I think there's some appeal to seeing the glasses fly instead of the head, I mean, people turning into black dust when they die instead of a bloody mess kind of makes it more surreal, like when the Smiles die in Killer 7.

yeah, honestly Speed Buster was my favorite boss. not because it was a particularly fun fight, but because of her personality; even though she seemed like a cranky old lady who killed people without hesitation, you could see she was actually quite wise at the end, due to the fact that she knew she had lost and the respect she had for Thunder Ryu

Well, in the US version you are viewing it from her eyes.

I agree with gamemaster, this was the only good change they made with the censored version. Speed Buster's dialogue with Travis in this scene was the best IMO=) and I love how they announce the characters freakin awesome.
