  • @gigagadget nope

  • Am I the only one here because of Gmod idiot box?

  • time machine needs a fucking new HD so fuck you apple ...you fucking idiots

  • um isnt there a thing called the recycle bin...fuck time machine eating my hDD

  • windows has had this for years

  • @MaestroDraven Are you crazy? No, it won't fix the hard drive, but you will be able to restore it to your new one. Do you all not realize Time Machine uses external storage? Do it can't be lost unless your HDD and external drie break at the same time. Which is unlikely.

  • System Restore VS Time Machine, that could be next...

  • ive seen this on gmod lol

  • mac does it every hour...

windows system restore does it every second...

  • Try deleting porn on that!

  • lol, sry if this is a retarded post, but we have a recycle bin, where incase windows users remove a file, they just go there, and they have to confirm about deleting it completly

  • MAC pretty much just took all of PCs features and made them noob-proof, and you know its true. Stuff that MACs can do I can easily do with a PC.

  • Comment removed

  • What a useless feature. If I want it deleted, I don't want to see it again for a reason. So stop trying to show it to me again. "Oh what if I deleted it on accident?" That is what the recycling bin is for.

  • time capsule was pricey but for once not overpriced considering how much data that thing has

  • @datafreak667 well it's still overpriced for what it is, I mean it's an external hard drive. And 2TB for $300? that's just ridiculous, I can get a 4TB external HDD for less than that

  • @datafreak667 try buying a hard drive in 2011 the prices sky rocketed so now the timemachince is the fist apple product worth the money (apple makes their own hard drives so they are not affected)

  • @datafreak667 Well considering that Apple doesn't make their own HDD's they would still be affected. The HDD's on Macs are mostly made by Seagate. If you were to get the most expensive 2TB external hard drive from Seagate you're looking at $178 compared to the $300 in the Apple store. Sure prices got higher, but it's still quite low compared to Apple prices

  • @datafreak667 "(apple makes their own hard drives so they are not affected)"

Um, no. There's not a damn piece of hardware in an apple computer that Apple actually MAKES. Their HDD's are from Seagate, their Motherboards are from Intel, as are their CPU's. Their graphics cards are from AMD. Sorry, but no. Apple is an OEM, meaning they assemble the parts (in China), they do not actually MAKE the parts. They never have.

  • @AndrewDeLong just saying here apple now uses intergrated intel hd 3000 graphics eversisnce intel sued nvidia but really apple products suck ass

  • @datafreak667 Personally, I can't stand Intel HD graphics. It's a piss poor way to make a claim to having GPU ability.

It's like comparing a Prius to a Bugatti Veyron.

  • @AndrewDeLong Intel sucks at graphics thats always been a fact just consider that intel hd 3000 is less than half a square inch small. but if your building a pc the intel core i7 sandybridge processor is pretty good so what I did was buy 2 nvidia pci express geforce cards (don't remember witch kind) and i have kick ass graphics

  • @datafreak667 Same here. Only in a Laptop. I have a decent mid range Core i7 2670QM and a GeForce GTX 570M 1.5Gb Graphics card from Nvidia.

  • You can also do that on a windows :)

  • Yeah, because this feature hasn't been avaliable for Windows for the last 11 years.

    NOT AT ALL.

  • Windows System Restore-first seen in windows ME year 2000. does the same thing as time machine. apple steals shit and calls it their own.

  • @godhammer666 apple improved it and made it user friendly, windows is good too though

  • @godhammer666 uh, no. System Restore is a very basic backup. More settings and info on the system. Time Machine actually backs up data as well, so every hour it checks for changes and backs up those changes. If your HDD breaks, you can restore data with Time Machine, not with Windows System Restore.

  • @cjschrisAU

If your HD breaks, Time Machine will not save your data. Not by a long shot. Professional data recovery services will be required. This is basic knowledge.

  • @cjschrisAU Yeah... uh. If your harddrive breaks your screwed either way, as the backup files would also be stored on the harddrive.

  • @toshineon

backups on the same HDD make no sense. time machine can back up to external hard drives, apple's time capsule and many 3rd party NAS servers.

It takes something like 5 clicks to configure and works flawlessly.

Windows backup is a lot worse. Couldn't get it to work on my Windows 7 machine. Got an error half way through the initial backup 2 or 3 times and then I gave up because I don't have any important data on that machine anyway. (It's just for gaming. All my work is on my MacBook)

  • @Molo9000 My apologies, I actually misread the comment. I have to agree with you on the backup in Windows, can't get it to work properly either.

