  • what wind speeds are these? what is the gearing of the motor?

  • I wonder how long it will take to shake itself off the roof. The turbine is statically balanced, but the lateral dynamic loads pulsate from end-to-end of the shaft twice per revolution. Not good.

  • LOL, it's hardly spinning at all.

  • Wirkungsgrad?

  • hihihi

  • too slow, waste of wind energy.

  • It's not working worth a shit. As I've said before... good initiative, bad judgement.

  • 240 km/h withstand ?...in two pieces of 4 inch pipe and on roof top!..ooo!!..come on!..also...transfer 3-4-5 kw with a rubber belt!...please tell me more...

  • excelent.....excelent

    sr jss

  • This is similar to Aerotectures design

You can have it vertical or horizontal.

Look for their vids on Youtube.

  • is that a belt driven generator

  • Yeah, not bad. The horizontal axis is an advantage. Did you try to depend axis of turbine on wind direction? It may pay. i think the frame is to complicated and wind resistive unless it's a kind of ppl protection.

  • @HollySpiritRulez It probably is people protection as people have been known to be stupid enough to put hands and body parts in places where they know they shouldn't put them.

Parece que sabes y me he atrevido a preguntarte.

    Saludos

  • why u didnt use gearbox ?

  • 5,000 watts? ehhh how fast does it have to spin?

  • who said 5,000 watts? It has a nominal capacity of 1,800 watts. This is achieved at approx. 110rpm at 14m/s wind speed. Maximum output is ~ 3kW at 140rpm / 18 m/s.

  • First of all, it's a Savonius Rotor. That's why it takes wind form all directions. The wings are made from glass fiber reinforced plastic and the frame is stainless steel. The vid shows a pre series model. With the current model the generator sits right on the spindle eliminating any unnecessary strain.

  • Nice design, very elegant too.

But what happens when the wind direction changes and comes at it from the side?

    Greetings from Iran

  • It's designed to take wind from all sides. That's why it's spiral is designed in two ways. This one looks like it's made from galvanized tin. Maybe a little bit heavier than needs to be.

  • Ah yes, I see now.

I wonder if it works as well in practice as in theory. I'm building my first wind turbine soon and am looking at design options.
