It's not a scam. My brother-in-law has been in sales for over ten years. He knew the company when I asked about them and explained to me how it would be. I know several people that have done pretty well working for Vector. It's a difficult job, but it is good experience. I'm doing alright so far (three weeks into the job), I've sold a few thousand dollars worth. I wouldn't make it a career, but there is money and fun to be had with Vector.
15.00 base pay now yet they dont tell you you are self employeed and you pay your own taxes and you use your own gas so that doesnt leave you with anything left for you lmao yes its a scam the reason i know this is because ive been hired by vector marketing and attended the last 3 days of training and not once has any of this been mentioned till i asked 1 on 1 and the intire time ive been given a sales pitch the intire time

I would say areuter727 I have had the same experience here in the UK with a similar company who only pays based on commission which is good for anyone who loves working in that kind of environment. But for me part of the job involved giving away your soul or morals as one would say because for example I would never sell my products to the elderly, disabled or unemployed as I know it is morally wrong in taking advantaged of people who are vulnerable so for me it is a scam!

I say only apply to vector for the knives. There is a problem, the level of investment depends on who you know. You don't always get a large return on your initial investment. If you know people who are able to afford these knives, great the sales work for you. However, not everyone is a sales person. From what I have read from professional chefs, a cutco knife is a decent knife, if you just want something that can cut. And the sandwich spreader is is great.

Vector isn't a scam. It doesn't directly try to pry money from students' hands in any way.
That being said, it is far from being the most honest company ever.
First off, their recruitment letter touts points like a high salary or opportunities to advance, but has no actual job description. Shady point one.
Second, legally you are not entitled to minimum wage, because they treat you like an independent contractor instead of an employee. Your usual rights don't apply. Shady point number two.
ya, i just interviewed there today. The office was shady and took me forever to find. Also, the interview was more like a sales pitch. It sounded shady to begin with, but i had nothing better to do today. I immediately got hired and i'm pretty sure they hired the about 15 other people in the room with me. a high school friend of mine gave vector my phone number and they called me and said that they would like for me to come in and do an interview. it took me two hours for the interview and i got hired. i thought it was so shady that they would even hire me because i was the least dressed in the entire room of college students and i have to work experience. thats when i thought they would hire anyone. a couple of hours later i met up with my friend and he said that he was quitting after one week.
it is really iritating seeing people say that vector is good company. please stop...truth is out its a scam, and a very bad experience for me. It is so wrong when they lie that they only will hire some and everyone thinks they are special when they truth is they all got scammed.
Vector destroys relations between friends and family. Just like Amway. A friend of mine sold 1300.00 worth of knives to his poor, unemployed ex-g/f. She couldn't afford them, OR NEED THEM, but she bought 'cause he pressured her with his "practice" pitch. He tried to pressure me as well and then tried to hard sell my mom and my brother. He's been dumped as a friend. Thats what Vector does....wrecks friendships. Be aware of that when you start selling expensive knives to your friends.

It's not a scam. My brother-in-law has been in sales for over ten years. He knew the company when I asked about them and explained to me how it would be. I know several people that have done pretty well working for Vector. It's a difficult job, but it is good experience. I'm doing alright so far (three weeks into the job), I've sold a few thousand dollars worth. I wouldn't make it a career, but there is money and fun to be had with Vector.

I would say areuter727 I have had the same experience here in the UK with a similar company who only pays based on commission which is good for anyone who loves working in that kind of environment. But for me part of the job involved giving away your soul or morals as one would say because for example I would never sell my products to the elderly, disabled or unemployed as I know it is morally wrong in taking advantaged of people who are vulnerable so for me it is a scam!

