  • @Igotangry thou shall not judge...-_- just saying

  • The societal implications of this movie are brilliant. I hope after watching this video, Jews will become more tolerant of Muslims. Muslims and Jews should learn to live together especially in Israel.

  • Movie was so short-side minded also not even close to any real and has plenty problems. It also drag the minds to a hateful claims which was proven opposite. So boring and cheap, couldn't stand to finish.

  • wtf he is gonna be muslim whatta stupid man

  • I LIKE LAYLA (my name)

  • @LaylaBug993010 My name, too!!! :D

  • I would not watch this movie.

    1. Since when does Islam allow someone to become Muslim simply for the sake of marriage?

    2. The drinking of wine (alcohol) is forbidden in Islam. Why are they both consuming alcohol? Aoothu Bilahi Minashaytanir Rajeem!

    3. Muslims must give 2.5% (not 10%) of their yearly earnings to the poor. This is the third pillar of Islam!

  • to anyone who thinks ALL Muslims are against Jews I only ought to say this: Read history! I can't speak in the name of all Muslims but Iranians have always been generous to Jewish people - in pre and post Islamic times. While the Europeans were busy building ghettos for the Jews in middle age, the Iranians were building synagogues. While Nazi-Germany was killing Jews, some Iranian diplomats rescued thousands of Jews from Holocaust. You have no clue about anything!!

  • i have to say that is true cheapnonsmoker regardless of the current relations between israel and iran it was'nt always like that. Dont like to use the modern day word iran as it takes away the ancient contribution this nation has given to not just jews but the world community as a whole.

  • No you can say Iran, I like the name of it actually :) We always had and have many different religious and ethnical minoritiest in Iran - I belong to one myself and I am very very proud of it!

  • wow which minority do you come from.

  • Yes, a huge problem. That is why we,a multi-faith, multi-nation filmmakers, cast and crew made this film.

A film is an art, a kind of dream, a vision for the future, not a documentary of current tragic realities, or pessimistic future projections.

During World Wars I and II, there were equally huge problems between say Germany and France. No French woman would or could marry a German.

    We can always dream.

  • you're pretty messed up. I'm Muslim myself. Grandpa was Jewish, grandma was Muslim.

We are not controlled as we are not animals.

    Think before you generalize.

There are millions of Muslims, especially women, not only making movies like this, but also making campaigns all around the world.

  • yes you are right we are not animals a heart is a heart.

  • yes thats true iraniens arabs turks armenians ALLL are against Jews accept KURDS

kurds and jews LOVE eachoter the first people who can live togheter in peace like neigboors

  • @sayfadeen6 What! Since when when are ALLL Middle Easterns against Jews? Think before you speak

  • How morbidly inane. Why how very tolerant of you Mr Kurd to belittle ALL TURKS ARABS IRANIANS ARMENIANS and place yourSELF on a pedastal. Judaism is a religion, not a nationality. So before yapping prejudices and bad english, you might want to read up a little. There are Arab Jews, Turkish Jews and Iranian Jews. And we are all a big happy family if it wasn't for stupid governments and for colorful egoististic nationalists such as yourself.. Hugs and butterflies right back at you..

  • dear barbie,

i dont get it you actualy want to put these words in my mouth because, this movie is bout a kurd and a jew? this movie is an exempl . and if you dont believe me ask jews self, they wil say to you no in fact kurds are hour friends.

    happy new year btw

  • You might be right about the typical muslim families but kurdish ppl arent like that ..

we were forced to be muslim during the power of 3mor ben al khatab so we are not that muslim anyways.

The fucking poltiec makes so many differents between us . we are all humen being. we are the same if u remove those thoughts or belives . lets think about the major problem. they are bombing us , taking our monay away and we still talk about the globar warming . fuck capitalsim

  • omg. fantastic film seen it already at "bigmovies4free", anybody else seen it? a really fun film

  • oh cool i would reaaly love to marry a jew guy i think it's so cool

  • I cant understand how a jew and a muslim can fall in love and pretend everything is alright. There must be a huge problem somewhere.

  • Yes, a huge problem. That is why we ( a multi-faith, multi-nation filmmakers, cast and crew ) made this film.

A film is an art, a kind of dream, a vision for the future, not a documentary of current tragic realities.

Anyway, this film is inspired by a true story.

During World Wars I and II, there were equally huge problems between say Germany and France. No French woman would or could marry a German.

    We can always dream.

  • yeah true said, i believe love is colourblind and is just them people behind that destroy everything. It will take a while but will see hopefully things changed.

  • fuck was david and fatima inspired by this or what?

  • David & Fatima, or what? But D & F looks like a pure drama. Whereas David & Layla is a mixed genres- romance, comedy + a bit of drama.

