I was following Your video tutorial, and every time i did tried it, it came up RECOVERY MODE, please add there, as soon as it switch off, still hold POWER + HOME button for another 2-3 sec then release POWER button then it should go UP as an DFU mode :) but thanks anyway !!! Mine wont get past the Apple logo.

Won't enter DFU mode, or recovery mode. And I have tried everything, and I mean everything..

I've reseted the phone before, but now it's just stuck. iTunes wont recognise it. Other people take's few second to enter DFU mode. I've been pressing sleep, home buttons for several hours, dozens of times, keeping them pressed for up to 20 minutes!

Every guy/gal having this problem, solved it by DFU or recovery, which does NOT seem to work for me.

2. open iTunes

3. you will recive message, that your iphone is in recovery mode

4. shift + restore, pick 4.1 fw getios.com

5. wait for restore, then will be error 1015

6. your iPhone will in Recovery Mode, download Tinyumbrella and kick out from recovery mode.

7. Then put again to DFU mode, restore with 4.2.1 and you have it

IF you have jailbroke your iphone and have restored all settings and its stuck on the apple screen.. and this hasnt worked..try to unbrick (search unbrick iphone on utube) it first and then go back and try DFU mode. It worked for me. i hope this helps.

dfu mode and recovery mode are the same thing. whether you put it into dfu mode or recovery mode, itunes will still recognize it as an iphone/ipod touch in "recovery mode." so, if you maybe are putting it into dfu mode, itunes will stay say it's been discovered in recovery mode.

@fibrata you can't do it without restoring but you don't have to restore to the latest firmware. Download the firmware you want to have (make sure you select the right device) (Don't download using Internet Explorer, it doesn't work right) and shift- click the restore button (option- click on mac) so you can browse to the file you downloaded and select it.
