  • Look up APEX kits for the M&P. Check out the FSS kit, and the RAM .

  • you should have got a glock

  • @glock27gen I have more glocks than a store

  • @humans4targets2 That was funny but woulda been funnier if you said "the factory"

  • trying to watch what crap your talking about with my gun and you keep coughing talking about your dog and being sick....video stopped at 50 seconds

  • M&P never felt right in my hands, my girlfriend loves them though.

  • Sounds like a bad spring. Mine came perfect without that noise. Breaking in should not involve that noise.

  • Thank god I never had that problem with mine. I've had mine for a year and got my first issue Saturday while taking my CCW test. It doubled feed, but, I wasnt shooting the best ammo. The M&P in my opinion is an outstanding gun! I prefer it over the XDm and Glock hands down.

  • Who & why would dislike this vid? People are pervs indeed.

  • it sounds like that pin isnt milled to spec, send it in or check it with a micrometer

  • Thats bullshit by S&W. Break in period, are you kidding me? No trigger should sound like that regardless of how many rounds were put through the gun.

  • I just watched the video and WOW, in almost 50 years of shooting, I've never heard a trigger like that. And you're right about manufacturers cranking out guns to meet demand. And S&W should be ashamed. I own a number of smiths, wheel guns and semi's and all my new stuff from them is crap, yet the old stuff you can't beat the triggers on them. They are cutting corners on things that really matter and that is ultimately going to be their downfall.

  • Don't you have a Glock?

  • couldnt that cough been edited out??

  • No wonder people like you cause guns to misfire and shoot "on its own".

  • @humans4targets2 gross im not buying an M&P now

  • you should try some slide glide from brian enos

  • this probably have been answered, What happened to the M&P? Did Smith take it back? I was looking for your other vids on the M&P and couldn't find it. How is the M&P running now, if you got the problem fixed?

    Thanks

  • @davesantos1 It just needed broke in, and it was fine after that.

  • @humans4targets2 Cool. Thanks

  • @humans4targets2.. I am glad to read that ur m&p is ok and only needed to be broken in.. i just purchased an M&P Pro and it has a shorter trigger pull, but had the same grinding sound. it surely wasnt as bad as urs.. but definately had me concerned... About how many rounds would u say you put in it before the sound went away?

  • @jerseylion Just put 200 through it and clean it and then check it should be gone after that.

  • @humans4targets2 okay thank you for the response. u gave me a great reason to go to da range lol.

  • I know this is an old vid but I've gone M&P Nuts (bought a few and I'm a 1911 guy!) Anyway I got a FS and Compact M&P 45. The FS is a LE surplus gun which I just got but haven't shot and the trig does not have any grit or sound at all out of the box. It has the stupid mag disconnect though. The Compact did have a tad of grit sound/feel and no mag disconnect, after 500rds it went away. Trigs still could be better though but I'm impressed that I've put away my Wilsons and Nighthawk for now!

  • It needs break-in? In other word, that's normal according to the S&W?

  • Put the magazine in and the trigger grind goes away. I guess it's got something to do with the magazine safety.

  • Why am I always intimidated by dudes with beastly beards? lol

  • What did smith end up telling you??

  • @SirJabsAlot That it needs broke in

  • @humans4targets2

Thanks for the reply, that's interesting. I just bought an M&P .45 dark earth, I pick it up next week. I made sure to give it a good look over and ran a few basic test before I bought it. The triggers on the M&Ps do seems a little funky. My FFL had mine and another one in stock. I tested both triggers. They were both slightly rough but felt pretty smooth not grinding or anything. I hope it smooths out for you, when I get mine if I figure anything out I'll let you know.

  • I notice this review was filmed in 11/09. I just got a SW M&P 9mm today and have been trying to duplicate the trigger noise described in this video. Mine makes a "noise" but not a metal-on-metal sound like Human's gun. Does anyone know if Smith corrected this problem in the last 1.5 years? Sometimes they do respond to consumer's complaints. Hopefully SW did. Good shooting, all. TM

  • APEX TACTICAL

Just installed the full competition kit in my 5" Pro9 and it eliminates 90% of the grit, in addition to adding a sub-3lb pull, vastly improving take up, and now it actually has a RESET! The kit was definitely worth it and this is the way the gun SHOULD have come from the factory! Takes about 30 min to install everything and they have tutorials on youtube... If youre looking to improve your carry gun they also have a "Duty Kit"... or you can mix and match... Check em out!!

