Ps. It's good to have your mag extenders stippled like your frame. It helps for slips when loading .

@zabuza6060 - It's always good to find used guns first before going for a fully customized new gun. Guns have to go through a "break-in" period before it fully functions reliably, especially the more customized it is. Therefore, used guns with 500+ rounds through it is A-OK to me. If you ever get the chance, get used, not new...from a reputable dealer or person of course. All you'll be doing is saving dough :)...by the way. For steel challenge. A Ruger MK II w/ cheap scope is fun as hell!

Great video! After watching your videos in the past few weeks I went out and built a g17 open identical to yours. Just shot my first match with it last weekend, video is on my page. I love the set-up. Are you able to shoot open "major" and how? I hit a lot of A's and B's but was shooting minor. Thx Chris

@crmodels - Yes I am able to shoot major with my gun. SJC would probably be able to answer the question better though. :) The first version of my open gun was also able to shoot minor with a simple change of the recoil spring. My current configuration can still shoot minor, though it's not 100% reliable when I do that. If I am shooting any steel matches, I still keep it at a higher power factor, but keep it around 150PF (to keep it reliable) versus the 170-175PF that I usually shoot.

Gamingoddess, how many rounds on your 170mm and 140mm mags? What do u think when it comes to durability compared to 1911/2011 open guns?

@laobunlee - The 170mm can hold 29 rounds, but I keep it at 28 rounds. The 140mm can hold 23 rounds. I do have a 2011 Bedell Shorty, but I have not shot it nearly as much (if at all) so I'm probably not the one to turn to in terms of reliability with 2011s. However, the Glock open has served me well. It maintains the same reliability as my regular Glock 19 and 34. This is the SJC version though so it works. I've seen other Glock open guns have their fair share of problems...

@utamaputranto - This is a customized grip (grip stippling) by a gunsmith. Standard frames are much smoother. I prefer there to be some sort of texture so for my Glock 34 production gun, I put on cheap sandpaper tape.

What are your load specs again? Like bullet make, primer, brand of powder and quantity of powder? I'm building the same gun and I want it to run perfect.

@PhantomEJ1 - I'm currently using: Montana Gold 121IFP, 8.0grn WSF, Federal SPP, 1.145 OAL, brass is anything I find on the ground. With my previous compensator I was using around 7.3grn of WSF. If you have a similar build, I recommend you start a little lower...maybe 6.5grn and then work your way up.

Interesting gun, I decided I didn't want to run my 9mm that hot so I built up a 357sig calibre gun instead. It doesn't put me at a capacity disadvantage because we're all limited to 10rd mags here in Australia. Keep up the good work, it's nice to hear you talk. :)
