Just some of the ideas in the USA started in Britain - But many that started in Britain were perfected in the USA, Though if I was honest this one (Alf Garnet / Archie Bunker) was not one of them. Alf Garnet was a real gem in Britain at the time and created and formed a whole generation, but has been dropped from our history books now due to the PC police.
