I believe that the interest rate will not go up because the gov will pretend that there is no inflation, and this will set the stage for hyperinflation; because those who have dollars will realise their lost in purchasing power and will want to convert into hard assets.

MOT, I'm with you that socialism is not the answer, but I live in France and I pay my doctor 20 euros for a consultation, and when I lived in NYC, I paid $150 to see my doctor for 5 minutes and I never got health insurance from my employer as I always worked for a small company. A friend in the US fell and cracked his head and stayed in a hospital for 10 days. He had no insurance and they billed him 15 grand. There is something very wrong here.

What's wrong with house prices continually going lower as long as you didn't buy more house than you can afford? Low interest rates hurt savers and benefit borrowers, but deflation benefits savers. Aren't the people who do the right thing (have little debt and save) rewarded due to this?
Was the Patriot act and the suspension of habeas corpus not depressing? Oh, wait no, constitutional destruction is not depressing, but representative government following the will of the people when it differs from one's own view, now that is depressing.

Only thing I don't like is we had to sell our house, just got closing date for Nov. A small house but had to because we could not get any kind of re-fi even though we have equity. No loans. Now we will have no home but, we will have an income because we cannot count on SS or and don't see any US promises in our future. Yeah, me too. Update: Sold the house close on dec.10th. Decided to live with a long time friend with my ex. Our frnd has 2 empty bedrooms, and he needs extra money. Now, they will go to more concerts, vacations, and i will have the house to myself. I will be able to start painting and writing again. I did get a food handler's lic. & will manage the bottle of reds ooooh the bottle of whites whatever their in the mood that night, meet you anytime U want....come to our italian restaurant.:)

LOL at least I got Geico. :) I believe I will make it without a gov. handout. We have a plan. We will be opening a bar and grill, got it at a very low price since it was empty for a year, needed work. With a construction bus. owner in the family, and a liquor license approved, i just got the food handlers license, (free online)it will be done cheap, and we will get you'll drunk enough so you won't have to worry about anything. Unless we get robbed or killed. We believe the Lord will shield us.

I have no job, don't qualify for unemployment, no health care, no food stamps, and live off the kindness of my ex. who is 60. I am 57 yr. old woman, broke my arm and wrist dec. 08. keep going for jobs and interviews but, no takers. How many more woman or men in the same position as i, must be astronomical.
I am lucky I am not sick. I stay healthy with natural remedies, and so far for three yrs. so good.

Great stuff; my prediction alluding to the last HalfPastHuman report; United States defaults on its outstanding loans crippling the US economy and wrecking havoc with the Chinese economy. This is perceived as an act of war in which United States is invaded by China, as per Washington's vision. Warren Buffet himself said that there is a financial world war III being fought...the United States is destined to fall and as Americans we have the responsibility to rise a better system from the ashes.

Inflation is a wonderful thing. We will all payoff our house with balony bucks. All loans have been made with US Dollars, not German marks, Argentina pesos, or other currencys that were benchmarked against the American Dollar. Besides, maybe we can buy Credit card debt and finace the goverment by it making 10% loans to it citizens. I beg to differ the US constitution provides for lawers for criminals ( bad citizens.) I cannot believe they would not want the same for good citizens who are sick!!!

Yes, I agree with you. However, when you realize no country is really YOUR (or our) country, then it doesn't matter where you live, as long as you live in accordance with nature's laws, the Earth will receive you and reward you. All those countries are just another way of dividing people and to emphasize so called differences. I would never die for a country as I don't believe in any. I hope US will rise soon, because you guys have no other options, unlike some other countries.

We will see no better till the Federal Reserve is abolished and crushed into a million little pieces, never to be put back together and we are back on the Gold Standard. You and others claim that the interest rate is going up. But WHY, When they can just print money. If the interest rate goes up, more people will defaullt, the gov needs to pay more for its loans
I believe that the interest rate will not go up because the gov will pretend that there is no inflation, and this will set the stage for hyperinflation; because those who have dollars will realise their lost in purchasing power and will want to convert into hard assets.

In inflation, lenders will demand higher rates. You will see interest rates go over 100% during hyperinflation. Hyperinflation never lasts long before total and utter collapse.

To tell the truth, I think the economic colapse is going to be a blessing in disguise. Our government is out of order and has been out of order for a long time. Socialised medicine is not the answer but what about ramnpant corruption of the "free market" health care industry in the U.S. where doctors, drug companies, and hospitals get away with literally murder? Doctors deserve to make a good living but isn't there something indecent about some doctors making millions? And drug companies that charge extortion rates for toxic drugs that kill rather than heal? Your paying more for medicine now than any other country in the world. All because your insurance firms have pulled the wool over your eyes. Hell they even refuse to pay up alot of the time. My National insurance cost much less than your private insurance. Americans have been brainwashed to put a price on their loved ones lifes.

MOT, I'm with you that socialism is not the answer, but I live in France and I pay my doctor 20 euros for a consultation, and when I lived in NYC, I paid $150 to see my doctor for 5 minutes and I never got health insurance from my employer as I always worked for a small company. A friend in the US fell and cracked his head and stayed in a hospital for 10 days. He had no insurance and they billed him 15 grand. There is something very wrong here.

What's wrong with house prices continually going lower as long as you didn't buy more house than you can afford? Low interest rates hurt savers and benefit borrowers, but deflation benefits savers. Aren't the people who do the right thing (have little debt and save) rewarded due to this?
