  • This is the third video of yours I've watched. Great stuff man, Canada needs more people like you. We relied to much on foriegn investment capitol to build our economy, and didn't reinvest hardly anything into building a rock solid manufacturing base. Greasy palms all the way upto the Prime-d Minister..

  • when they talk about education cost- a lot of that money is for counseling, drugs, barrs, law suits. Todays education is full of lies- they teach a lot to keep themselves in power, spyciatry, sphycology , wefare state economics, I can go on

Teach them about Political Power, Public relations in mass media, scientific methodology but no going teach them about anti depresants - Nice video, thansk for the news and viewpoints

  • The have always been many things to fix in human history. At least there is no war around here. For that I'm pleased. The dept level, job outsourcing etc. is worrying no doubt, if only the politicians (-> voters) would do something about it.

  • 'Quebec will vote with CR's ( fair comment) for 5 billion in aid.' Do I smell a bet here ? Joe, I wager a 24 of Kokanee it won't happen

Politicians are politicians- their job is to get re-elected and often respect means nothing . I am still taken back by Iggys crying about Taxcuts ..when he voted them in.

But we are Canucks and we can disagreee ....without dissin our moms, our IQ's . our part of the country. Besides, how can you diss someone who can get 26 million hits on a SPIDER ??

  • There is corruption in the political system and in many cases what's in our best interest isn't being addressed.. I agree that all facets and jobs contributing to our economy need to be respected as they all serve a function. What annoys me is when politicians fail to see the larger picture or choose to turn a blind eye...Whether it be regarding the economy or other issues such as education, health care or marijuana legalization.

  • So enjoy your holiday, thrill us all with your videos, but really, leave the political comments to the pundits. Unless you want to come back and run for office, I would more than happy to vote for you - so you can change all the things you are complaining about.

For me - I've seen the States,Mexico, Jamacia,Bahamas - I'm really happy I get to call Canada home. At least I know I won't be robbed and my woman raped if I should ever get held by the police. Or worse. How about commenting on that ?

  • @MrCowtowner Ottawa lock up, police assault woman being held and cut of her top, Kelowna RCMP kick non resisting suspect in face, Lower Mainland police severely assault man answering door, he was not the suspect.

We are all have to be pundits. What the government does effects us all, no more the silent majority. I will attend political rallies of all parties with camera and ask questions, and voice concerns.

  • It's great that you got to share a beer with Evan while on holidays. But his crystal ball is no better than ours. New equipment doesn't necessarily job loss, anymore than having a new forklift means 2 labourers are going to be let go.

So I will refrain from calling you simplistic, confused, it's not the Cdn way - unless you are a politican. But the leaps between your suppositions. Just like Kevin. O'Leary invests in emerging markets because of the return. He's still intentionally obnoxious.

  • @MrCowtowner we might not agree on everything but I respect your conviction an knowledge, I would love to see more people become politically aware. Canada is a great country, and we are well looked after, but it's not perfect. No place is, but we can strive to improve our country and political system through dialog.

I feel that there is great trouble on the horizon and that we are in the west and developed, will not make us immune in a world so connected..

  • Our manufacturing sector has been hurt badly, partly because productivity is poor, also because of old equipment...but mainly because of the muscular Cdn $ you and I both enjoy.

It's Tunisa, Egypt and now spreading throughout the Middle East. - political unrest over dictatorships. Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Spain are democracies that have their economies ruined in the financial crisis. And I agree with you, no controls were put in place @ Wall Street to ensure it doesn't happen again.

  • 200,000 in BC making minimum wage-when you left construction you were making close to $30/hr ? With CPP and EI that pays $1600/month . The Mexican serving you in the all- inclusive resort makes a minimum of $6/day and gas there is a touch less than here. If he gets run over by a truck - does he get the free medical care you and I enjoy ? Does he get WCB coverage ? Welfare ? As Canadians we have to be careful about what we whine about, where and to who. Especially while out of the country.

  • With 500 characters - how complicated a view can one give ? Did you just catch Evan - the 'corporate taxcuts' are already legislation, voted in by Tories and Grits alike.

There is corruption in all systems - it only varies by level and degrees and consequences. If we have to vote soon ..do you think your vote won't be honestly tabulated and counted ? Have you ever witnessed ballot box stuffing in Kelowna ? Anyone try to buy your vote or threaten you ? Anyone die ? And Haiti ..??

  • @MrCowtowner Quebec will vote with the Canadian Republicans for 5 billion in aid...

  • You make great travel videos and provide information about the places you are privileged to visit. If you are now turning to political commentary - maybe you can go to these areas and find out the truth for us. The major issues facing rebuilding Haiti are corruption, lack of documentation, infrastructure. Perhaps our construction expertise could be of value there.

Let me know when you are ready to go, I'll meet you there. I always prefer to find out the truth for myself.

  • @MrCowtowner There is corruption in our political system, as for Haiti, the problem is far wider reaching then the simplistic views you present.

  • This is not Tunisa or Egypt - dictatorships, we have an elected democracy which you have the right to vote for or against. This isn't Haiti where boxes are stuffed, people are paid off, intimidated or killed when they vote. You live in a priviledged society and it still has a very vibrant economy, producing quality goods - like cars and trucks - provides a lifestyle which allows you to take your toys to the Shuswap for camping, fishing, jetskiing - like in your video here.

  • @MrCowtowner The poor are getting poorer, middle-class is being eroded as governments side with business time and again, amazing what a lobbying can achieve. More than 200,000 people in BC work for less than $10 an hour, tell them how privileged they are.

Our manufacturing sector has been shrinking for decades, we can't compete with $5 a day labor. And it's not just Tunisia and Egypt, - Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Spain and many other countries are in trouble.

  • Obama bailing out Wall Street saved the world banking system - cleaning up a mess that was started years before by his predecessors - all because of greed. The effect will be felt in the States for years - particularly in their housing market.

The country least affected by this was Canada - but we still were thrown out of work and watched our net worths plummet. We all came every close to the brink. Our parents grew up in the great depression - did you want the same for our kids ?

  • @MrCowtowner Wall Street was bailed out but no clean up has taken place, no new regulation or constraints imposed. Simple undisputed fact, Wall Street gambled, every one but Wall Street lost. To big to fail..

  • The Canadian dollar is stronger than it's been since we were kids because of the way our government runs our country, it's banking system and our money supply. It's because of the need for our natural resources that the world needs - like our oil, beef and wheat . It's the Canadian dollar that you enjoy now on your travels. It's that strong dollar that guarantees that you will have a pension when you turn 60 or 65. And Old Age Security.

  • Joe If you're going to be a political commentator you have to make sure you get the facts right. As Evan Solomon has said many times on his show - 'Canadian lack of productivity ' doesn't mean the workers aren't producing - it means the equipment they are using isn't new enough to compete. It's not the WORKER. The business tax break is 'in theory' to allow business to reinvest in jobs and equipement. Whether it is the reality depends on business.

  • @MrCowtowner I've met Evan in Jamaica, we were staying at the same resort...If we get new equipment then that will automatically mean job losses, and if you think that tax breaks will mean that the Kevin O'Leary's - I love money and greed is good, will invest in Canada vs emerging economies like Brazil, India and China then you are really confused.
