@freegamers69 Yes. I'm pretty sure it has to be GoTY though. I've heard that, but my non GoTY version works. I hate it on the xbox, the loading times are sometimes never worth it.
It's also on Platinum Hits as well. You can play Morrowind on the X-Box 360 with the backwards update disc on one of the many X-Box 360 demos...they have updates all the time.
Hey listen guys. I need some help. Im a serious morrowind fan. But I cant get it to play on my 360. I have an external hard drive, but it wouldn't let me play. It kept saying that it wasnt supported. I went to xbox. com, got the download, and updated my xbox via flash drive, but it still wont work. PLEASE HELP ME!!
@THeBeardog800 there both good games if your new to the elder scrolls games get oblivion because morrowind is a very hard game or if ur thinking of getting morrowind get the game of the year edition I hope this help
All the expansions are included on the same game disc for the GOTY edition for the XBOX. This video was to dispel the then circulating rumor that you could not trigger the expansions on a 360. As you can see, you can get into the expansions just fine.
I have actually had plenty of time to playtest the back compatibility of this game, and have successfully completed all 3 parts of the XBOX morrowind story arcs. (Main quest, Bloodmoon, and Tribunal.)
So far, the only real problems I have encountered were a somewhat sluggish framerate, excessive load times, and corrupt gamesave icons. (the little pictures displayed when you go to load a saved game. They display as garbage.)
I believe they've updated the emulator. I had the update from the microsoft website, and when i got Live a month ago, I got another update. The load times for me are not nearly as long it seems.
As far as I know, the console updates for back compatibility requires the xbox HDD, which does not ship with the Arcade.
However, I know that the system itself will take the update just fine if you have an HDD attached. The prices might have come down some since it is after new-years. Try price shopping around your area, like-- tonight. Retailers dont stay in "liquidation" mode for long.
Sorry for the late reply-- I am visiting friends over the holiday--
Ideally, it should work out of the box if you have an Xbox Live connection set up. (It will download a system update before starting the disc); however, some people have reported problems when starting this game, or other back-compatible games on their 360s even with a hot Live connection (I was one!). the solution is to create a manual update CD using the instructions available on the XBOX Live website.
No they usually have minor graphical glitches, like in Ultimate Spiderman which is the only xbox original I have played on 360, textures placed over other textures are sometimes only partly coloured especially shadow effects and bulidings in the background. The framerate can possibly sometimes be better though. They aren't made to properly run on 360 and can't usually be processed properly.
Since the game assets are identical, they are the same;
There are some compatibility bugs though, in that the "save/load" icons for saved games are often garbled. This is a pure cosmetic issue though, and does not crop up in gameplay.
Load-times are atrocious, like you see in the video.
hey, please answer! how do you get to do the expansions? i have got the goty edition too but i dont know how to get to play bloodmoon or tribunal. do you like need to finish the morrowind main quest, then there will be an option to go to the expansion places or what? please answer.

I just bought mine at a gamestop today. Cost me about $17. Terrible, terrible price, but the game was worth it, and I couldn't find one anywhere else. I hate gamestop :-(
I am not gonna go and hunt for an original first-release copy of the game, just to test the BC capability of the 360 on it- Sorry. :(
I'd think it would work just fine. There have been reports I have had of people not being able to use live to update the BC, so you may have to use the "disk" method. See the XBOX live site for details.
Hey, for everyone curious for backwards compat. for morrowind goty, i have the game and the backwards compatability does work, however the game runs terribly, almost to an unplayable level. This may be due to the shape of the disc which is really not that bad considering that the game plays flawlessly on my original xbox. Just thought i'd say that.
It's not THAT unplayable on the 360. I have encountered some frame rate problems but and it's a little annoying but it's not unplayable, it just makes the game run slightly slower.
the 360 just must be way sensitive to disc quality, because like i said earlier, while my original xbox plays it perfectly, my 360 will play it sometimes at like 3 fps and freeze, or something of that nature, trust me, on mine it is unplayable.
The 360 is such an unbalanced system. They all don't work that same, or at least that's how it seems. I've never encountered problems THAT bad on my system.
Yah maybe, I havn't seen it on anyone elses, I'm pretty sure it might be the low quality of my disc, only way to find out is try my disc on another system but I really don't care that much lol I'll just play on pc for now :)
Yeah, that might the best way to go. I've played the PC version a little bit myself. Unfortunately, I have a hard time adapting to keyboard and mouse so I'll just tough out it on my 360.
Yeah took me a while to adapt, but the experience on pc is awesome, there are soooooo many good mods, plus official mods and patches that just add to the awesome game.
Come to think of, I may want to try getting use to the PC version cause now that you mention it, I wouldn't mind messing around with some of those mods.
Dude totally, don't get me wrong I've logged hundreds of hours on the xbox goty edition, but I've gotten used to the pc version and it rocks, especially getting house mods, the one I use is MarcMori Estate, its in balmora and has everything you could need or want or more. Yah so just sit down and get it over with you will be glad you did! Enjoy.
What has peaked my interest in the PC version are the mods. I've looked up the various mods and I think it might worth giving the PC version another try.

Wait a minute, I went on the microsoft website for the backwards compatibility list of xbox games that work for 360. TES Morrowind GOTY is currently not on there, so how did you get this to work on Xbox 360? I'd like to know so I could try it for myself.
Just to tell everyone about this, even though Morrowind GOTY works on xbox 360 with the backwards compatibilty update, I heard on Wikipedia that the game will crash when you try to learn from a skill trainer. I haven't tried it fully to the point I got to a skill trainer, but Its on Wikipedia. But thanks for responing to my question 6stanu6.
Believe it or not, I'm the one who posted that about the skill trainers on Wikipedia. Although I never edited it, I've realized that it was a bit of an exaggeration. This is based on my experiences, but don't do the skill trainers so rapidly because the 360 is a little slow in responding to the information given to it in this game. In the end, it'll be too much for the 360 to handle therefore the game with crash. That reminds me, I've gotta fix that article on Wikipedia.
TES3 morrowind dosent exactly count as an plain old game its a 'Game of The year' game, so its different, ive notesed like all 2004 xbox games wrk on the 360
