From 9:17 - 9:20... I just busted out laughing for some reason.
The Commentator: "He has 50" referring to his Airness of course...
...Meanwhile, the camera focuses of John Starks running back down the floor.
Truth be told, Mr. Starks was pretty guarding MJ the whole time. I mean I own a few things in this life I lead.... car... TV... some sneakers..., but I don't own any of those things like MJ owns John Starks.
@actoman1 . hey! who had the most 50+pt in playof and is the record for 50+pt, kobe he had only one 50pt in his playoff career of his 12 years. and a guy better than mike with no scoring tittle and a chamionship do it on the same year how . kobe not even close
He had 45 pts but it was a 8 pt game after 3 qtrs. They did double team a few times but with the wrong guy it seemed since Ewing is the slowest guy on the team.
Starks is one of my favorite players ever, and this '90s Knicks squad remains my favorite team ever. And I have to say, Anthony Mason is one of the coolest, baddest cats to EVER play this game--and also one of the most underrated power-forwards of his time. People would try and fight Starks when they were mad, and they'd even go after Ewing. But you didn't see guys try and get into any altercations with Mase. Or Oak.
Jordan is great though and the Bulls were a heck of a good rival to have.
I don't see any rivalries/matchups in todays NBA that are this intense - Maybe ORLANDO AND CLEVLAND can get it BUT the KNICKS/BULLS 90's left it ALL on the court. I miss those games -
The defense played there is too intense, Kobe would of gotten maybe 20 to 25 points with that kinda defense...maybe 30 and that's maybe. That's a the similar defense that Boston played on him just Boston was a whole lot less physical and no to mention there were no hand check or 3 second rule...so you factor that in and you're looking at him scoring in the 20's max.
MJ and Reggie they killed the knicks not only in the regular season but also in the playoffs where it counted. Lebron and Kobe well, its not their fault that the knicks suck ass right now
vintage Air Mike...starks hit a three on michael... mj comes back, evades the attempted steal by john with a swift reverse right, steps to the three line, and with the accuracy of a sniper kill shot, masterfully scores. witness the master of the game deliver shot after shot, with stiffling precision. yet soo very much michael at his best... who was to know the best was yet to come.
Man its just amazing how he scored so much with that defense. You don't see this kind of defense anymore. There's so much more effort and so much more pride. Jordan got 54 the hard way.
thats just schoolin right here mj owned the whole knick d lol but whats funny is the comment marv made about mj and starks not being that cool with each other but years later who does mj count as one of his friends johns starks lol
Shootout, wow...more like a shoot around clinic for Jordan. He pretty much did that whenever he wanted during his championship reign. In his return for his 2nd 3 peat, he added to his jumpshot , though with the same accuracy , a "fade away" motion that he not only perfected but abused opponents with.
He kept up with mj for the first half though, but after that he lit him up. Please note that Mj only had 1 layup in this game nor did he live at the free throw line like a lot of current players do to reach 50 ( wade, lebron, kobe)
it must have been i live in Illinois near chicago so you know how i felt all these years but i tell ya the knicks as a team were absolute studs they jsut met scottie and michael if it wasnt for them they would have 3 peated.
hey bruce thanz for uploading this man. i know your a bulls fan and im a die hard knicks fan but you have made my week by re-living these memories and intensity of the game
Wow! I remember watching this game live on TV. As a Bulls fan, we HAD to win this game! Against the toughest D you are ever likely to see, Jordan had a game for the ages, to those fools who say the D was not as tough in the 90's as it is now, they obviously weren't watching in the 90's, they are just homers for Kobe and the like. Nice work Bruce,as always! We must educate!!
thank you!!!! those were my knicks out there and i hated the bulls and jordan back then. but as the years went by i realized even more what a great entertaining series that was. if anybody says that 90's defense is not as good as nowadays they need to feel an oakley or mason pick lol. damn michael why you had to rob ewing of his ring :(
Ya great call good to hear this from you. Jordan was just unreal this game i remember even as a kid watching it as a chicagoian i was like how is he doing this. By the way closest thing to mason now adays is Ron artest im sure you might agree. Jordan was just lights out and was so mentally into this game it was insane. As a sports fan and as a hardcore bulls fan i was privilaged to see that man gracy the court. UNREAL.
Great upload. Captures just how tough the D was. Look at all the handchecking on Jordan. He would just keep on driving, unlike Kobe who flails his arms and screams (Aayyyyy!!!).
Gotta laugh at Greg Anthony's foul. Haha. Thought he was all bad coming into the league and didn't amount to anything. And he continues to be wrong in his predictions on TV.
Sweet Bruce! Love all the work you've been doing lately. Appreciate it
It seems like I'm the MOST HATED YouTuber in the eyes of the "U-know-who" brigade, as evidence of what seems like a hundred private "I hate U" messages in my inbox from them LOL!!
Oh well, you just feed them facts that they didn't already know despite what they may think about it. When they accept that you are teaching them, and not attacking them, they will come to the understanding that you are just a very smart fan.
Seriously though, it cracks me up when people start the hate thing. I don't think they realize that we respect you know who's game, but it still does not match MJ, Bird, Magic, and the majority of the amazing players before him.
man bruce nothing better than watching this loved every minute of it, but once it ended its depressing as i know there will never be anything like this again basketball at its best real basketball
Yeah, well we didn't have true HD when Jordan played so that sucks. One thing is for sure, the coverage and camera angles of the game of basketball has come a long long way.

Jordan took a lot of jump shots but when you're hot from the perimeter then there's nothing a defense can do.
