  • wow, this is amazing!

  • Thanks to you I learned not to be afraid of messing up and drastically cut down on the number of layers I use. Between the liquify tool (which I first started using because of you) and confidence in my skill I feel that any mistake that I might make can be corrected (albeit with patience).

Still a begginer but I feel like slowly but surely I'm improving. I'm really greatful to you and others like you who take time to make these videos.

  • i looked to the right and saw it was one layer, and went O GOD PLEASE DONT MESS UP

  • do you by any chance use references with your work?

  • you're a big inspiration to me

  • Congratulations Diane. I bought a graphic tablet and a graphic program and i will go on. I like your style. I am the fun of Stephanei Valentine but your style is a bit different. I like your technique. Why dont you build a web site. I am looking forward to it.

  • How do you blend those colors in photoshop!? D:

Im having a hard time blending colors there, so I use a different program to paint and enhance stuff in photoshop.. O_O If I try to blend things in photoshop, they just overlap each other..no blending at all D:

  • Why did you go into black-white once?

(ok, that were many questions :)

  • @Androlola : Read the tutorial and you might find out :P

  • I see you paint it totally in ONE layer :O what is this one special layer for?

Did you use some special brushes for hair, or did you just take a soft round one?

At the fist video, when you started to draw the second eye, how did you created this wire?

  • i am so grateful for this, really.

it is SO helpful and exactly what i needed :D

    thankyou so much

  • WOW.... you liquidfy a lot.... but results AWESOME!!!!

  • i'm seriously spechless

i would take the 11 hours to went to the first half of video 2, lol

you're an amazing artist, congrats and please keep doing these wonderful stuff

  • Your works are amazing Diane. I like all your work art in devianart. Cant take my eyes off them :D

  • wow , this is breathtaking, it´s like she would start talking or smiling in the next second ....

  • your patience must be endless o_o

how long did it actually take to finish this picture?

  • 11 hours approximately

  • I'm also active on deviantart and your tutorial there already amazed me, but when i saw those videos i kept asking me how your can know how to draw everything ;) really amazing skills

  • thank you very much! I'm painting from life as much as I can and I'm often trying to paint things from mind then checkout what's wrong using a reference, so I can learn how to paint various things from mind :)

  • Many thanks. As a beginner in this medium, you've helped me a lot. I was never really good at blending but hopefully I'll get the knack of it after I've read through your tutorials and practiced my skill. Thanks!

    -Fellow deviant.

  • I'm glad this could help :)

Keep practising, that's the only way to acquire a good technique... you'll be able to blend colors very fast then :)

  • Thanks so much. My blending and shading have improved and I've taken a more in depth look at your tutorials. Thanks again.

  • Hi there i would like to know if you have a DVD tutorial of one of your designs explaning through it. this design would be great to haev the full totorial or a design similar. if u dont have explaining thought it can be only the screenshot on real time speed not as fast as here. tks let me know please

  • please read the description, the written tutorial is linked in there! thanks ! :)

  • I can't believe it. You did this all on one layer? D:

  • I worked on 1 layer most of the time (same as for my other paintings), since it allows me to paint on bigger images without slowing the computer too much. I'm only creating new layers when there's something I want to add but I'm not sure about. When it's ok, I merge it with the background layer, so the image stays light enough for my computer to handle it. Thanks! :)

  • I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE your work - and it is so great to see HOW you do. Now I only wish you would explai a bit ;) for beginners like me

  • Thank you Rita! :) It's all explained in my "Digital Painting Tutorial : "hanagumori"" on Deviantart ;)

  • oh - thanks!

    Somehow I didnt check that

  • is da a website u go to?

    to panit or something

  • What do you mean? A tutorial website, a personal website? :)

  • i mean where do u go to draw ur pictures

  • I'm painting on my computer using Photoshop. I'm using Snapz pro X to record the painting process... It's not from an oekaki board.

  • Can I ask, what is the reason for temporarily reflecting the canvas? When you reflect it, edit it, and then reflect it back?

  • It allows me to checkout the proportions and fix them to make the face look as symmetrical as possible :)

  • Oh ok, thank you! :) I absolutely adore this painting, and these tutorials you do for us are so helpfull! I've learnt so much!
