  • God bless him. There is no way to express our thanks to those who stand in harms way so that we don't have to. Shake the hand of any Service Man or Woman, wrap your arms around them and tell them how proud you are of them... tell them Thank You.

  • He was also a great American who up until a few months before he became very ill him and his buddy SGM Littrell (MOH) returned from their 6th trip in 5 years to visit the troops....he cared about 'His Soldiers" more so then himself. "SUA SPONTE"

  • He is a true hero<3

  • a true HERO...

  • stevehislop, The COL could have been mistaken for a Bank Manager, however, when your a recipient of the Medal of Honor, you unknowingly accept the duties and responsibilities that are unwritten but they must be done. I had the distinct honor of being in the company of 13 MOH recipients at a ceremony in San Antonio, TX and they were all very calm and treated each other with respect...no rank was used it was all first names...nobody out ranked anyone of the 13 and that's the way it is..

    RLTW...

  • @springer94 A great American & above all a great human being. When I had the privilage of meeting the late Col., we discussed the very nature of the politics surrounding DC at the time he received his MOH, & the effect this had on him, & like a true gentlemen he said, "You can't blame those ppl for the way they felt at the time. The folks back home weren't in a war, so they don't understand. It's only natural for folks to fear what they don't understand." His wisdom forever touched so many.

  • Man...4 Star General Peter Pace looks like an amateur beginner with his "few" Medals standing along side Col. Howard...thats so cool.

  • Outstanding tribute to Col. Bob Howard. He truly was one hell of a soldier, and the true definition and example of what an Army Ranger, and Special Forces soldier is supposed to be. HOOAH!!

    AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY!

    RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

    DE OPPRESSO LIBER!

  • Thank you springer94 for sharing this

    KUTF!

  • I want to be just as great as he was.

  • Thanks for this tribute to a truly unsung American hero, and a fine gentleman.

When I read John Plaster's book "SOG", I was amazed at the virtually unknown world of Special Forces in Laos and Cambodia, & among those many accounts of bravery the accounts of Robert Howard's valiant acts were amazing & inspiring.

It was also a nice touch to feature Jerry "Mad Dog" Shriver on the title page.
