after years out of the country and one fucked up international incident (i'm not even kidding), i was rescued and brought home. And this was playing in my headphones when we touched down in Toronto. I had never been so grateful to belong to anything as i was to belong to canada at that moment.
I lived in Port huron Michigan for 23 years of my life. i played hockey and of course crossed the bridge many A' weekend after I turned 19 to drink. Thanks Canada! I love you! and miss you....
I love the Trailer Park Boys, the Big Dirty, and the specials. This was the perfect song to end the great movie the Big Dirty to. I had to hold it together when this song came on and everytime I listen to this song I get a light and almost teary feeling. I am American yet I am still learning so much about Canadian culture and I like it always.
I was listening to this in school last year and another kid came up to me and told me this song sucks and then he told me to put on eminem... Love this song!
@KingGoose24 wow... i looked at your comment and just thought "what a fucking retard"... like, could you actually fabricate a more stupid unoriginal response to a perfectly sound comment? i am shocked that people as stupid as you exist. you would have been terminated in Nazi Germany during WW2. they killed tards and other "undesirables" you know.
This album came out when I was 18. I spent that spring/summer working in the the Alberta Rockies working at a little end of nowhere resort and bought this cd while I was there... I listened to it again and again. This song particularly takes me back to that summer which was one of my best ever. Nothing can make you remember a time or place like a song you love.
i have a cottage in the town of bobcaygeon ontario, right on the edge of pigeon lake. its absolutely beautiful, being there i can completely understand why the hip named a song after the place.
thank you . we should respect them more as artistes than the country we live .. i am canadain >>>yes canada rocks >> but its the clab of a band that makes good music .. as canadains we its natural to make goood music
This is a really amazing song, it doesn't get old for me at all. I could listen to it over and over and want to hear it again even more each time. Going to be at bayfest this coming sunday to see them.
To the Band: ♫ Beautiful song. ♫ Love it. I saw Robert Plant and the Band of Joy on Thursday 23rd night in Ottawa, btw, great show. I could have gone up to Bobcaygeon on the way back to Toronto today, Saturday, but missed knowing that you were playing there *tears* aw, could kick myself. Woodstock Bobcaygeon style! My brother loves Bobcaygeon. Be the brilliant constellation you always are... see you in Downsview. ♥
this song makes me miss MuchMusic, because they really played this video back in 1999 and now us in the United States are stuck with fuse. fuse is NOTHING like MuchMusic. anyway, GREAT song.
Miss The People That Stood Around Me When These Songs Came About In My Life, Makes my Apple Hard To Swallow :( But It was Great To have Had the Experience of a lifetime to have Stood with Them
@ilovechickenskins that's what life's about man. Imagine being able to see a city that's 90 miles away and a bunch of beautiful blue mountains in between. best Wake n Bakes I ever had. Happy 4/20 everyoneee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two months from now I'm going to Bobcaygeon to see Sam Roberts, the Trews, and the Hip play the big music fest, words cannot convey my excitement, only their music could do that

Canadians have an abiding interest in surprising those Americans who have historically made little effort to learn about their neighbour to the North.
sweet, sweet song. best listened to with headphones. there is so much going on in the mix it takes you far away. there are like five guitars, organ, pedal steel and some stuff i can't place. a great composition and a great production as well.

don't really give a rat's behind who thinks which country is great. it's about as irrelevant as one can get. I'll say this: I am not from Canada, but the Tragically Hip are an amazing band, and this song really strikes an emotional chord with me, and I don't know why. Like the earlier comment from apetimberlake about the Sikh man singing along to this song, I am moved by it even though my experiences do not correlate. That is what makes this band and their music great.
@nipseysdad Mostly because most of their songs are about Canadian history, bud. Listen to the lyrics, do your research, and you'll see why lots of these songs inspire a feeling of Canadian patriotism.
@nipseysdad Great comment. Canada is also such a huge country that many people who live here will never directly relate to this song either. From Nunavut to Victoria and all the way over to St. John's there is no official version of Canadian culture or one way to live. And in the end, this song has beautiful melodies and lyrics that might be about Canada but ultimately deal with nostalgia and regret, two things we can all relate to.
@nipseysdad i See where your comin from, i think lots (i havent read the comments about countries) are like mine though, just proud of where we live, what were about etc.
@nipseysdad Thumbs up! Music is universal and is for sharing with anyone/everyone and I am a Canadian and we have the beauty of every race living here as one so if you like us, thanks. We think we're ok:)
Canada is the best country.i love canada it is my home and it will always be my home.this song is so peacful i love it.americans cant make even music like this.they make crap.its what i love about canada is that it is freedom.you can say anything and nobody will say anything.i was born in canada so this my home and my land.it is everybodys land.LONG LIVE CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I remember passing by one of their out door jam sessions somewhere in Hamilton. We were on our way to a friends house. Nothing but respect for these guys. !!BIG UP CANADA, EVERY TIME. HIP 4 LIFE!!...
I was watching Trailer Park Boys heard this at the end and just went nuts... What a great tune. On yeah one more thing as far as the whole Canada thing... Be Proud!
I'm from Philadelphia but believe me unlike some dopes in this country I have a great deal of respect for Canada and it's people, Spend as much time there as I can. Very cool place.
The best Hip song ever, and the song my husband and I took our first dance to. Thanks for posting it.

The group I was with had no concept of The Hip or their music, so we didn't stop. This was about 15 or so years ago. The first song that I heard from them was Little Bones.
