If you add in wood ash to the slurry, you will breakdown the cellulose, making it softer and easier to form a briquette. It is the same method as making hominy grits. See Wikipedia entry on nixtamalization.

@ksheriffdeen Thank you. We are currently working a new design with a high speed jack with a longer compression stroke that will allow you to make 3 briquettes faster than the current 2.
