If youre gonna spend that much money on a gaming headset, just go astro a40s. Theyre a solid pc headset on their own, so if youre just going to be using them with your pc you dont even need to get the mixamp, which is nice. I own them and can say if youre really into gaming, they might be worth checking out.

You should try some audiophile headpohones with good DAC / headamp. So you could understand how great sound sounds like - even in games. Headphones you just reviwed are nothing but a piece of garbage. 5.1 in headphones is only advertising trick, good stereo headphone can demostrate surround much, much better.

Sweet review. I recently purchased headphones(Samson SR850 Studio Reference Headphones) for a music composition course I'm taking, and based off of everything I read, the D3 headset really isn't worth the cost. When it comes down to it, purchasing a $50 headset and one of those Zalman $10 clip-on-mics will give you an overall better experience for much cheaper. Cool look though, it definitely has that going for it.

logitech g35 7.1 surround sound duel digital noise canceling headset is my headset of choice when i record my stuff even my main stuff when i play league of legends if you want to hear the quality just watch any of my 400 videos that i have uploaded (no I'm not asking for views or anything at all so don't think I'm asking for subs aether) its just that steel series headsets have a tendency of aether the microphone breaking or just being bad quality

For gamin its ok headset. For those who love sound, it sucks. It is really hard to find a good gaming headset. A cheap headphones and microphone would be as good as those for better price. But if you are a hardcore Diablo fan and must have everything Diablo, why not?

@K0lsyr4 The soundstage is good and the clarity is brilliant...which comes with the downside of revealing the awful quality in certain audio clips and such. There aren't audio controls on the cable, however, like a mic mute or volume adjustment. Beyerdynamic make audiophile headphones usually so it probably slipped their mind, but the microphone is really good.

@Bluer123 I bought HD-25-II for monitoring and Dj-ing after my gaming headset broke. So I'm not looking to buy new headphones any time soon. (or maybe 7.1 for films ). And I agree I would trust Beyerdynamic more because they know how music should sound like. I heard that MMX 300s have a different frequency curve, witch could be due to the optimization for gaming and such, witch screams pro gamins headset.

@K0lsyr4 That's good, but I'm not sure what your reason for replying was. I'm not disagreeing that they're a gaming headset, just to make that clear, I'm just trying to give a bit more information. If that was also your goal, then thanks for helping. I use them for both gaming and music, and I've found them great for both. I'm using onboard sound until I sort a problem with my card and even with onboard I'm noticing so many different things that I haven't heard before in games and songs.

I tend to get a little dick-ish when it comes to hearing headphone specs as I've spent a lot of time listening to pitches from guys in stores that have no idea what they're talking about. We can't even hear 18Hz.

My comment is pretty much the equivalent of a car enthusiast looking at a vehicle and saying, "The flyer says it goes 180 MPH... it really only goes 177".

And no matter what the technical specs are, it still scares me that they're not available on the webpage. I have some Razer Carcharias headphones for a couple of years and recently purchased Sharkoon SP's for Xbox and Steelseries Spectrum 7XB's for watching movies. I've noticed USB powered headsets really do provide a much fuller sound and bass, but are you getting any low buzz at all? Do you have an opinion on audio jack head phones vs. usb powered? I use a Blue Yeti mic and run my laptop audio through that source.
