  • might seem on rails but back then it was all mechanical grip instead of the aerodynamical we have now.

  • I don't think any car has ever looked to be on rails as much as the FW14B.

  • I was at silverstone for this and everytime Mansell came out crowd went wild it was such a good atmosphere! Wierdly I was with my dad and a some friends of his who were 2 Germans and 2 Brazilians so we were cheering for mansell the germans scumacher and the brazilians for Senna! Funny mix I know I was 15 and it was such a good day will always remember it!!

  • That car is on rails!

  • What the top speed of the cars back then be?

  • @0000kris0000 I think the top speed of the Williams FW14B on a circuit was around 215-220mph slightly higher than todays cars. I heard a rumour that in testing it got upto 230mph.

  • If ever you wanted a dominant season - this really was it. 2 seconds ahead of team-mate Patrese in 2nd place!! Mansell should've won more than "only" 9 races. Having said that he did blow away his team-mate completely...

  • Incredible lap. Only 12 cars were within the 107% limit after this, but they were still allowed to race. I don't think the lap was so much about Mansell driving so brilliantly, it was more the car being just amazing.

  • they didn't use the 107 percent rule in 1992,,,,,regardless.....Mansell should have been 3 time world champion.....86,87 and 92.......truely deserved it.....

  • Explain me why Patrese didn't do this time as well?

  • It wasn't just that here, Mansell at Silverstone was beyond even Senna at Monaco in terms of dominance in ANY car, i mean he outqualified Patrese by 2 seconds in the same car. This track, with all its fast corners, was where Mansell's fearlessness was best exhibited, the fact it was his home GP gave him yet more of an advantage, and in 1992 with the FW14B thrown into the mix... It's no wonder he destroyed the field without even going as fast as he could