How about probably parts of Adam Sandler's 'Don't Mess with Zohan." Coincidentally, the lovely Emanuelle Chriqui who plays the Palestinian, auditioned to play Layla well before Zohan was heard of.

    E. loved the script of David & Layla, including riske parts of script where Layla causes David embarrassing hardships! Identical scenes in Zohan.

    Small World!

  • i want to watch this one so bad when is it comming out .

i would like to add it is 2.5% to the poor that we must give at least not 10% you can give as much as you want but not less than 2.5% which is a must

  • The Imam is played by New York-based great Egyptian actor Mr. Hany Mohammed Kamal. Hany Kamal believes this film is pro-Islam and pro the Middl East's diverse nations, cultures & religions including Arabs & Jews. Hany is a devoted believer and a regular Mosque-praying Muslim. His son, Yousif (Joseph) Kamal, plays Howar, the Musician in the film. Let's not judge the film by clips taken out of context. This is art, not a documentary nor science! Be patient until you see the film. Light & Peace.

  • In that case i'll see the movie

  • I want to watch this bad!

  • I just saw David and Layla at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago and LOVED it!

  • Kurdistan & Iran 4 ever

  • what the fusk does this have abything to do with this u fucktard nationalist scum. learn from content of movie and cultural divides not ethnic divides, mainly religion tolerance in this move u shithead

  • we agree with you- thanks. plse take out the abusive/obscene words then we will approve and post it. It is cool to express your angry feelings but please do it with passionate words, not obscene words. This is a Love, Laughter and Peace film between all humanity.

  • bravo for great comment we would like to post. could you plse rephrase with equal passion but without the obscene words. then it will be posted. many thanks,

  • "im not giving anything up! i just have to pray to 'allah' a few times.. change my name to Davud.." - "WHAT?!" hahahahahaa!

  • Film now in cinemas. DVD sales in USA/Canada late 2008; in Europe from 2009. Hollywood actress Shiva Rose (Layla) is Persian American- her mother is Irish American, not Irish/Ireland. Shiva Rose lived in Iran till age 11. Pre Islamic Republic her dad, Parviz Gharib-Afshar, was the grand showman of Iranian TV. She identifies with & is proud of her Iranian, Kurdish & Middle Eastern cultures. Shiva Rose is a Refugee Spokeswoman for Amnesty Int'l, Anti Wars & a Human Rights activist.

  • if shes iranian why is she playing kurd? in the movie or speaking kurdish????????? and dancing kurdish

  • Dont be stupid Her name is shiva rose.. she is Persian. Look her up

  • obviously if thats the movie line shes not go na play herself shes playing a kurd

  • i dnt get this...th ladys not even a proper muslim...it would be much better if she actually foloowed her religion

  • Im sure many jews would say the guy in the movie isnt a proper jew either. Secondly its just a movie and a comedy, relax.

  • that is true, but in the society we live in today, where so many don't know about Islam/Muslims and there are so many misconceptions, it's better that the religion be depicted correctly

  • Rest assured the opposite is true. Fortunately, the majority of people - including Muslims & Jews - feel this Romantic Comedy is pro Love & Peace between all religions, all humanity. It celebrates the best parts of both religions and how differently they can be lived by some people. Only a tiny minority of fundamentalists & the over-sensitive, literal-minded (who don't understand nor appreciate the unique role of free art) think this film might be anti-Semetic (anti-Jewish)or anti-Islam.

  • the word semetic means middle eastern. stands for all jews and christians and muslims of middle eastern descent. in the media when we hear anti semetic, they are usually referring to the jews however

  • "Much better for whom?" Why not let life be lived by an individual according his/her interpertation of religion? Let Alla U Akbar be the judge, not Imams or Scholars- who don't agree 100% among themsleves! Is Islam one block? Aren't there already many interpertations & sects? Let it be! Let Allah decide who goes to Heaven & who Jehanem! This is a "Love & Peace" romantic comedy, not a religious documentary!

  • exactly!!!!!

  • love doesnt care about stupid hatred

  • wow i didnt know this movie existed i have to watch it

  • and i changed my name to davud.....lol

  • WHERE CAN I GET THE DVD?????

  • I really want to get the dvd of this movie

When will it be released on dvd in Holland?? I want to see it sooo bad :)!

  • omg i realllly wanna see this movie ... is it anywhere online, cos i live in egypt and i looked at ur site , u guys arnt openin in egypt anytime soon :P:P

  • My god people, its a movie, so stop being so damn smug and look at it is a....uh movie. Stop trying to give all of this bs facts that you google, majority of you obviously are not experts in either religion or history so you just sound like some jerk who wants to sound intelligent. Try humbling yourselves, instead of spewing a bunch of self indulgent crap....that aside, the movie looks like it will be funny and entertaining, will see it.