  • look like u should be a blacksmith with that beard...

  • My M&P doesn't makes this noise.. You got a problem with your trigger assembly, send it to Smith

  • what's up paul, has anyone ever told you that youlook just like Tank Abbot from UFC

  • @eastofakron2 Yeah lol, but I cut the beard off :(

  • Probably fixed, BUT I had the same problem with my M&P 9. The trigger was a bit gritty. To fix it I did the Burwell trigger job (filed/polished sear engagement surface and striker face, reworked trigger bar contact points, re-profiled firing pin block, and polished everything) I even went as far as removing the trigger bar and polishing it (where it contacts the frame). This got rid of the gritty feel, 100% improvement, highly recommend it, even if its been fixed, its a nice improvement.

  • it's a smith&wesson pistol i have maybe seen three that had no problems lol

  • Just go with the Apex Tactical Trigger kit! Its amazing! I put the 2.5 pound competition kit in my M&P 9 Pro and absolutely love it! It literally dropped right in and I didn't have to do any kind of fitting at all!

How did everything with S&W turn out for you?

    Thanks!

  • wow thats bad! i never had a problem with mine had it about two years now. hope it works out

  • Mine was just like that and one quick call to Smith and two weeks later I had it back with a 100% perfect trigger for free.

  • cool

  • I dry fired a Glock at a well reputed local gun store out of the police only area and the trigger felt just like that. Guess there's a bad apple in every barrel.

  • I absolutely my M&P 9c and my M&P 40 every bit as much as my Glocks. They damn sure look better !

  • i thought the Hamish didn't have guns?

  • lol at the open lol

  • can anyone tell me what his weapon said on the right side.

  • @notouriousDrumSkillz Capable of firing with magazine removed. Some M&Ps come with a built in safety so you can't pull the trigger if the mag is out, his version doesn't have that safety

  • If you take the firing pin block out does it still do it? My guess is that firing pin block spring is not in right or there is something wrong with how the block fits in the slide.

  • you might need to go to a gun smith ive seen some other vids with same prod and got a trigger job and it fixed that

  • i dont hear it it might be my ears

  • Thats a problem with the trigger safety ( the plunger under the rear sight ) take it out and clean it the polish the top of the plunger that engages the trigger bar ( round it off ) I polsished mine and my sear and striker and its down to 3 lbs

  • You missed the rough spots. Try again. Just checked my new MP 9 and it's as smooth as a baby's behind. You have a definate problem.

  • You missed the rough spots. Try again.

  • i had a friend that bought an m&p and on his first time out to the range one of the white dots fell off. he called Smith&Wesson and they told him to take it to a gun smith so that they could put nail polish on it. he finally had to tell them to send him a new dot now that's messed up. vs when i sent my glock in to get redone they gave me a all new frame and a lot of the internals replaced and got it back in a factory box for only $45

  • great intro. cough cough lol

  • Send it back to Smith. This should be a lesson learned. Check the weapon out well before you take it home from the gun shop. Every manufacturer lets one slide once in a while. I have two M&Ps and I'm very happy with them. I did send my M&P 9c back for the slide stop upgrade. It was back in a week. They also put new springs in the rest of the gun. It had more than 5000 rounds through it.

  • @joninwv Yeah I really like the m&p and they look great

  • how much had you fired this at this point. how many rounds does S&W consider "broke in" ? thanks for the vid.

  • @steev5x5 I fired none and they said about 200 rounds

  • Thanks for posting this video. I was strongly leaning towards a compact S&W .45...but NOT if that is typical. It seems like a lot of the other posters are having similar issues!

  • That sounds straight up horrible! I wonder how many rounds S&W would like you to put through that thing before the alleged "break in" occurs, lol, how rich are we S&W? ;D Good thing you got rid of it, lol..

