Would it make you jealous to know my mate got a Star Trek film cell of the episode 'mirrors, mirrors' for £80 at London Film And Comic Con and it was singed by Shatner and Nimoy. I know im jelious and at LFCC i got a 2008 remake of the old ST action figure of McCoy for £7(the box is all crumpled up thoe).

Interesting, I have a recording of Roddenberry saying 'Trekker'. And at many science fiction conventions I have attended, you wouldn't dare refer to star trek groups as 'Trekkies' Your Trekist handle sounds great, then, we could also invent another word 'Trekism', the path that star trek fans follow. Remember IDIC : Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, and that is what 'Trekism' and 'Trekist's' are a part of. May your way be as pleasant and rewarding!

No debate, "Trekkers' was the designation given to us in the begining. "Trekkies" came along after the show went into syndication, and it is viewed as somewhat of a derogatory handle. After seeing the new movie, which was okay,, I can see where the 'Trekkie' name would stick. It is a different star trek now.

To you people out there bashing this: This is just a cheap little $20 prop for kids to enjoy, and for people who love Star Trek that may not be able to find or afford the$50 or more "original" phasers. Besides, for someone who just saw the new Trek movie without being a Trekkie, they wouldn't even want a real phaser. They'd just want a fun toy. So lay off it a bit, will ya? We're not saying it's the ultimate Trek accessory, just a little fun toy.

Yes, this does look like a bad, Chinese made dollar store toy and I'm very forgiving when it comes to Trek products.

Why the chrome? As far as I can tell it wasn't chrome in the movie. This is what kills it. Chrome on ANY toy looks like crap.
