I watched this scene many times and I'm leaning towards Fiennes being the best Heathcliff so far. Granted, Olivier was new to the movie format and probably hindered by restrictions of the time. But, Fiennes has so captured Heathcliff perpetual madness as clear as day.
I think Joaquin Phoenix would make a great Heathcliff.
