You guys think this is crazy bend? i have seen the top of the pole come all the way down to the bottom of the pole. Of course the pole shattered into a million pieces and the almost killed the vaulter, but still its not that crazy of bend.
the reason that pole bent that much is because he pulled the pole from the start. never pull the pole until completely inverted. and there is nothing to fear when your pole bends too much. even if it breaks you should land in the pit safely from all that momentum. the main worry should be buying a new pole if he breaks it.
Your son may have some potential. Try to get him to focus on driving up more with his right knee. If he waited a split-second longer to swing up, he would be in perfect position to use actually use the bend in the pole.
that was a terrible plant which cause the pole to abnormally bend which isnt good lol. if he is getting bend out of a pole like that he needs to move up a few weights
Listen.. that's my son. What's scary is that's way too much bend. He weighs 130 lbs and was on a 140 lb pole. I was afraid he was going to break it. The height is only 11 feet, and he didn't even clear 11'6. The next meet he was on a 155 13 foot pole and went 12'6" and 13' the next week. I'll post them soon..
terrible take off+no technique=terrible bend

He's a really good pole vaulter. Maybe he put to much tension on the pole when he stuck it in the box/pit, that it bent too much!
He sounds like a really good pole vaulter. -I can't even get my pole to bend!

yeah if he kept his left arm straight at take off he could get on a massive pole.
