@BodoGewalt I actually enjoy the Dead Weather more, just because Jack can branch out and they're doing different stuff from the Stripes and the Raconteurs - and I really like Alison Mosshart and Jack Lawrence.
@Lucifersteapot Fair enough man! I just like the raw energy they had going on back in the day, a thing I miss in most of todays bands. And while I'm sure that the Dead Weather does a great job it just does not touch me on the same level as TWS do.
According to White..."It's weird going to a different White Stripes," or something like that cause this Stripes album after Icky Thump is gonna be completely different from all the others. Don't quote me on that...I read it somewhere I just forgot where. But It's gonna be a great album, you know why? Look at how much he's grown on the guitar? Compare it from his debut to now.
Well, this is nothing like The Big Three Killed My Baby, better in my opinion. His voice and lyrics on this is reminicent of Robert Plant, the guitars are obviously MC5-ish chord progression with Stooges raw fuzz. Drums are just White Stripes. Nothing really as minimalist as Meg White's style. All in all, amazing song.
I like the White Stripes and this song is kick ass but a lot of their early stuff sounds the same to me. This song reminds me exactly like another one of their songs but I can't think of the name. Does anyone else get that impression?
@TheClash122 When I first listened to Surfer Rosa by the Pixies; I didn't have any context for that kind of music and I thought it was dead boring. Years later I gave it a proper listening, having the context of the music that led up to it, and I realized how diverse their songs were. It's the same way with any genre, including classical, country, punk, etc. Though the fact that Jack White branches out into so many genres could dissuade you from realizing how diverse he is within each style.
Jack White 3! :D

The drums on this sound exactly like the drums on Dick Dale's Miserlou.

i live in hope that in a couple years maybe, we'll see a reunion. it's such a shame that one of the best modern bands came to an end.
