Hi! the DLSU Chorale will be having their 24th anniversary concert entitled Timeless on September 24, 2011, 7:30 pm @ the Phliam Life Auditorium U.N Ave Manila. Ticket costs Php200 and available on the day itself.
@KerenhapukhRS.. UST stands for the University Of Santo Tomas (Philippines), the oldest University in the Philippines, founded in 1611 and currently celebrating it's 400th year(qudri centennial) anniversary this year. The UST singers, just like the MADz (2 times EGP winner) of the University of the Philippines , is also a multi awarded University choir, having won the Choir of the world (llangollen) 2 times (1995 and 2010).
ugh sit dwn you stupid ppl! im srry but that was not a good performance at all-some soloist were good but i dnt evn wana make a comment on anything jst wanted to say it was a bad performance..good job for trying to learn it tho but yea
It was a great show, even though a whole auditorium full of moronic audience members started clapping like a bunch of idiots and ruining the entire thing for everyone else.
You are definetly right, Applause should be given at the end of the performance, it is ruining flow of the rendition. To avoid this it should be announce at the beginning of the concert to reserve the applause after each performance. Thank you.
its a good rendition of one day more i must say. you could also look at my videos though its not that perfect maybe you could get some ideas. just helping here. look at this video "RC"-Les miserables-15 One Day More
i think, compared sa TAC performance ng Les Mis, at par ang quality... let us just be grateful that a batch of good choristers sang this.. powerful men.. superb soloists..
WOW!!!! this is really world class! as if i've heard the otiginal london cast of one day more. being a fanatic of les miserables, i must say this is one of the best rendition of the song. the one who sung the song of eponine sounds like lea salonga! BRAVO UST SINGERS!!! you will remain as one of the finest in the world!
That is a very stereotypical and racist remark that I find very offensive. Someone's race or nationality doesn't matter. They are people, that have worked hard, practiced and have a God given gift and talent and they can be anyone of any color, race, or nationality.
the performance is ok, as well as the voice quality, but not really that convincing. second, the camera guy obviously doesnt know the chronology of the performers - nawawala sya sa pagfocus ng tamang tao. third, the guy who is singing the part of Enjolras, medyo OA ang interpretation, masyadong pop ang delivery. lastly, ung illusion ng walking nila, hindi masyado na-emphasize kase naka-black sila, ive seen this being performed by the original les miz london cast in one of the Tony awards.
hmmm, maybe you are mislead by the fact that you are comparing a CHOIR from an ORIGINAL/MUSICAL CAST.
I've watched the play twice sa London at The Hague.. at hindi choral ang approach. I don't think there's something wrong in this performance, at yung sinasabi mong OA at Pop ang delivery, try to listen objectively. Thanks!
OMG OMG! Ito pala yung kanta when they had they concert here at Bataan. Na bumaba sila ng stage, OMG! Compared with Madz who had their concert a week, i guess, after UST singers her at Bataan, UST singers is more lively than Madz who are more pa-safe, i guess is the term. They're too solemn, while UST singers are, errr. the feeling of getting up your seat and clap as long as you want. ^_^
well honestly I got to hear the UST singers last year. And frankly, a powerful choir shouldn't have to rely on critics for their worth. The act of singing is in itself a risk, but that is what makes it alive. To rely on the past records would only make the choir stagnate. I am happy to say, that many of my friends find them very challenging as a choir. I at least saw them at the PhilAm life. And for sheer power, bravo.
i was not even responding to you mayflower. next time, make sure you are properly reacting to the right person so that you don't make an utter fool of yourself. with all the tours they've done, they shouldn't need a professional marketer anymore. it's just that they don't click to much with their audiences i suppose. they sound superior technically, but lack the x-factor--an intimate connection with their audience.
to anohbey: you just dont know how it feels to become part of the ust singers - and you can never understand because you never been in it. the ust singers may not be known here in the philippines but definitely they're equally respected and well known in europe and in the states, even more known than any other choir locally. being the only choir that travels the WORLD the longest, no wonder why they're more known internationally than locally. You don't know it cause you're just a local.
an exaggeration. there is no such thing as "a choir cannot be better." of course there will be something better every time. there is no such thing as perfection. besides, some local choirs are definitely better than the ust singers. the ust singers may be technically good but there is something lacking. i cannot place my finger on it. i've seen them mayflower live. i wouldn't hazard this comment if i hadn't.
(part 1) You are wrong, you really don't what you are talking about.
Perhaps I should ask when and where you have listened to them. The video is showing the UST Singers in 2002, they had been pure perfection in these years. Don't know how they sing today, different times, different singers, and so there may be periods of learning. But for minimum 10 years they have been travelling around as a world class choir, including in this concert!
(part 2) Plus: They have been elected "Choir of the world" (best choir world-wide) in 1995, they could have won this competition nearly every year. Don't compare this world-class choir with a local choir, don't be ridiculous.
you are the one who does not know what you are talking about. such naive adulation. if the ust singers is perfection personified, then why are the madrigal singers better known in world circles than ust? you also said "they could have won," the operational word being "could." They could have won, but they DIDN'T. i've seen them several times in the 90's and twice in 2003 and 2004.
Marius was too sweet! dpat may tigas yon! s part n "do i follow where she goes" sagutan nilang dalawa yun ni enjolmas, yun n yung araw ng french revolution, ganyan kb magrereact pag nagrerevolution na?... nice one valjean!
Can I say OMG?!!!Firstly, I felt the chosen piece was cheesy, having seen Les Miz many times... zzzzz...but this choir sang it so wonderfully that I felt the music! It shows you that one can find so many amazing voices within those walls of UST! You rock, guys! Thanks for making my nite.
haha, hindi sya hirap na hirap. musicale ang dating ng performance na to, kaya it requires emotion. gusto mo panoorin mo yung vid ng les miserables para makita mo kung bakit ganito ang emotions nila... tsk...
Hi to all the members of the UST Singers! You guys still sound awesome. Rico, Wilma, Gem ... diyan pa rin kayo? Musta na sa lahat ng alumni. Maestro Fidel, you're still the best! I miss you all! Rommel
I thought this was perfect, I just dislike the preference for eponine. Its too cliche since the 10th anniversary popularity, a female singer whos vocal range are similar to Lea, who I always thought had a BEAUTIFUL voice but never fit as eponine. it was too pure and vivid. Eponine was never pure overall but a victim of corruption.
They're pretty good. It just sucks the mic went out when Javert's solo started. Although I like how they arranged the Thenardier's part as the entire chorus. Bravo!
completely honestly, i (a reasonably emotionally sound young man) burst into tears watching this. you do an incredible job of a very moving piece of music, and you brought back some incredible memories and feelings from being involved in this production several years ago. special congratulations to the young man who voiced marius, and the young woman singing eponine's part.