  • i wanna watch this movie soo bad, but i dont know where to find it!

  • This looks like an interesting and funy movie...can't wait to check it out!

    P.S - Muslims give 2.5% of their savings to the poor...not 10%

  • 'Lovely, but this J-M romance is not realistic?' This film is inspired by a true story. We know this taboo love exists for many individuals. But most hide it for fear of reprisals. OK- now it isn't realistic for whole nations. Nor was it 'realistic' for Europeans during their two devastating World Wars & the horrific Holocaust. Nor was it 'realistic' during U.S Civil War. But for a future M. East to be similar to today's W. Europe, of 'Freedom, Diversity, Joy, Love & Peace' we can always dream!

  • funny thing is that there are soo many more cases of Muslim men with Jewish women also Muslim men with Christian women, etc. But for some odd reasons the people like to put Muslim women in the spotlight as being the one who falls in love with the sikh, jew, christian. I am not saying it doesnt happen but very very very few cases :)

  • Yes. But this fictional film is not a documentary of statistical facts. Rather, it is about unusual characters or events to promote the much needed themes of Love and Peace through the veils of comedy, dance, music, culture, sensuality and romance. Please wait till you see it. Thx.

  • its not a fictional film, its a true story. =)

  • It's a fictional film inspired by a true story.

  • It is a fictional feature film in English, inspired by a true story.

  • I don't think they are giving up their faiths. Actually they are both keeping their respected faith. They are showing us that religion can not be an obstacle for a relationship. For any kind of relationship. This is the message I got from the movie.

  • It is a fantastic movie. I have already seen it twice and i will definitly get the dvd once it's released. More movies like David and Layla should be made.

  • Great Movie! I'm glad I found this trailer on here! "Google?! Hey, you're our guest, nobody gonna GOOGLE you."- That's one of the best lines... :)

  • I can't wait to see it. Is it going to be screened any where in NY?

  • Film opens starting Jul 20 in LA, Detroit, Nashville,.. and Aug 3 in Washington DC, Florida,..etc., with U.S. nationwide roll out well into 2008. Expect NY early 2008. Cinema updates at movie site: DavidandLayla, com.

  • Hey! My name is Layla! hehe anyway, I was wondering if smbdy knows if and when this movie will be playing in Europe. I actually live in Spain and it usually takes a LOT of time for movies to finally get here. Any clues?? Thank you ^^

  • I've seen that video and my friends and me were the hole time laughing! It's a very funny film and a film for the new generation ;-)

  • Will this movie be released in the Netherlands?

If not, where can I find this movie in America???

    Thanks

  • For updates on cinemas showing this film, please see official movie site: DavidandLayla, com. Film release outside USA shall be later, from late 2008 onwards. The same with DVDs. Thanks

  • omg shes kurdish in this movie, when is this coming out in australia?

  • Okey

    juist 1 think, nice video.

    Is that okey?

  • Thanks. How about also, Long live the Middle East, and the whole World? L'Chaim.

  • This is a 'Love & Peace' romantic comedy, not a political documentary. It is to be seen by the peoples of all nations and religions. For the sake of bijistan, let's plse be wise not to alienate neighbors. Let's be cool, not prevent people who most need to see this 'tolerance & cultural diversity' film by posting narrow nationalistic slogans. Hope you understand. If you kindly revise your comment, we'd love to keep it. Otherwise, forgive it maybe removed. Thanks.

  • amour amour toujours amour

chaque histoire d'amour est un pas vers la paix

    merci

  • Thank you for the trailer, it looks awesome.

I hope a release in Spain, I hope so...

I am looking forward to see it! I will highly recommend to everyone to see this fantastic film and read about it online.

    Errol

  • This looks great. I want to see this film. When willit be in theatres?

  • hahah ´´halal sex´´ omg...

  • This is a film about someone dear to me. I have to be honest I didn't expect it to be this good. It's more than good, its excellent and funny and addresses a very interesting subject. Congratulations really, I really cant wait to see it in the theatres. Excellent Job Mr. Jonroy and everyone who worked on it. Taking this risk is really admirable. Ahmed .J

  • We saw the movie at the "Festival International du Film d'Amour" at Mons (Belgium), where Jay Jonroy received the "Public's Price". Jay Jonroy made a very fresh and original movie, with a mixture of Jewish and Muslim humor and loads of comic situations. The emotions in the movie are sincere and the soundtrack is just beautiful. Besides being a nice and intelligent entertainment, this movie gives a true lesson in tolerance. The story also highlights the forgotten Kurdish issue.

  • Original,funny and erotic - I want more!!

  • Awesome! Loved it. Looking forward seeing it in theaters.

  • lololol

  • Looks Great,

  • Fantastic!!!! Can't wait untill it opens!!!!!
