Despite his enormous responsibilities, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) always had time for jokes; however, he never lied when joking. On many occasions the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shared in the good cheer of his Companions; he’d joke with them and have fun. But as he shared in their joy, he shared in their sorrow.
You can't tell me what the shaykh said is not true?
@olivetribe Ok just chill out and don't panic. Although I did mention some narrations earlier -but I forgive you for not noticing them as the comment section is a bit of a clutter-, I will consult a Sheikh as soon as I can In Sha'a Allah. If you have time, then please do it. I trust in Shaykh Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid's opinion. You can contact him via his website IslamQA. Peace be upon you brother. And please have patience if you don't like my replies.
ya akhi/ukti. Islam is the middle path, let us not take extremes please. There is nothing in this video against islam, please point out where this brother says anything against islam?
@olivetribe i gave you -or perhaps another brother- some hadiths about having fun and telling jokes. and i did not justify making fun of people. i just said that i think we should be able to critisize bad habits with comedy without naming people to avoid violating the hadith you just mentioned. and even if you think about it, a lot of muslim preachers make jokes about sinners they met during their dawah without naming. this drives listeners away from such sins. it's human nature. so.. why not?
@olivetribe so you now changed the whole subject from a religious one to a psychological one! are you saying adults can't have a little fun every once in a while? and everybody knows that jokes and stand-up comedy are great ways to have fun. if you think hollywood is scheming against muslims then you should be happy when you see Muslims in media promoting Islamic ideology.
@olivetribe Tell me, my dear brother .. do you have a proof that eating grapes while reading a newspaper is ok in Islam? That just doesn't make sense. Eveything in life -in general- is Halal, and the exceptions -the Haram, the sins- are explained in Qur'an and Hadeeth. So we -generally- don't need a proof for every Halal thing. It's actually the contrary. If you have a proof that what this brother is doing is Haram, then please enlighten me. Otherwise, let's enjoy the comedy without obsessions.
@olivetribe I didn't say that. I said they did joke and have fun around some time because you denied it. And I don't think Omar was offending any specific Muslim. He was making fun of the whole scene, which I find OK. If some people do something wrong, why can't we joke about it without mentioning names or degrading persons? It's a good way of delivering the message and even the people who made those mistakes will laugh and learn. I don't think Islam is against that. And "البينة على من ادعى".
@olivetribe He didn't make fun of Islam! he just criticizes how some people practice it. And you say Sahaba and Prophet never did it? They did! Look for stories about a Sahabi called Nuaiman Al-Ansari نُعَيمان الأنصاري, he was a good Muslim and he joked a lot! And the Prophet did too. Recreation is important for everybody, and we get rewarded for making our brothers and sisters smile (under Islamic laws - no lying ..etc) .. Islam is not about praying all the time! In fact, that is forbidden!

Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi said that:
