My two major obsessions united - Bioshock and classical piano music. Nice rendition :) By the way, I'm only a beginner when it comes to piano terms, but I think "scherzo" translates to "joke" in Italian. I'm pointing that out because it's interesting - perhaps it's called Cohen's Scherzo No. 7 to reflect on his sadistic likings for corpses, as seen in the photography mission...? But anyway, nice job on the playing, trying to learn the song right now :D

I think Schullman wrote this so that it'd sound different every time it was played. The keys are placed in such a way that it's nearly impossible to hit every note perfectly, even by a skilled musician. The song is supposed to sound like Cohen, an insane and brilliant artist who wanted to impress an audience who would never get to hear his song.

@kristiankp You have a chance to learn literally anything, you've just got to put the effort in and not loose your hands.

Besides, you have to question to what extent is the use of learning musical pieces.

If you know only entirely musical pieces you are nothing better than a biological radio player. Learn some music for technique, listen to everything and build up on using those skills to make something new and unique, that's what I live by.

I've played several instruments over about 13 years now, and I've tried it all -- practicing for highest degree of skill, unusual/weird playing, covers, composing, etc.etc.. I'm at the point now where I'm happiest just relaxing and playing something I know/like; it brings me much comfort.

i was searching for trumpet trio music for the competition i are competing in, and one of the pieces was listed as cohen-scherzo, no idea who cohen is, or that he composed a scherzo (form of classical music developed from the minuet), but i have both bioshocks lol and love this song, great job!

A long time I reckon, but with practice anything is possible really. I'm 22 and I taught myself how to play piano, although not at the level of this guy's virtuoso-like performance. I've been eyeballing the sheet music to this for a long time and have been itching to learn how to play it. I say give it a shot man.

Practice makes permanent, not perfect. I'd start with simple pieces, maybe excerpts of songs you like (it's how I started) then begin moving into counterpoint music.

@kavourakos Providing you have a keyboard/paino, maybe 1 to 2 years. Start off by learning musical theory to the point where you can read the sheet music of this. Then start on the piano, go straight to the piece you want to learn (like this one) and practice each hand individually until you can play both at a reasonable speed (this could take several months of practice remember). Then slowly put the two together. Then start memorising the music :D.
