Around the time of Tog Gun's release, it probably looked so promising. Afterburner and Thunderblade for SMS looked like good selling points for that system; it's too bad the NES didn't have something equivalent at the time, even if overall the game library for NES looks a lot better than the Sega collection.

Top Gun: The Second Mission. One of the few games I owned before 1998.

My other console games were Return of the Joker, Nintendo World Cup/Super Spike V'Ball, and that was it. I was three in 1993 and was craving a Mario game. I did have SML2: Six golden coins and shitty games like home alone for GB, but SML didn't have the magic of it's main counterparts. I also had a collection of shitty DOS games growing up like Mario Teaches Typing. BTW, I cleared TG2 in less than ten minutes.

The landing "UP" is inverted, In other words don't push up on the pad push "DOWN" when it sayn' up to land. The developers tried to make it as real as possible as you would fly a plane.

I never had a big problem landing or refueling, it just takes patience. You must also remember "up" is actually down, it's called reverse control. By pressing down you're really lowering the tail that makes the plane go up.

Adorkin! Sonic boom! I must admit I still use those to this day when involved in a pseudo fight situation. The irony is that I think the nerd did actually manage to land the thing...using the power glove!! So finally there is a use for the thing! I remember this game was tedious. Only played it once or twice. I managed to land the thing but the fuel connection...na...I suppose its not impossible but improbable...you just gotta get lucky.

I used to have this game years ago when I had my Nintendo. I actually beat it. Actually, refueling and landing are the hardest parts. All you have to do to avoid the "bogeys" and the missiles shot at you is to keep the nose "up". You won't get a very high score, until you have to actually destroy the enemy vessels, but it's a good way to keep from getting hit before you engage the target at the end of each level.

I might be an idiot which I can live with, however, if in fact the developers wanted to create a real flight simulation type game using Top Gun as the vehicle, wouldn't it make sense that the buttons are inverted for when you land? you kept pressing up rather than down which is probably, and aI'm just spit balling here, where you may have gone wrong. Now, is this relevant to the fact the game sucks regardless? No, but if you were to go back to playing the game, maybe u could use this technique.