  • @godhammer666 Ironically, something they accuse Microsoft of doing first.

  • @godhammer666 I used system restore and it nothing like time machine. It shity comparing to time machine.

  • @godhammer666 Except the mac version isn't shit, Its what apple always has done, Smartphones were shit, apple brought out iPhone Smartphones are now awesome, Tablets were shit, apple brought out iPad, Now tablets are awesome.

Time machine is the only easy solution to when a hard drive crashes, just put a new hard drive in their and put in the install disk and select restore from time machine drive and 30 mins later your back to where you were on the old hard drive.

    Microsoft should steel this.

  • @godhammer666 it isn't a very unique feature. no need bitching about it.

  • @godhammer666 No is not a copy, on time machine you only restore the documents that you want and with the system restore you restore documents that maybe you dont want to restore besides before time machine there is an option called disk utility that makes backups on your hard drive and is on any os x systems, i think you dont know what are you talking about.

  • @godhammer666 System Reshit and Time Machine are two different things. I owned a PC and used System Restore and currently own a Mac and use Time Machine, so don't accuse me of being a hardcore Apple fanboy (even though I am). I've used both.

  • @godhammer666 And Microsoft copy the thing of Font from Apple... But PC FTW!

  • This is the only reason that I recommended a Mac to my dad. It actually saved his life once. The hard drive crashed just before going to a business trip, and he used TM to restore the whole system in a few hours just like it was... in a new hard drive.

  • System restore...grats.

  • @Dandramere

Time Machine keeps hourly backups of all your files for the past 24hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly backups for everything older than that.

Windows system restore is something very different.

The sort of equivalent feature on Windows would "backup and restore".

  • Windows has a recycle bin, it has backup, so I can get files back, so can you fuck off mac!

  • @vid1688 If the file is still on your computer, then what's the point of putting it in the recycling bin?

  • @AnimalCrossingFor3DS So that if you accidentally delete it, you can restore it.

  • @vid1688 I mean, what if I put a file in there on purpose? If I put it in there, I want it GONE from my computer, not sitting in some other spot.

  • @AnimalCrossingFor3DS Well anyway, the Mac thing is FUCKING USELESS.

  • @vid1688 Macs have trash bins too... big woop. Time Machine is something entirely different that works with external drives or wireless network drives in the background.

  • @murphcloud Network...

  • but if it keeps copying wont ur harddrive get full

  • First of all, this ad is 3-4 years old. Second of all, stop commenting saying "System Restore" in Windows is the same thing. It's not.... Let's see, have you ever owned a Mac? Probably not. Do you really know what Time Machine is and how it works? Definitely not.

  • @murphcloud Apparently from this commercial it says that it makes a copy of itself every hour.

  • @Sourceguy1 Time Machine initially clones your Mac's hard drive to an external drive or a network drive (such as the time capsule router Apple sells). It then copies any new files or altered files to this backup every hour. This way, if you delete a file by accident or something else happens, you can launch Time Machine and go back in the history of a folder by date and restore any file or prior version of a file. This works in the background and doesn't suck resources or slow anything down.

  • Yeah, this feature was already on WIndows... FAIL!

  • It's called system restore.

  • @AreYouAPedo It's called that doesn't actually back up various versions of personal files.

  • OMG THE TIME MACNE

  • Comment removed

  • what if you need to delete the porn?

  • So, Mac changes clothes every hour?

  • o.o wow that sounds like such a waste of resources to copy your entire system once an hour. Unless a mac comes with a terabyte of memory now I can't see how this feature would be a very practical way of protecting yourself from the occasional loss of unsaved work.

  • harddrive full in 1 hour

  • @webgier yeah we delete files so they don't clog our harddrive but mac copies them everywhere, so whats the point ?

  • @webgier Time Machine only works on external hard drives. And new copies only contain files that were altered.

  • @webgier if you don't know how this works, don't say stupid remarks please!

  • @webgier I never run out of space on my hard drive time machine.

  • @webgier but you can configure it so it doesnt save as often and that it deletes after a certain amount of time

  • @webgier time machine uses a different hard drive you buy serperatly

  • Um windows has had this for a long ass time its called system recovery.

  • You can't really compare recycle bin and system restore to time machine.

Recycle bin is obviously if you deleted a file and want it back.

System restore takes snapshots of the entire computer, while timemachine takes snapshots of each file. So you can revert back or restore without having to restore your whole computer.

  • And linxus didn't crash during the youtube video.