  • my M&P took a dump..........trigger went to chit and is heading back to SW for warranty,I am gonna have it repaired and buy a Sig !

  • @excelerater I had the same problem with my Sig.

  • Damn that was bad grinding.

  • Smith needs to stick with wheel guns!

  • @TheFirearmsChannel Yeah, the guy who brought it from me loves it and and said it shot perfect.

  • Had an M&P nine would only fire one type of ammo. Traded it for an SR9. Works great. Thanks Ruger.

  • I have a M&P 40 and my trigger don't do that at all

  • my MP40 trigger was like that - gritty and notchy ,bullets were all over the place at the range testing my new gun - did some research on the issue and

ordered up an Apextactical trigger kit....problem solved ! but really IMO SW did a crappy job on the trigger of the MP...

  • Wow none of my M&P's do that!!

  • @UNCLEISKINGPIN Yeah, smith claims that it is normal on thier .45 m&p until broke in.

  • Really! that sucks we may be doing the same..

  • Mine does the same thing! What did smith say about the gun? Have you shot it since they returned it?

  • @Nicho2177 smith said it was normal and you have to shoot it to break it in, I got rid of mine.

  • Ruger is a good gun company, everyone says that they had 2 recalls and they suck because of it... well S&W had 4 recalls and everyone says their great. Can u believe that? The reason I say S&W customer service sucks is because they would not honor the warrenty (my gunsmith had to persuade them to take the gun back)! When I would close the bolt on the gun, the gun would FIRE! And that was after I sent the bolt in for the recall!

  • I had a Smith & Wesson i-bolt rifle... Such a peice of SHIT! Terrible customer service, took them 5 weeks to fix the problem (the bolt and trigger assembly needed to be replaced) and when I got my gun back the stock was scratched (in many places). Will never buy another S&W product again! Except 4 the 460 and 500 magnum. unless ruger makes them. And I know about the recall but they only made the problem worse :-( My bro had the same problems with his rifle...

  • Sounds like food poisoning. Could be wrong, but if that ever comes on again, you should go to the health food store and pick up some Oregano Oil and put about 10 drops under the tongue. Try 5 drops first a few times when you're not sick so you can get used to it. It does burn a little. But it's a GOOD burn!

  • Thanks, im feeling better now.

  • Is there an update with the M&P. Curious as to what the problem was.

  • Can you make a vid about how it worked out for you? Did Smith send it to you?

  • thats an awful sound. I demoed an M&P9c and a factory demo M&P9 and neither had any noise.

I am really looking at the compact myself. I hope they fix it for you.

  • I have an m&p and was wondering how that problem worked out for you. Did they send it back yet. Just curious. I am a bail enforcement agent and rely on this weapon. let me know how you fixed it.

  • Smith warranty is awesome, they me prepaid label for free overnight shipping there, but I have not sent it yet..lol

  • Thanks for this -- yes, please update us on S&W's response and resolution to this issue.

  • Almost sounds like a spring rubbing on something or vice versa...

  • Damn thing sounds like a cheap airsoft pistol. Good luck with that. Hope you post what they find out what is causing the problem. Would be interesting to know what it is.

  • Ya, I've got the M&P in .45 cal., and I have the same grinding; but not any sound or noise ... you can feel it grind a little when you pull the trigger.

Let me know how it turns out.

    Good luck.

  • I have both a .40 and a 9mm and have not had any problems with either one.

  • That is great, this came from the factory and gun store like this and smith said they need to fix it so they sent me a prepaid shipping label to send it back.

  • Maybe you got a lemon I guess. Good thing they didn't give you the run around on it.

  • Comment removed

  • hey are you alive. I havent seen you buy a new gun in a week, figured you may have croaked. lol

  • hahahaha, video uploading now...........

  • ya man thats no good bro send that shit back.

  • Yeah, I have the prepais shipping label right now, going to ship it soon ans see what happens....

  • Hey man... I just picked up an M&P .40 full size and I have the same problem as you, just not as severe. I am 99% sure it has to do with the firing pin safety block. I was going to take it out and look at it... part of me thinks its the spring inside there. A local gun shop just put their XD 40 service on sale for $399 this Fri - Sun and I am debating trading this back in for one, but then I would lose money on the trade of course... sigh, what to do. let us know how it goes with smith!

