  • Very beautiful, how's the surf fishing.

  • Not to sound cocky, but my and my friends climb to the top of gooseberry tower. After a few rusty beams fell down the climbing certainly was a challenge but when we got to the very roof we all felt like gods! it was dangerous but a memorable experience nonetheless!

  • I just discovered this place yesterday and loved it!.

  • When I was young I remember THREE structures. The third one was also concrete and near the other two, but it had some spindly legs so I assume it was taken down. I only get to Westport once a year, so thanks for posting this!

  • are dogs allowed on the island??

  • @MASamsandFriends I don't ever remember seeing a sigh stating that they are not, and I have seen people with dogs on the island rather often. I can't say definitively, but my guess is that they are allowed. :)

  • @MASamsandFriends Yes, it is the only beach where dogs are allowed. I would warn you though, not to go walking in the path between grass and bushes because last time I did, even though I made sure my dog didn't go in the grass, he was COVERED in ticks all over his legs and stomach.

I would warn you though, not to go walking down the paths with your dog because last time I did, even though I made sure my dog didn't go in the grass, he came out covered with ticks all over his legs and stomach. Stay on the beach if you bring your dog, unless you don't care about ticks.

  • @MASamsandFriends Yes- but don't go on the path with your dog, just stay on the beach or he will be covered with ticks even if you make sure you stays away from the grass.

  • just went there fishing off the rocks and cought a 3-4 pound porgie :] so much fun

  • 1 of my favorite places 2

  • This place is what I miss most from my time at Umass Dartmouth. The tranquility was a mind saver.

  • i live there my dad is a lobsterman i go there every day

  • awesome video, i spend alot of time here also, at least 4 times a month, im a photographer from fall river and come here for the wildlife, seen some deer, hawks, and in the winter, seals will lay out on the rocks. and the bunkers are mostly blocked off, last time i was there ,it seemed like a rock was blocking the entrance. really enjoyed your video, and look forward to see some more. and maybe we will run into each other.thanks for sharing

  • Dear Burnman,

You have just made my day. I haven't seen Goosebury Island since the fall of 2003!. I'm

from New York. Moved to Louisiana, during the season of "KATRINA!!!" This video is a beautiful tribute to an island that I LOVE and miss a lot. Thanks again.

  • Yay for Gooseberry. I spend many days and nights in the summer there. I"ve lived in Westport my whole life and I never get tired of the ocean or Gooseberry

  • i live in westport you know

  • very nice video. You speak very well. You could host a nature show. Or any other kind of show for that matter. How about some music?

    Hint hint..... Excellent work!

  • Very nice wave action... I could watch it all day!

  • Thank you!

  • coolness

  • Thanks! :)

  • Quick suggestion, maybe you could do a video documentary on the litter on the island and the impact that releasing balloons has on our beach environment.(did you notice?) I spend a great deal of time cleaning up after disrespectful people. I considered doing a video of this myself, but I haven't gotten a camera yet.

  • That's not a bad idea... especially since some of that will tie into my current project. I could probably kill two birds with one stone there. :)

I will see what I can put together, though it might take me a while to get it done.

  • Some of the birds are already dead. No need to use stones... the balloon strings'll take care of that for you.Speaking of birds, I really like seeing the terns and plovers (alive). Last year was the first time in ages that I saw so many. The protected area is working!!! :O) Someone is doing some good in this world, so wonderful

  • I was there at high tide, so much of the beach areas of the island were underwater and covered with the early evening seaweed, so I didn't see much pollution on the shore... but it was there further inland.

I was very surprised to see the protected areas on the island, didn't realized they had put them out there, but it really made me happy to see it for sure!

  • This is one of my favorite places too :O) I vacation there every summer Thanks!

  • Isn't it great?? :D

I had hoped to get some video of the old bunker, but it seems the paths to it are overgrown with poison ivy this year, so I was unable. I've spent at least a weekend at the campground there almost every year since I was about 5 years old.

  • I'll be there for vacation starting July 19th. I stay at the big house shaped like a barn close to the causeway. I can't wait! The sunsets are spectacular. This video has me all ready to pack! and believe me... there is plenty of packing. Maybe I'll see you with your camera. Great video

  • Oooh, your vacation isn't too far off then! You just may see me wandering about with my camera... lol.

I'm glad you liked it, thanks! :)

  • Can't wait!!! VACATION!!!! I always cry when I have to leave for home. If you see some stranger waving like she knows you... it'll probably be me. Stop by for a drink :O)

  • Nice footage your have here. I love just watching the wave. No mater what coast they are on. I used to live near Westport, Wa a few years ago. No islands

    Thanks for the relaxing waves.

  • Thank you! I can certainly relate, I could (and have) sit on the beach and watch the ocean for hours.

  • omg it looks soo pretty there!! i love being by the water! reminds me of home, soo nice! man the water sounds amazing!!

  • I decided to leave out the music on this video to prevent any of the natural sound from being eaten. I love the sound of the ocean, so calming.

I am sure I will have more ocean videos uploaded this summer, as I intend to visit as often as possible. I am especially fond of sunset beach walking. Best time/place in the world to do some thinking, or simply exist. :)

  • Thanks man! I really appreciate it :)

It was a lot of fun, and I look forward to the next, though I am not sure where I will film it yet. The documentary project is really taking off, and I am almost done with most of the research. I should have the outline done within the next week or two I believe. Then, filming!! :D

  • Ah...very nice video! Its good to see a fellow YouTuber trying to get in shape while making a video! Fun, isn't it? This was a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing this part of your world. It will be interesting to see where your documentary takes you.

  • Bah, I replied to you but it showed up as a regular comment... that keeps happening to me. (my reply below)

Thanks man! I really appreciate it :)

  • I love looking out to sea and listening to the waves. It's very theraputic. That coast looked similar to some of the beaches we have in Wales and Ireland.

  • I agree! What better way to connect with nature than to stand ankle deep in it? lol

  • haha, was it cold?

  • Actually, it was pretty warm for this time of year. We've been having July/August weather since mid June, so the water has had a chance to warm up. :)

I was there at high tide yesterday, so the seaweed content was a little out of control. But I will definitely be swimming in the ocean soon!

  • I needed to recharge my batteries, so to speak, and I usually head for the ocean when I do. I always feel so relaxed during and afterward.

Ah the rocks. :) The island (and the beach at Horseneck Beach Campground) are LOADED with rocks. High tide, which is when I happened to be there today) means wearing shoes in the water.

I plan on going back sometime soon... there is more on the island to show! :)

  • Even the duck didn't seem to mind the rocks much, so it MUST bea relaxing place. And I can relate to using it to recharge. Did that just yesterday, in fact. Took the camera, shot some footage, and will hopefully do something with it.

  • Ooooh! I can't wait to see what you come up with... :D

  • Ooh, documentary projects - YAY!

And so totally calming, this whole video was. Didn't look like an easy stroll through the rocks, but at least you were wearing shoes.

Reminds me how much I love the beach.

    :-)

  • Hmmm... I hit the reply link, but it treated it like a regular comment. /sigh