  • I hate Mac.

  • PC's have always had this- macs are trying to make you think that they have features that PC's don't.

  • Wait whats special about this. ANYTHING can be gotten from a hard drive unless it is physically destroyed. Nothing is ever lost from typical recycle bin deletion. So kinda seems like Apple yet again made something for the mentally challenged people of the world.

  • I think PC had this feature before Mac. It called Systen Restore. If you accidently delete a document you can use Resycle Bin, even if you deleted document from computer you can still reseve it back! TAKE THAT MAC!

  • System restore, recycle bin, automatic backup.

And CEO that has a specific timeslot in every WWDC to slag off Microsoft is pretty insecure.

    But macs are awesome.

  • A PC with Windows 7 has it too ;)

  • w8 time machine that sounds like system restore it cant be tho macs are just so in the future

  • ITS JUST LIKE SYSTEM RESTORE

  • I hope to get thumbs up on this. I got a 3 months old Macbook Pro 13" and you talk about stability and realibility?

99% of the times when I "close" my MBP and it goes into sleepmode, when I bring the screen back up the laptop just dies and I need to press the startbutton like 15 times before it starts again.

    There you go..

  • WTF! Time machine is not a recicle bin, PC user's do not even know what time machine is about.

  • mac:hi im a mac

    pc:and im a pc

pc:hey mac i think we can both agree in almost every way whatsoever

    mac:why thank you

pc:but...... theres one way i can beat you

    mac: what? NO, really? how?

pc: your fucking expensive, im cheap

mac:...(crys and hides in the corner)

    pc: thats what i thought

    buy a pc...its cheaper

  • @GrilledChickenTV pc is for poor people

  • @overlord848 so your rich then? well the majority of the population isnt particularly wealthy especially now... so id rather get a cheap computer that can browse the interwebs and make a word document and play games. rather then an overly priced machine that dose that but only has a lot of " cool" extras that you have to have for only the additional cost of a BILLION euro, dollers, pounds(whatever). so yeah, i buy pc. (:

  • @GrilledChickenTV windows works for mac so i can play games

  • @overlord848 its still expensive though. id rather have something cheap and simple. and anyway why get windows if you use a mac and you say pc is for poor people??? just want to know

  • @overlord848 Well mac works for PC so I can...

    wait, shit...

Basically you have to run bootcamp to get any Windows OS, Pc's can do the same, but without the emulator.

Why would you pay 1.5k for a mac with a dual core piece of shit, when I can get a full blown gaming rig for that much with 6 cores.

  • @KyuubiNaruto1337XD the thing is why mac is better is that the things that pc can do mac can do but mac have more extras and stuff for it no virus i have a mac for more then 10 years i ouse my new mac cause its better but the mac thats 10 years works perfectly you talk about gaming i have a ps3 no need for a pc and wen i wanna play games on my mac i switch to windows 7 wen i stop playing games on my mac i go back to os

  • @overlord848 "the thing is why mac is better is that the things that pc can do mac can do but mac have more extras and stuff for it no virus"

you have no arguments, you just want to bitch to pc... tell me about these wonderful extras mac has... (please avoid the "no viruses" argument, it is the most retarded premise of every macfag).

  • @overlord848 No viruses? you really want to say that? there are loads of viruses for macs.

and console gaming is crap, all games are better on PC.

and why would I even want to boot to Mac OS when windows 7 does the same thing and then some.

  • @KyuubiNaruto1337XD S the Xbox 360 is crap? No,I don't think so.

  • @reper2132 So*

  • @reper2132 I didn't say the Xbox360 was bad at what it was made for, I said that console gaming is crap and watered down.

  • well awesomme you cant ever delete a file complete -.-

  • that was a folder not a file lawl

  • DasBoSchitt

  • Mac doesn't know what they just created: A new way to Reproduce

    Oh BTW WOOOOOOOOOOOOO BUMPER CARS!!!

  • i love how pc users watch these videos and just hate. don't watch all the videos with that smug look on your face.

  • i got the blue screen of death while watching this

    THIS IS NOT A LIE

  • @TheSkater47

    Hahahaha, your computer sucks.

    Seriously, wtf

  • @TheSkater47 your computer suck

  • @TheSkater47

Wow your computer sucks, never got a bluescreen before, neither did any of my family members, even my brother who got a shitty i5 processor

  • @TheSkater47 yes it is

  • @TheSkater47 phail

  • Mac has the Time Machine, which is complicated and difficult to use (I've actually used it for a friend before).

