  • very good style. Keep it up

  • Pretty good young man. It's good to see that this style will live on. Keep choppin'!

  • Sweet !

  • dad gummed, this ole kid can pick that thang.

  • Well, guitar pich blabla , sound blabla, technique blabla, GREAT FUCKING JOB BRO!!! You are playing a tune normally played by a living legend and not many people out there will and can do the same!!

  • You need to alternate the bass more!!!!

  • very VERY well done!

  • Cool man,i like seeing a young guy learning to play music, instead of trying to spin records backwards

  • Hey I am came across your video here. I have been looking to buy a new guitar and I love the sound of your guitar. What kind of guitar are you playing here?

  • why dont u show your face and then we can really tell if your playing this or not

  • Too lazy to tune the guitar too

  • @Medevilglitch snarky comment- I hope you're either his sarcastic guitar teacher, or his smartass little brother.

  • You rock! I have always wanted to learn this song--a goal before I die.

  • I tried that & had to go to the E.R.

  • i've gotten much better at playing this song. this video is old.

  • This kid is good. There are ten thousand excellent pickers between here and Nashville and this kid is one of them. Very talented

  • since youre such a critic why dont you post a video of you playing this song

  • Awesome mon. How do you do that ?

    Uncredible...

  • Bad ass man

  • How do you get a mic to only pick up one string like that? Sounds like one is next to my ear and the other five are in the next room.

  • in this video i used a cable from my pickup on the guitar's bridge to my computer. the sound recorded from it has a very weak low end and a strong high end, so higher notes sound louder than everything else. The high E string is affected the most by this.

  • great for just learning; slow it down to perfect it, hitting all the notes, taking the buzzing out, etc.

  • whoa...if that was 2 years ago I wonder what u sound like now.

  • nice, but you could tune up your guitar little better...

  • nice !

  • You outta be damned proud of that...to even attempt that tune issa huge undertaking, and you did a great job of it

  • Nice job, keep on pickin!

  • Doc played it this fast and sometimes even faster. Don't let 'em get you down, mate! It's tough to get those pull-offs perfect all the way through, but you're doing great and can only keep getting better. Nice work.

  • right on

  • would be nice slower ... no good showing how fast you play .... we all do that after a few beers or whatever .. slow down .

  • thats how the song is played genius.

  • nice picken. thats some hard timing in that song...good job

  • Yeah has speed up way to fast. The guitar is to high pitched for being played that low on the frets.

  • i would agree.

this video is 2 years old and i have improved. i bought a nice microphone so the recording should sound nicer if i were to record this again. i do have a capo on the 3rd fret.

maybe in the future i will record this again. definitely a little slower too :)

  • You're kickin ass there son...

  • c'mon buddy, if you turned that to the original speed, I'm sure it'd sound cool too! Fast speedy fingers (wish I had'em!), but you're playin 'em faster than they should. Good job anyway fella!

  • sounds good to me. love the twang!

  • Nicely done

  • Wow, interesting technique there! most fingerstyle guitar players will make use of their thumbs (on both hands), where the boom-chick will hit bothe the bass note and counter-rhythm and the other hand will get the F bass note so as to prevent muting the strings below and for a faster reach, but otherwise, you still pulled it off nicely!

  • i made this video before i learned how to use my left hand thumb to hit notes on the 6th string. it does help a lot though.

  • While I agree this could do with a little (just a little) slowing down, I think you really pulled off a great performance. Fiver from me. Well done.

  • Slow it down slightly! You're trying it faster than you can play it (and a little faster than it should be played anyway). It just sounds rushed as hell.

  • i am really amazed about your talent i 've just begun to be interested in folk style guitar and i'd be grateful if tell me how much time i need to get wherer u r now knoowing that i can call myself an intermediate guitarist

  • This excellent playing, but yes it is a little out of tune, sounds like the b and low e are a little out..but the playing is outstanding.

  • I don't care if you give me another thumbs down or not, I KNOW an out of tune guitar when I hear one! SO DEAL WITH IT.

