1:35 Aww are you fuckin' kiddin' me I LOLed so hard... I can't do a damn thing involving tools without saying some variation of this XD
But thanks for the great video, may have to do this on my S10 soon, hoping the adjustment will help but if not I know what's up now. Thumbs up and thanks man!
thank you for the video buddie. Ive been debating wether or not to replace my entire tie rod assembly because i can turn my wheel almost a half turn before the wheels turn. They show signs of wear, but now I believe it is indeed just the steering box. Thanks again man.
Thanks for the feed, I replaced mine since I had mad play in it. The one I purchased was also from a junk-yard after putting everything back into place it did not work. So always check what you buy, make sure it turns freely with no resistance. The one I purchased I had to bang the pitman arm to align it that right there should have made me think but enough of my long winded post but thank you again for the post.
How do you test if your pitman and idler arms are bad while taring all of this apart? Or should I just spend all the money and replace them both to at the same time?
@chevrolet0388 The best thing to do is with the vehicle in the air, yank on the center link and check for play. You'll be able to see exactly where it's bending at. Your idler arm will be more prone to failing than the pitman arm for some odd reason.
@63lesabre Thank you, one last question. When I turn my truck left it will automatically correct itself and straighten up, but when I turn right I have to manually turn the wheel back or I will just keep driving in circles. Is this something I can adjust or is the steering box malfunctioning?
nice video. i just have 2 questions...do u have to raise and support the front end of the car, or will ramps do fine? and what do i use to separate the pitman arm from the gear box? thanks
@tippman2k01 I guess you could put it up on a ramp, but it will be much harder if you ever need to move the wheels around. Also, to remove a pitman arm, you gotta get a pitman arm separator tool.
@blazinloud That's right! You could move the steering wheel a good 5 inches and not get steering response. The gears on the inside just wear away. My advice would be to keep the power steering fluid changed frequently, and NEVER TOUCH THE ADJUSTMENT NUT.
hey man where at do you live? cause i heard the banana on the background. and just looking for some reference for a steering box fix on my ram
thanks

Don't use an open end wrench on your lines use a line wrench. You can crush your power steering lines tard.

@chevrolet0388 It could be an issue with the gearbox, but a misaligned or bent center link or improper caster can cause this to happen.

@63lesabre i can use a pickle fork to separate the pitman arm right? thank you

@tippman2k01 You probably could, but it's going to take more work.

sweet video man, thats a very common problem on these things. so the play was caused by the gearbox and not the steering shaft at all?
