@xXCoUnTeRxStRiKeXx No, unfortunately they tore it down just a few months ago...it was so sad, I was there for some of the demolition and I just wanted to cry. I still can't believe that anyone would tear down such a beautiful and historic building.
@Unspokenlegend09 yeah, tell that to the 1,158 people still in the graves where it stood, or the hundreds of patients who throughout its history were mutilated, beaten, sexually abused, and murdered. Beautiful, isn't it?
@Unspokenlegend09 it was probably due to all the asbestos and old lead paint that was probably in there unspoken, unless they just tore it down to make room for something else...which IS sad...
@unstabl3d Oh no problem...just drown in the fact that all you will ever see are pictures but you will never be able to experience what I did, see what I did, or have the memories of actually going inside the building. So enjoy your pictures, but I have real memories :)
Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures!!! I live in Wichita and have always wanted to tour this place!
I thought the only building left was the main building and that the outer buildings were now all gone....am I wrong? How sad is that demoing these incredible Kirbride buildings.....
are all the state hospitals in toopeka closed know. when i was a kid i got in trouble and i had to go to the screening unit in topeka at the state hospital and it sucked.
@jamesnomad76 Thats exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to make it like a hotel or something...but I didn't have millions of dollars to buy it and fix it lol
Is that Diamanda Galas singing? I love Diamanda Galas!! As a child, I was the victim of a Satanic group and was abused in the underbelly of the Center Building... I think they called the area The Maze or something like that. I have a love/hate relationship with that building... sad to see it go, though. I had asked about five years ago to see the interior of the building and was refused. I wanted to put some of my fears and memories to rest.
yeah i remember going here with my friends a while back. it was late at night and we didnt have the guts to go in plus we had people on probation not wanting to trespass. we posted up outside in the car. when we looked up at the roof we could see a woman in a dress walk up to the edge and eventually walk off the edge. its messed up
The theater/auditorium is considered by many to be the most haunted area of the building, which still exists even though the Center Building was demolished. Of the 1000's of pictures that I took inside the building, the only area where I captured orbs was in the theater/auditorium. The TSH Band, composed of patients with musical talent, would entertain the staff and patients in the theater. I heard a cello and a trumpet play during my last visit.
@gwentuck Oh yeah the theater room was my favorite! That's also the place where I caught most of the orbs :) Really cool. I didn't hear any noises though...might have if we weren't all talking lol
@Unspokenlegend09 I would have to say that those are not orbs... the main reason being that you have to look at the environment around you guys. There is plenty of loose debris all over the floor, the ceiling is most likely giving in also. I have gone back and looked at the ceiling over and over and I have noticed that they are made up of old microfiber tile which break very easily upon impact. The orbs your seeing are most likely dust particles floating from the debris.
ah yes, the Topeka State Hospital. My great grandmother went there way back in her day when they believed she might be crazy and received the shock treatment.
@gunnyranger2 There was a loose board by the front doors! Haven't been back there since, so I'm not sure if that board is still loose or if they have screwed it back in place.
I used to blaze up there all the time.

@Unspokenlegend09 Thanks for the images. I ripped each and everyone of them. I think I will use them for one of my videos, or on a blog.

interior images can also be seen on a Facebook page under the name "dopamaniac". They were taken over Memorial Day weekend, I think.

Wow, how in the heck did you get access to the Castle?
I've been wanting to take a tour of that creepy, old place for years!
I don't know if I'd have the guts to go in at night [definately, not by myself] but I'd sure give it a try.....maybe.
I guarantee ya it's haunted.
