Heavenly voice. Indeed everyone must die at some time or other. But her soul seems to be hovering over the Holy Tirumalai Hills for her enchanting melodious voice reverberates every day. And in the silence of night or early mornings, her voice takes us literally closer to Divinity
oh great! blessed is the presenter of this as well as the artistes who accompanied the jewel of carnatic classical music, smt.MSSubbulakshmi.her face glows in the video with that presence of divinity sitting in her and listening to her etherial notes and is filled with pride to have created her! thanks to you for this visual and aural treat
from the great vidushimani. BharataRatna is only a small feather in her crown.
Not many know that this was the LAST CONCERT of MS. She was 81 years old. Surely well past her Prime as far as her Voice is concerned. But look at the BHAVA..When she sings Rama Nama Mane and moves to the upper Shadja, yes , Lord Rama would have surely come to Bhooloka to listen!
The specialty of Smt. Subbulakshmi's music was always her incredible ability to convey bhava. A case in point is the rendering of Pakkala Nilabadi from a Thyagaraja Aradhana of a long time ago, also found on YouTube. In that particular piece, the Kharaharapriya raga vistara and the neraval, for which "Tanuvuce vandana" is taken, and the cittaswaras that follow are so very brilliant. Her death was a very great loss.
I love her music. Don't you know that everyone must die? But it was no loss in her case, because she left her treasures for all to hear. She didn't leave us empty handed! Her life was not in vain! There is eternal gain!
I've heard various people argue whether hamsanAdam has a dha in the avArohanam. There are a lot of popular renditions of Bantureeti and Kalyaana Rama that use the dha, but some people disagree that there is a dha and it's an artifact of the gamaka. If you listen to Kalyanaraman's Bantureeti, he starts the same -- dropping straight to pa.
Asusual for Smt. MS., Amazing grace in rendering the Hamsanaadham... However, as stupid as it may sound coming from an ameteur like me, I feel that somehow the start of the keerthana was not so appealing & not so divine like MS. But the end and the swara kalpana rocked just shut me up.
There is no replacing God.It must be God then only the rest. She is God to her devotees.