Windows has the Recycle Bin, which stores all deleted files before permanently removing them. It also has System Restore, which came before Mac's time machine.

  • @IdentifiableUser The mac also has the trash bin, which is the same as a recycle bin. T_T

  • mac the best

  • @TheMsbuffay You know why I hate Macs? They turn perfectly good people into stubborn apple idiots. They insist on wasting 3 times the money on a computer that they refuse to believe can ever have any type of error, just because Apple and their now proven FALSE GOD Steve Jobs say so. And then if a PC runs slower than a Mac, you use that as proof that Macs are better, when you only spent $500 on that crappy PC, and $2000 on that Mac. Why don't you get an Alienware M17x and compare that to MacBook

  • Volume Snapshot Service (VSS) has been around since XP. In the more recent versions of Windows 7 you can access the individual file or folder recovery by RIGHT CLICKING on the file or its top level folder and selecting the PREVIOUS VERSIONS tab.If its blanks, its probably because you were to stupid to figure out how to enable it in SYSTEM PROTECTION under the SYSTEM PROPERTIES. Just like Apples time machine, it too must be enabled and configured.Windows has had this ability longer. PS-Fuck Apple

  • So you can't delete your porn-"infected" browser history ? That sucks man...

  • im pc and im not so retarded i dont know how to use the recycle bin

  • @AnnoyingBritishKid Its different. time Machine saves an essay if you forgot to and shut down your computer. It makes sure everything is ok. My brother found his final essay senior year thanks to it. He dropped his computer and the battery fell out. That's why its cool.

  • i just loled at someone's face on a computer store when they said they wanted to buy a mac.... oh the good times :D

  • You mac users are damn useful idiots. Keep thinking you don't have a PC. Keep thinking you don't have a mp3 player, but a Ipod. When you peel that damn apple off of it and open it up you will see all the same components. A fancy cooling system don't make it different. What type of file formats your device plays don't matter, its all based off the very same technology. the only thing that can potentially make if different is software. Who am i? A technician of both macs and personal computers.

  • IDIOT BOX

  • Unless it deletes the old file, that would make it pretty hard to find the File with the most work on it, so I don't think I would like that feature.

  • helo, i'm a mac, and i'm a pc, and i'm also a pc, and i'm also a pc, and i'm also a pc, and i'm also a pc, (and so on)

mac: hoa whats with all the pc's?

pc's: you know pc still has 90% of the market!!!

    pc's: kicks mac's ass

  • I think this is a good commercial for PC. All those back ups are annoying and take up spa- *Blue Screen of Death*

  • @NotStoopid0228 yeah, blue screen of death only for brain dead users

  • pcs are better liars mc has looked at everything from microsoft

  • apple kept easy. One button, stfu.

  • @trueredexe one button, of the mouse you mean? is that sarcasm or youre truly making a point of that? as if that was something in favor of mac interaction hardware

  • @elchapetas Mac Eliminated all your choices so you can't fuck up your own computer. That's basically what I'm saying. Plus a Mac IS a PC. Its hilarious that people bought into the idea that its something different.

  • @trueredexe but yeah, i really agree with you, my though only was, "ah, another mackid trying to comment and support mac with something so stupid"

  • @trueredexe or you may be attempting to point out macs general simplicity. Im assuming you just wanted to write something for the sake of showing your support for mac, no matter how trivial or irrelevant, also why do you need to tell everyone to shut up?

  • @elchapetas Are you really having that much trouble with that one liner?

  • @trueredexe meh dude, read again your line, that looked like a very macfan comment, that is all.

  • @elchapetas The only thing i hate more than macs are mac people. I'm still trying to convince them that a ipod is just a MP3 player...

  • Comment removed

  • @trueredexe An iPod isn't an MP3 player. Break the name down. M-P-3 player. iPods don't play MP3s, they play MPEG-4s.

  • @batmannotahero oh god dude, mp3 (mpeg-1 and mpeg-2) is just an older version of mpeg-4, OR more commonly known as mp4, there are new graphic features for the mp4 format, such as 3d rendering, nevertheless there also exist independent mp4 players that are much cheaper and offer the same functions.

  • @elchapetas Exactly. So no wonder mac people think you're an idiot.

  • @batmannotahero No matter how many hairs we split, the bottom line remains true.

  • @trueredexe Yes, if the bottom line is, an iPod (minus the iPod Touch) is mainly a portable audio device. You have to agree the iPod Touch is hardly an audio device.

