This album came out when I was 18. I spent that spring/summer working in the the Alberta Rockies working at a little end of nowhere resort and bought this cd while I was there... I listened to it again and again. This song particularly takes me back to that summer which was one of my best ever. Nothing can make you remember a time or place like a song you love.

I'll say this: I am not from Canada, but the Tragically Hip are an amazing band, and this song really strikes an emotional chord with me, and I don't know why. Like the earlier comment from apetimberlake about the Sikh man singing along to this song, I am moved by it even though my experiences do not correlate. That is what makes this band and their music great.

From Nunavut to Victoria and all the way over to St. John's there is no official version of Canadian culture or one way to live. And in the end, this song has beautiful melodies and lyrics that might be about Canada but ultimately deal with nostalgia and regret, two things we can all relate to.
