It may seem like "common sense" to eat when hungry, but no one with a mental illness can think clearly about what is rational or irrational. I mean, it's also common sense not to intentionally overdose on medicine or to physically harm yourself. Eating disorders aren't about vanity, at the core. It's quite depression-based, in a lot of cases...

I don't understand why eating disorders are now considered to be the same as addiction. I never even understood it as a disease. Her family thinks she's selfish, yet her sister is upset she's not getting attention and no is repremending the sister on that.

I finding the whole family is competing for attention and they all have been raised that way. There seems to have also been favorites played by the parents.