I say only apply to vector for the knives. Excellent product, love it to death, just don't waste your time working for them. 146 out of the pocket is fine, maybe do a few appointes the first week to get some free shit, but after that, don't bother. Okay, so on my first interview with them I was on my way into the waiting room and I hear unreasonable shouting, "GET OUT THERE AND MAKE ME MONEY!" That set off a small alarm right there. The condition of the office was another alarm bell. Its hard to see the big picture sometimes, and for someone with Aspergers Syndrome to catch on to it. Well, you get the picture. There is a problem, the level of investment depends on who you know. You don't always get a large return on your initial investment. If you know people who are able to afford these knives, great the sales work for you. However, not everyone is a sales person. From what I have read from professional chefs, a cutco knife is a decent knife, if you just want something that can cut. And the sandwich spreader is is great.

this is the most IGNORANT video ive ever seen. i have been working for vector for about 2 months now and have made serious BANK!! and even more ignorant than santa was that chick he talked to...the interview takes about an hour and a half, not from 10-4...yeah, you put a DEPOSIT on the knives (keyword being deposit) if you quit, you can give them back and have your DEPOSIT back..or you can sell them...vector has given me some skills not only in sales, but in everyday relations with people!!!!!!

I think not. I worked for Vector when I was in college, and I watched guys like you try and half-ass the job and fail at it. You get out of it what you put into it.
If you don't do a lot of work, you won't make a lot of money. Sorry, but welcome to the real world. By the way, that money you "wasted on gas" is tax-deductible, because Cutco doesn't put 20% of your paycheck into taxes.

i worked for vector this summer...you get what you put into it and it can be very rewarding if you have the right customers...i however did not...the worst part is that they kind of lie to you before you are hired. they claim it is not telemarketing, but it is in every way shape and form telemarketing. the worst part is you dont call random people, but rather people you know and you do not get paid for all the extra time spent at the office...

you dont buy the knive, its a deposit, you can get the money back when you return the knives. I have sold quit a bit of Cutco, an $2549 Ultimate set yesterday, at 20% thats a lot of money in 2 hours. 25% here i come :D
also the company gave me the opportunity to win the full homemaker which is a $915 dollar value and i only paid $112 for everything (yes I decided to keep my knives) and im gonna win much more. you people are just to lazy to actually do some work without being pushed by ur boss.

First off, I've been using the same knife for years. "Buy the same cheap shit"? A knife is just a piece of metal, and as long as it's sharp and doesn't rust, then its perfectly fine to use. So again, why should I spend money on overhyped knives when I can just sharpen my own and have it still work perfectly fine?

Its just a little different than other jobs, at vector you HAVE TO WORK for your money in the beginning for sure but after a while when you become better and get more contacts you can qualify your recommendations and work SMART not HARD and make a shitload of money. Vector isn't a scam. It doesn't directly try to pry money from students' hands in any way.
That being said, it is far from being the most honest company ever.
First off, their recruitment letter touts points like a high salary or opportunities to advance, but has no actual job description. Shady point one.
Second, legally you are not entitled to minimum wage, because they treat you like an independent contractor instead of an employee. Your usual rights don't apply. Shady point number two.

It sounded shady to begin with, but i had nothing better to do today. I immediately got hired and i'm pretty sure they hired the about 15 other people in the room with me. There is no way in hell i'm going to training. Does anyone know if there is a student group that warns college students against this scam?

a high school friend of mine gave vector my phone number and they called me and said that they would like for me to come in and do an interview. it took me two hours for the interview and i got hired. i thought it was so shady that they would even hire me because i was the least dressed in the entire room of college students and i have to work experience. thats when i thought they would hire anyone. a couple of hours later i met up with my friend and he said that he was quitting after one week.

Vector destroys relations between friends and family. Just like Amway. A friend of mine sold 1300.00 worth of knives to his poor, unemployed ex-g/f. She couldn't afford them, OR NEED THEM, but she bought 'cause he pressured her with his "practice" pitch. He tried to pressure me as well and then tried to hard sell my mom and my brother. He's been dumped as a friend. Thats what Vector does....wrecks friendships. Be aware of that when you start selling expensive knives to your friends.

No lie, in 2008 we had our best year ever in the South Region, and already in the middle of 2009 we're 50% overv what we did last year. Seems people find investing their money on something worth it a good way to go in today's economy. You have to spend money to save money!