I can tune a guitar faster than others can with an electronic tuner at hand.

  • You're right, it is out of tune. Alot of people can't hear that, but I listen for it, I go crazy if my instruments are out of tune haha, can't even listen to it.

  • Way to go Ace! I enjoyed it very much!

  • awesome ºoº

  • Well played dude, you've got the talent for it, just go on. And well tuned....is where it all starts LOL

  • Hi,I play this piece also.

it is more simply if you makes the F wiht the thumb ;-)

  • back when i recorded this i had not learned how to use my thumb for 6th (or even 5th) string notes. i use it a lot now. using your thumb for bass notes really helps expand the different styles of music you can play.

  • Please tune before you pick. I'm sure you did a good job picking by what others have written. But I couldn't listen to much because your guitar was so out of tune. BTW, this tune is called 'Black Mountain Rag'. Keep working at it, practice doesn't make perfect...it just gives you confidence !

I've been picking for 38 years as of today.

  • Ummm... i am 100% sure this song is called Doc's Guitar. Black Mountatin Rag is a bit different than this.

The tuning was slightly changed because of the capo. it happened more noticeably in my recording of tetris on the classical.

  • You use a capo? Why?

  • The song calls for a capo to be used on either the second of third fret. i believe it is all up to the player, though. the thing i would say is that it helps with the hammer ons and pull offs. it seems easier to do higher up on the fretboard.

  • i believe doc would be proud to hear you play this...dont listen to that aub

  • Great job. That stuff ain't easy.

  • you are a big boss congratulation super

  • thank you?

  • that is SOLID! Nice work

    I love this song

  • Good pickin'. I wish I could play my guitar with a thumbpick. Whenever I get that thumb pick on, I try to resort back to banjo rolls. Guess Ill have to stick with my good ole flat pick.

  • Good playing, this tune has always given me a lot of trouble, mainly with the hammer-on/pulloff bit, but I think I have always tried to play at Doc's speed, and having seen this, I think I will try it at this more human speed. Good job on it!

  • positive feedback..

  • Wow, How long have you been playing ?

    That was great!

  • its goin' onto five and a half years as of today haha :)

  • Nicely done

  • I would love to hear the song flatpicked

  • I taught myself this but i changed it to 8th's noted insted of 16th's.

  • yeah, it's played fast. but in my opinion, this is a great song that can be played both fast or slow. it's all up to the player.

    -Andrew

  • nule

  • god damn son! That's pretty damn good man don't ever lay that ax down, by the time you're thirty you'll be among the best in the world.

  • this is great

  • real good!

  • Sounds good, well done sir!

  • i wonder how long it is necessary for me to play like this, a lifetime..

  • Nice playing. What did you go into in the middle there? I heard a riff from Southbound for like a measure maybe. Anyways it sounded great. I took a stab at Doc's Guitar here on my page if you're interested. Also did Sitting on Top of the World. Trying to get feedback...

  • I've probably watched this 30 times and still cant get enough.

did you get tab or just figure it out (either way amazes me)

  • I've just listed to Doc's Guitar then thought I'd look for it on Youtube. I came across you playin' it. That was fantastic mate! Keep on enjoying

  • I love that stuff, well done

  • bauerb2...im still smiling, very very nice adaptaion of a Doc classic!

    Be proud, be very proud!

  • Dude!!! That was fabulous! I am wondering if you have any tabs, and if you do could you please send them to me. This is the best recording of this i have ever seen. Keep up the good work!

  • yet again !!!coool !!

  • look out that you get a guitar with a better sound. but well played!

  • been playin for 30 years - you are damn good at it - not just imitating - but you have a nice sound distinctive of your own.

  • Very deft. I like the sound of that guitar, what kind is it?

  • its alvarez Model No. 5036. that's about all i know about it, it was my aunt's.

  • Hey good job bauerb2,

great rendition of fingerpicking v Doc's flatpicking piece like that.

  • well played
