Lets also looked at Cowboy in the Punk's bathroom fight. He was NOT hit (is what they showed) and he went strong throughout the battle.

Wrestling and Judo loses its effectiveness once you face bigger opponents, because they won't be tossed around so easily. Kung Fu is great against any size, especially bigger opponents. Because you use their size and strength against them. Snow is a great fighter because his style fits his height and weight. Someone like Cochise, who knows how to use that against him, will be able to win.

The professor doesn't even know of his existence. But this is why he survives. He doesn't stand out, but uses the large number of student body as his strength.
This is also why he was never assigned a mission to lead by Cleon. He's like the stereotypical Asian kid.