  • Comment removed

  • PC has that too....

  • FUCK MAC

  • isnt time machine kind of like system restore? or going to recycle bin and restoring? or not being a retard?

  • @Pauliticiann Not really :P Time Machine is much faster system restore and you can just pic any thing you would like from past and bring it to present, or just restore easily how your pc was at past, see this video /watch?v=1BOwL8MuE_Y

  • Awesome :P But now only 50MB of HDD remains :(

  • dasboschitt :D

  • Good job, you stole a feature pc had since the year 2000.

  • No one thinks backups are necessary until they get their laptop stolen or their hard drive conks out. Then they finally understand.

  • @ChristopherDone kid, time machine backups stuff inside the computer, so if it brakes or gets stolen, youre left without your files as well, you can easily create backups on PC by selecting the desired file pushing control+c and then pushing in some other directory control+v, as long as you have enough space.

You may actually refer to external means of data storage.

  • @elchapetas “Kid”, do more research. Time Machine places strict requirements on the backup storage medium. The only officially supported configurations are: (1) A non-booting hard drive or partition connected directly to the computer, either internally or by a bus like USB or FireWire, and formatted as journaled HFS+. (2) A folder on a journaled HFS+ file system shared by another Mac on the same network running at least Leopard. (3) A drive shared by an Apple Time Capsule on the same network.

  • @ChristopherDone quite useless in my perspective, big files like programs arent needed to be updated every hour inside external harddrives, and small files like documents can easily be saved on USB drives, Ive never lost a file because of negligence and it doesnt take a great effort to save and categorize.

And dude really, take things less seriously, my intention was to merely be humorously facetious, as I you may contemplate I succeeded in said task, its not that think backups arent necessary.

  • OOOOOOO PC u dont need to back shit up cos if you accidentally delete a file it doesnt fucking disapear and get erased for ever on pc you just undo

  • I have a Mac, and I miss my video games. Thank Christ for Dual Boot.

The thing is, it's practically the same hardware in a shiny, slim case, with an operating system that's neater and easier to use than Windows. BUT windows still has it's benefits; one being gaming. I know that Steam has the Mac games but come on, it's not got the same variety of games compared to Windows.

They are both good for their own merits.

  • Mac killed my inner child

  • Folks - There's a lot of dis-information from the PC crowd below. First off, they mistake "Microsoft Backup" for TimeMachine which is in fact an incremental backup. Second, they seem to think that Mac's don't play games, which has nothing to do with the video at hand and is blatantly false. And you'll see them suggesting that Mac's cost $Crazy.00 which quite frankly isn't the case. In short, they talk an awful lot about what they do not know.

  • @kvesterling Oh and btw, there are tons of freeware that can do what time machine can do, much better, ever since xp or even w2000. Recuva is one, hell the command prompt can recover archives since the inception of windows

  • @elchapetas How do yo do it man? In talking with you I've got to wonder how is it that you go through life knowing only enough to be dangerous? That's quite a history you have there. I myself go all the way back to the late 1970's when backups were done on big iron, and then there were tape robots, and Veritas NetBackup. You really should do research before inserting your foot in your mouth. You see, that way you can avoid stepping in your own piles first. Time machine makes backups easy.

  • @kvesterling cmd: recover [disc:][pathway\file.format]recovery. theres your file, smartass.

recuva or winundelete, simple as hell

macs software concept is completely unpractical and ineffective compared to PCs software. Since youre a mac user, Ill assume your computer skills are low

  • @elchapetas And does that solution auto-magically make the backups, without user intervention, and CAN the file/folder be retrieved from a nice GUI? How many revisions of files will be saved? Will those backups be done hourly? Daily? Weekly? You see, there's a lot more to how cool this Time Machine stuff is than you seem to know... Folks - it truly must suck to be a zealot. Oh, about my skills... > 25 years experience in this stuff. Unix, Linux, Solaris, Irix, Winduhs, and yes. Mac.

  • Hello, I'm a PC, and I'm careful and intelligent enough not to erase files accidentally.

  • @elchapetas What the fuck? Does your PC use itself or do you use it??

  • @Nilsfried Facepalm*. God! not another one, is anyone intelligent enough to understand simple comments?

  • @elchapetas Maybe it's your fault when nobody understands your comments correctly...

  • @Nilsfried Facepalm*.

enough is enough dude, have a good day

  • @elchapetas Hello, I'm a human and I understand that hardware can fail, be stolen or destroyed.

  • @ChristopherDone you mean software
