  • First game I got for my PS2. Thinking Mr. Kalas had something to with it since the commercial made me want to get it.

  • I may be a Philly hater but

    R.I.P Harry Kalas

  • Hmm, guess Harry waited long enough for his team to win a WS.

    RIP

  • @ironlife421 What ru takin about? Phils won the WS in 1980 and Harry was there.

  • @WorldTradeCenter2011 I meant he died before they played in the 2009 WS.

  • @ironlife421 U wrote that he waited long enough to win a WS so I assumed u meant '08.

  • HK wasn't allowed to make any calls in 1980 due to the MLB rules in effect at the time, which only allowed network broadcasters to work both TV and radio. The rules weren't changed to allow hometown announcers on radio until 3 years later, mostly due to the avalanche of letters to MLB from Phils fans who wanted to hear HK.

If I had my way, you would hear the hometown announcers at every post-season game. In '08, you would have heard HK at Philly and his son Todd at Tampa if they did my idea.

  • NFL 2K2...Great game and much better than Madden 09 for 360 (which I have). Funny thing is, that I have all three versions of the game and they are much better than Madden 09.

  • I was hoping The NFL will honor Harry Kalas this season as they did with Gene Upshaw last season. I hope Kalas will be inducted to the NFL Hall of Fame real soon.

  • I wonder how many people are in more than one Hall of Fame? If Harry is inducted into Canton, he will be among those very few.

I share your feelings, Troy1967 - he should be in both Canton as well as Cooperstown.

Harry, who was a Hall of Fame guy both behind the mike and in real life, was honored with the 2002 Ford C. Frick Award by the Baseball Hall of Fame, which is the broadcaster's equivalent of being inducted.

I attended his ceremony in Cooperstown.

  • @Troy1967 He's already on the Phillies Wall of Fame. Why not have him in the NFL Hall of Fame too? But he was more of a baseball announcer than an NFL announcer.

  • I refuse to play football games ever agian till 2k comes back with an nfl license

  • R.I.P. Harry Kalas...he will be forever remembered

  • RIP Harry Kalas.....thank you for all the memories.

  • Oh, I'll always remember him on CBS Radio..."Marino back to pass..." Ah! The best.

  • man...i cant beleve I wont hear this voice again when the NFL starts...RIP kalas

  • cya kalas..rest in peace

  • not living in philly ill miss his nfl work.

  • RIP Harry Kalas

  • Damn, Harry Kalas just passed away 2 hours ago. :-( The voice of the NFL and the Phillies is gone , but not forgotten.

  • Harry Kalas is the Voice of God. I love him call NFL Films.

  • @Badguy10472 is he the guy that sounded serious on every play for the 1970s nfl highlighrs

  • For some reason, it's just weird to see Dreamcast, Xbox and PS2 as the supported consoles for this game. I know this was the last NFL 2K game on dreamcast but it's just weird to see SEGA simultaneously support their own console and the other ones at the time

  • Greatest game everrrrr.

  • harry kalas has the voice of god go phils we sweep the brewers today!!!!!!!!!

  • Nah, the "voice of God" title belongs to John Facenda (that was actually his title anyway). Harry is good, but he's no John Facenda.

  • I have to agree. For folks 35 and up, Facenda was what we heard growing up. Kalas was awesome though.

  • Sure but John Facenda only did NFL Films. Harry did it all including baseball. I will take Harry over John Facenda anyday!!!!!!!

  • Actually, John Facenda did all types of things from Children's stuff to Radio and newscasting (Check his bio), and he was the original NFL Films voice, and also, I'm sorry, the best NFL Films voice.

I'm not knocking Harry, but John is unbeatable.

  • I am knocking John either he was great. But Harry Kalas he was not!!

  • I remember both Facenda and Kalas from when I was a kid here in the Philly burbs. I am now 45 and still live in Bucks County.

Facenda was the lead anchorman for WCAU-TV, then the CBS affiliate in Philly (now NBC10, due to NBC & CBS switching stations in September 1995 - KYW-3 is now the CBS affiliate).

Both were great broadcasters in their own right. Philadelphia was blessed by having both men here.

  • this da only version of 2k i had ever liked...betta that 2k5

  • ya i have that game its actually really easy . but it sux

  • great game! long live 2k/visual concepts and take 2. greatest combo in the history of sports gaming hands down

  • so old

  • i got this on ps2

  • i got this for dreamcast and it was the last one they made so ive never played another football game since...ive done a bunch of seasons my overall record is 99 wins 5 losses on all pro haha

  • I never got bored of my NFL 2k2, it was just that fun!! In Madden '07, I actually get bored more, damn NFL 2k2 is better to me.

  • true dat, i still play that game today. fun factor is 5/5 i miss playing online but too bad people pull alot from the game meaning they can quit with out getting a loss.

  • I still have NFL 2k2 on dreamcast, but my dreamcast doesnt work anymore.

  • Harry Kalas has the best voice ever!

  • Yeah man! It will be a very sad day in Philadelphia when that golden voice is silenced.

Kalas, the Hall of Fame voice of the Phillies, will be 72 in March 2008.

My screen name is in honor of his broadcast partner and off-air best friend, Richie Ashburn, who passed away in his sleep at his New York hotel room in September 1997 after broadcasting a Phils/Mets game at Shea Stadium. Harry is still openly grieving over Whitey.

    Go Phillies!

  • Here it is, 9 months after my original post, and the Phillies are about to play Game 1 of the 2008 World Series tonight (October 22)!

    Go Phillies!! Beat the Rays!

  • Ironically, Harry passed away the very same way his best friend Rich Ashburn did.

Both died on the road of massive heart attacks, and both in towns that were significant in their baseball careers.

Whitey passed away on September 9, 1997 in NYC - he retired from the '62 Mets.

Harry passed away on April 13, 2009 in DC - he grew up as a Washington Senators fan due to Philly-area native Mickey Vernon, who took 10-year-old Harry into the visitors' dugout at Comiskey Park during a rain delay.

  • 2K Sports returns with All Pro Football 2K8 this year! Bye bye Madden!

  • harry kalas is the dad of my friend, kane, that goes to my school

  • Harry is one Hell of a nice guy in person - for a famous Hall of Famer, he is very accessible to the Philadelphia sports fans who he adores, and Harry even answers all of his fan mail personally, sometimes even hand-written!

Isn't Kane about ready to graduate??

  • lol Madden has legends

  • me 2

  • i remember this commercial
