Remember that Mrs. Pierangeli was a stage mother and would not have consented to have her daughter associate with Dean even if the studios were behind it (which I doubt). She lived vicariously through her daughter and by all accounts, considered James Dean a threat. And Bill Bast, well, he waited years to write his book and exposed the "true" nature of his friendship with Jimmy.