  • Will do bro, just got a XDM love it, review coming soon.

  • Ya, I've got an XD9sc and an XDm-9 and I love them both.I just took a few minutes after my last post to play around with the trigger more. It is 100% without a doubt the firing pin block. I took everything off the slide including the striker and put it back on the frame and it's when the tb comes in contact with the fp block that it makes the noise and gets gritty. I'm also finding that the finish on the slide and barrel sux. It keeps chipping off wicked easy. think its going back for the XD.

  • That's what I get for not dry firing the one I bought!

  • Damn, what a bummer h4t2. Its frusterating when a new, and expensive product isn't up to snuff.

Any plans to review a FNP45? I have been wanting to purchase one but really want to see a good review first.

  • If I come across the deal I would for sure pick up a FNP and review it, hopefully I find one soon!

  • @humans4targets2 Mountain Ridge Armament has some fantastic, if not thee best prices on all three styles if you have been looking.

  • that trigger sounds as if the spring is binding?

  • Yeah weird sound aint it?

  • it is. what do the parts look like after stripping? any shiny or rough parts?

  • Not really anything out of place that I can find.... Smith is taking it back and I will keep everyone updated on what happens.

  • Thats a better thing period it should be right leaving the factory. I believe that smith and wesson are not what they used to be when it comes down to quality

  • i flew to the uk 2 weeks ago and i fell sick straight away

  • DUDE I KNOW WHAT'S WRONG, the springs... file the sides if them, gently, it's the springs, that was the problem on my G21, the firepin safety button, the spring above it was rubbing, thus my trigger felt weird, look at it under a magnifier, it looks jagged new. i don;t know how xd's are build, but figure it's similar...hope it helps...

  • Oh that happened to you huh? Well Smith has been called and they are sending me a prepaid shipping label right now, and I will make sure they tell me what is wrong so I can keep everyone informed.

  • ok whats the joke with the miitec

  • There is a guy on youtube that was going to send user stubby a bottle and stubby got angty because he didnt get it right away, so we all tease him....

  • Stubby says use some militec on it!!!!!

  • I had a bottle of militec for stubby, then I used it all on this gun.. :-(

  • sucks Dude !

    sent it back .......

    Buy a glock 21 instead .

  • i'm not saying i know guns that well but it sounds like a spring that's stiff is what it SOUNDS like.

  • when the slide is off there is no noise at all and all the trigger springs are in the frame.

  • Thanks bra!

  • send it in, dont void your warrenty

  • Smith has a prepaid shipping label on it's way to me now.

  • I knew that was bad when you described it on the first video when you bought it. It is probably some of the parts that you pointed out in this video. Im willing to bet it's something off by just a fraction of a milimeter. S&W will take care of it. Just sucks you won't have it for a while and it's gonna take longer to see the range vids of it.

  • Exactly....

  • Whoa, sounds bad... did you catch your share of swine flu? Hope you're getting better now.

That trigger really sounds horrible and doesn't look good either. Seems like this one slipped through the quality control. I assume there won't be any problem with S&W's customer service though.

  • haha, feeling better now my friend, and this gun sure did slip through....

  • I took someone to the mountains so they could shoot their new M&P. First mag had two light primer strikes. The rest went fine.

  • Cool, maybe it will be good after smith gets it back....

  • my experience with smith customer service is it sucks i waited 7 months for replacement grips fpr my model 629...that was 7 months of me calling and emailing constantly.......

  • Man that sucks, and I will keep everyone updated on the times and what not.

  • Yeah thats a problem, I had a M&P and its NOT supposed to do that. See what Smith says.

  • That sucks hope it comes back ok from S&W

  • Thanks man.

  • something is defective with it. If you try to polish it, you might void the warranty. I had this problem with a 2 stage AR trigger. I was defective.

  • Yeah, they are taking it back, a shipping label has been sent to my house.

  • Im having some serious second thoughts on getting a M&P compact now. That trigger sounds crunchy......

  • Smith is taking it back and fixing it, I keep everyone updated on the progress....

