It grants a special power to anyone that claims it at the time, so they may not be able to go invisible if they put it on. Although, they may never truely own it, for it belongs to Sauron who crafted it from the fires of Mount Doom and only he may wield it for the rings true purpose...To consume and destroy. No other being may use it for good or evil. The only thing one can do is destroy it, for if they destroy the ring, they destroy the evil and darkness that is the ring.

@thedudeofbfbc2 no. the ring its much more powerful than that. in the councel of Elrond, they decide to destroy it so the dark lord sauron cant harness it to regain his full strength. the orcs are trying to concur the world to find the ring and the humans are defending themselves. most of the battles are just invade/defend battles. most people dont even know that frodo has the ring. it seems like the ring just turns you invisible, but thats for only the people. its alot more useful to Sauron

And like TheCheesehead said the ring is incredibly powerful. In the Council of Elrond I am pretty sure Elrdon or Gandalf say that only the Wise (Gandalf, Elrdon, Galadriel, Sauron, Saruman, Elf Lords and maybe Radagast the Brown) can use the ring with it's full power- but they would turn evil.

This is The Lord of the Rings, we're talking about the tragedy, the horror, the pointlessness of battle: it's terribly sad and wonderfully epic and this song really didn't fit. It's about rushing into the battle with thoughts of mindless murder - what kind of relationship does that have with the movie? I'm sorry, but this song has ruined a wonderful scene.

And while i agree with yo u on some points about this movie i also have to disagree. i dont think you are completly right about this movie being sad and the horrors of war. i realize that it in some ways are about how war rips us apart but stil, this movie in my eyes is about epicness (if thats a word) and how important bonds of fellowship are. so its not all sad and a tragedy.

It is not all a tragedy: it is wonderfully joyful in parts and puts an emphasis on friendship, companionship and love. And yes, it is epic. But the battle scenes, as J.R.R Tolkien himself explained, are not meant to portray what this song suggests - mindless killing and bloodlust - but rather express the sad side of it, and the terrible fact that it is necessary to save Middle Earth from ruin.
