demand. Im playing an assualt at lvl32 but do PvP to level up too, much quicker at low levels and really good fun :)

Steam users don't have to pay for AvA until March 3rd (they may extend that date... check their emailings).. after that, you can still PvP and PvE for free, but will have to subscribe to get AvA

I Like how they organized the Conquest system I am excited to try it. But I think that Hi Rez made a bit of an undsteady move with just making the AvA pay to play they might have needed to add other epic features to seal the deal ya know. But either way I just want to see this game take off and survive

The AvA map is going to be very competitive and having a persistant world to battle over is worth a monthly fee for some people. Listen to some of the other trailers and dev interviews, this game is not just targetted at MMO players, it also has a strong appeal to the FPS market who want more persistance, and those guys been playing CS and TF2 for years on "the same maps".

Well.. I think 10vs10 is pretty optimal for a team centric tactical game. You have control about the performance of all players in your team. 60vs60 already sounds "blob" to me. GA is very fast, about recon, movement and getting or keeping control. Having more players would make everything more static .. and asks for a whole different type of balancing... I think it is cool as it is. More team content is announced. Keep it to the players who like it. If you don't: Move on, nothing to see here.

The problem is for GA is that the game probable needs sub fees to survive not only on box sales otherwise they wouldnt require a monthly fee.

Playing the same maps or news maps in 10vs10 might get boring in long run. Dont think ppl will think that's a month fee worthly to pay for as there r other fps games that can host more players and it's f2p. I'm liking the game alot but I'm afraid the game will burnout really fast as it's the same instance game all the way that ppl wont pay a fee for.

I have to agree with sampension as well, im not saying 60v60 would be brilliant but it would give versatility.

On a different point, it feels like doing everything with instances will ruin a community feel which is often needed for people to sub. Whats the point of getting a part of the map in conquest when no one besides your agency really cares?

@JoostShino But they will, if you have particular resource areas your alliance will have better gear (gear degrades over time and must be replaced) and more AvA vehicles to use, making your alliance a more troublesome prospect for others in their time zone.

All in all though, I wouldn't bother subbing till at least lvl 30 when your char is really fleshed out.

Having played in beta, I know there will be stuff added but I wonder if it will ever be worth monthly pay. Its still just a shooter, and some do a similar thing to conquest without having to pay monthly... The starting " town" feels like a glorified game browser as you cant really do much that you couldn't do in a browser that other games use. Dont get me wrong, i think its a fun game. But to pay monthly?

I hope you realize most of the closed beta only contained 10% of the finished game. That's why there was a NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT on the beta, because a beta game is just that: not finished.

The NDA was in place to keep players from going around saying "AWW this sucks it has liek 2 mpas and buggy as hell" about a game that's not even out.

Technically, they really shouldn't be hitting that silo. If they are already contesting adjacent hexes, then the missiles are already out. Their best three teams should be contesting the adjacent hexes, to prevent them from being flipped. As long as they can hold at least ONE of those defenses, then they will never lose the base and CREED will eventually run out of explosions to toss. If CREED had built the silo closer beforehand, they would be able to contest more then three hexes.

I was there for closed beta cbt1a and then UPS fucked up my computer..

Glad I got to reserve my name, "Delta" with the preorder and all, but it KILLS me to wait like this.

This was the kind of thing I first imagined when I was daydreamin about the game in the pre-beta days. I put it off for something that sounded more practical at the time, games never make up to first expectations.