  • @humans4targets2 well I'm at a stand still until your issue has been resolved.

If you think about it, this is kinda cool this has hapened. Seriously. Your doing a video review of a pistol and it would be so blah blah blah if it was perfect. Now there are issues and subject matter to discuss and see the results. It's helping me and my next gun purchase.

    Hope that made sence.

  • My feeling exactly, this was a great time for a problem, so now everyone can see just how long this takes and it goes....

  • ::holds hand over mouth:: Get the sick away from me. TOLD YOU I DIDNT LIKE THE TRIGGER ON THAT M&P BRO! Good look with it though. The one I tried out felt EXACTLY the same.

  • Very odd, they are taking it back, so we will see what happens....

  • Well I hope that works out. I swear thats one of the worst things that can happen to a gun owner....having a problem with a brand new firearm

  • i don't understand...did you buy it like that?

  • Yeah, the guy brought me a new one from the back, I just looked it over and dint dry fire it.

  • sounds like something dragging on a spring

  • Give smith a chance to correct the problem and see how it pans out.

  • Called them today, and shipping label is on it's way to me.

  • ya thats not cool man should have bought a glock haha just kidding but i can definitely hear that

  • I have a dozen glocks, this gun was bought for testing and video.

  • Man Ive been sick for 3 days with a fever and sinuses ,sorry to hear about the sw I thught about getting the m&p But I think I'm going with the xd 45 service model.

  • Yeah man lots of people sick around here, the xd will soon be a test gun for me.

  • An aside: One way to deal with upset stomach, and feeling bad after vomiting is to drink Chamomile Herbal tea . I use Bigelow brand teas. Very calming for your system.

  • Thanks, I will have to try that.

  • Totally sucks .Maybe they will send you a free magazine back with the repaired gun . Ya never know . Did you buy that new or used ?

  • Bought that gun new Saturday.

  • remind me never to buy an m&p

  • LA County S.O. has banned the M&P due to serious malfunctions....that sound on trigger sounded nasty.....looks like SMith has some quality control issues.

  • Sorry to see that, hope all goes well. I guess we all get to see how good smiths customer service is.

  • Yep, talked to smith already and a shipping label is on it's way. Makes for good review to let everyone see how long it takes to fix the problem.

  • Glad you're feeling a little better. That is weird on that trigger.I think Smith will make it right.I hate getting a gun and somethings wrong.I 'm pretty sure they were watching so be careful what you say.LOL!

  • Called smith&wesson right when they opened, they are sending me a shipping label to send the gun back, and you are right Bill just bad luck to get a new gun and have to send it in....

  • you know i thought of that (using it on the pans) makes alot of sense. SW doing the right thing by you , great!

  • sorry you were sick...did gwargwar send you cookies too? send that gun back to SW...let them make it right

  • Just talked to smith&wesson and they are sending me shipping label to send it right back.... You do know gwargwar uses that militec to oil his cooking pans right?

  • Nice Video, Sad to say but I prefer the Sigma.

  • Hey Dude! Don't look now, but your illness has made your hair fall out!!

The noise sounds like a spring compression problem.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

  • lol yeah hair fallout is a side effect of this.. Could be a spring but no noise without the slide on??

  • @humans4targets2 Ahhhh, Ok. Got me stumped then...

  • that sounds like shit man :/

  • It sure does

  • yea it shouldnt sound that bad my glock sound a little like that when u pull the DA trigger but i think thats just the spring on my glock

  • Shoulda Bought another Glock or a Sig lol Sry Paul I had too lol

  • So true man, it is making for a good test now!

  • H4T, theres defenately something wrong, I own a m&p .45 i bought last year. Its very smooth, no noises like yours is producing. It feels sort of like a XD trigger, best i can describe it. Hopefully they make it right. Enjoy watching your videos, look forward to many more.

  • Thanks man, I was thinking that there is no way they make them this.

  • Hum i had a M&P 45 and a similar thing was wrong with mine. So i sold it and got a M&P 9c and a 40 and 9 fullsize instead and no trigger issues with them at all.

  • send it back!!!

  • Shipping label on it's way to me.
