There's the '78 demo with Gary Moore and the '85 B-Side of Nineteen, also with Moore. I've never posted either one...perhaps I'll post the demo of it.
I've got two versions of this song live and recorded both of them grand slam cd's and both of them very hard to find took me years searching all the small cd shops of dublin i never shop online but would try looking up grand slam cds
There's definitely a studio version of this. It was recorded in 78/79, but didn't appear (I think) until the 12 inch version of Phil's "Nineteen" 1985 single - it's ok, but the best version is the 1983 BBC Concert CD. That 83 concert also has great sound by the way.
Agreed, finest rock band to come out of Ireland. Johns Sykes' solo is amazing in this song. Recommend the version on 'BBC Live at Reading' CD (DELETED NOW ME THINKS) possibly the finest, fastest guitar solo ever. Pity Phil's gone, but its great his music is still played live thanks to John AND Scott's Thin Lizzy, go see em, awesome
Agreed - the version on that cd is fantastic, and probably almost the best song on there. But I don't agree with John & Scott touring under the name.
@lugnasa29 They weren't an Irish band! They had Scotsmen, Englishmen & Americans in various line-ups. Infact Phil Lynott was actually born in England and had a Brazilian father. Stop this childish crap about them being Irish. They were the best band ever but it doesn't matter where they came from.
Great song , who's on keys?

I would like to hear a version of this without John Sykes... just to hear the difference in the guitar, maybe it will be less flashy.

Sabfan, would you by any chance know where I could get a CD with this song on it- not the live version, the studio recording.
Thanks.

I think the VKWA boxset is the only 'official' place where you can get the studio version of this song. I'm not quite sure about European releases.
Other than that, you'd have to look for the original "Nineteen" single from '85.

@blacksabfan Ye man but it's no where near as extreme as this version here.

Yep, I have the version off that single and the version that was played at Reading for the BBC concert. All the versions are quite good.

One of Phil's greatest and underrated songs. They played this the last time I saw them at Reading in 1983. Quality. The man was a genius.

Love it.. Listened to them almost every day since I first got into them in '79. Lucky enough to have seen them live a dozen or so times. Legends!!

I was at the festival....15 years old, my sister took me. I am so grateful to her for that. I'll never forget seeing Lizzy at such a big venue.
Thanks for posting this version.
