Nice trip Troy, to bad you had so much rain to deal with. I understand the need to get away for some personal time now and again but on a trip like that it might be a good idea to invite along a good friend maybe. Atleast then on the long protages it might be a tad bit easyer on your self, just a thought. Anyway take care man and stay safe...
Just watched all 11 episodes and they were Fantastic!!. If you ever consider putting all your series together on a DVD for sale, I would buy them. It looked to be a magnificent journey and Maddy seemes to be a wonderful Companion. Thank you for giving all of us veiwers an insight on what it's like to Portage through rugged & beautiful Wilderness. I hope all is well with the toe, I have gone through it myself and endured more than 6 surgeries on it. Take care Troy.
Troy, just got back from a week in the BWCA-all well. Used the pot cozies, rain fly (+Siberian hitch) paddle bungie cords, Merrill ankle highs, & flint/steel on birch bark -all thanks to watching your videos! Keep it up and looking forward to your next trip and video. Got any guidebook recommendations for the Algonquin area?
TROY AND THE GOOSE MADE IT OUT !! Thanks for providing us more videos, they are much appreciated. Great to watch these types of videos when one just can't make it out there and wants to be out there! Thanks again and hope more are a coming!
You probably had a an ingrown toe nail causing an infection called a paronychia that requires a minor surgical procedure. I am an ER doc and could have helped you out with the Novocain I tend to carry on my trips. Hope it wasn't too bad for you at the clinic the next day. The shots to numb you up are the worst part. I really enjoyed your videos. Superb videography and love your commentaries and camp craft. To the BWCA next month. Hope mine goes as smoothly as yours but I'm not traveling quite s
JUST back from the park...I hurt MY right Big Toe as well, caught it on an exposed root pn the Head-Harness Lake Portage...looks like yours..swollen and nasty....
Troy, I have to thank you for taking us all on another fantastic canoe trip through Algonquin. The Brent-Big Trout portion was familar and it was cool to see some of the large central/eastern lakes. Been meaning to make it to Lac Lavielle for years, retracing the route of John Robbins in "The Incomplete Anglers".
Great video... Hopefully we can follow you on another trip from the 2011 season. And p.p., your co-star Maddy is a family favorite!!!
Yep, Thanks very much for taking us along with you and Maddy, Troy. Take care of that toe dude. What ever happened to your red canoe? This has been a great trip over the last few weeks.
Ta Da!!!!! Troy n Maddy made it...I was starting to have my doubts. LOL
great trip Troy. Did a similar trip in Superior. 9 days. out. rained 7 of those days. and slugged on regardless. You have a very positive attitude. One of the reasons I prefer solo too. .Keep em coming .
Another great video, thanks. Looks like you finally had to pay the fees due for a great trip, I don't even get out of my bag if it's raining. Poor old Maddy, get an umbrella :)
So sad.....they are over. I couldn't wait to get home from work to see the new videos. I like how you spread them out...I had something to look forward to for a couple of weeks.
Great job! I enjoyed the whole series. I cant wait until you post more videos.
Its kinda bittersweet, the end, great series though, I really enjoyed it. I just noticed, are you paddling backwards? It looks like you have what would normally be the rear seat going forward with the pack on it, is this for balance or to give Maddy some more room?
Great videos. Enjoyed the series a bunch. What boat is that?

Troy and Maddy,
Thanks for sharing your advantures,
Done some canoeing trips in Sweden, not as desolate as our trips though.
I love the quietness (non urban) and the experiancing the elements.
Cheers for this very good series of films!

@ohm1163058 Usually when paddling solo, you seat yourself in the front with the back facing forward. As you said, it's for balance purposes. :)
