  • hahaha i love the fact that free lesson videos has dislikes... unappreciative bastards....lol smdh

  • @MrTsagami lol 30 people are music instructors that are losing money because people get free lessons online...

  • Good info nice vid.

  • that is pretty helpful actually, thanks =]

  • Thank you so much Shelby!

PS: (to everyone commenting on these videos) Why is everyone making sex jokes? :) lol

Granted, she is insanely HOT! But she is trying to help you, not strip down for the camera :)

  • @CallingTheNight

She should be stripping down for the cam ;]

    -More hits xD

  • I didnt know E's Could Sing In the begining!

  • She didn't tell exactly how to sing without strain

  • *SQUEEEZEEE IT* LOL xD

  • keep on pressing 1:12 lol it funneh

  • Pause at 1:40... this is how she feels when you can't sing properly... LOL!

  • I wish you were my teacher

  • I Like the E in Youtube!

  • "That things gonna be like a rock up in your mouth"

    Thats what he said.

  • lols..guys dont expect them to give any tips. best advice is to buy the singing success cds..or look at different youtube vids

  • I watched this entire video and found no tip. at all. you just told us what happens.. awesome.. i wanna learn how to sing without strain. i have an audition next week.

  • so im watchin this and i completly forgot why because shes hot!

  • don't waste your time not one tip given

  • I honestly find it it impossible to keep my larynx neutral. It's like I'm physically incapable of keeping it from moving. Like there's a secret for success that I'm just not finding.

  • @BCBtheBeastlyBeast me too!! we need to find videos on that

  • I've been singing a long time, and just recently my voice has been getting sore after I sing and I'm not sure why. I'm not doing anything different :(

  • @RobinL000 maybe singing too much? that can wear out your voice a bit. give your vocal cords some time to rest once in a while

  • actually something i can applie. thanks

  • How?

  • i think this is acc quite helpful!!! x

  • I subscribed as soon as I saw the E sing haha

  • I feel that very same tension in my neck/jaw muscles when I'm singing Flyleaf hahaha. FINALLY this video is amazingly insightful. Thank you.

  • Run across the rocks to the edge and jump into the falls below.

  • Another way to tell if your straining or forcing your voice too much is if you have to clear your throat after singing. That's mother nature tell you! lol

  • Lol Thanks For telling us How.

  • this is nice. :)

  • I think this video should be titled "What singing with strain is."

    It's not teaching us anything...

  • so I guess I can magically sing now?... no wait. I still can't. :l

  • teach us stop telling stories!

  • @TheBxbrandon7 That's how you teach. Ever heard of Aesop?

  • @TheBxbrandon7 LOL hate to say but many singing teachers are about stories and not enough about teaching... That is why I sang with no instruction for years. I have decided to stop going to singing teachers and to go to a excellent local vocal coach with a good reputation for results. These online videos and cd's even are mostly just talking and warm ups with not enough instruction on actual technique to really sing. It's a lot of bull shit hate to say.

  • like a rock in your throat.....lol

  • hmmmmmmmmm

  • Mmm...

  • OMG girl u r hot

  • Sorry to inform you SHELBY! but what your student was experiencing is called an orgasm.

  • If I were in her mouth, I'd be a rock too.

  • For some strange reason the video is in HD and it says 360p lol

  • if her last name is rollins, she must be good, right? ahah

  • This video was pointless.

  • Wait, is it normal to sing with your diaphragm but having your cords be sore afterwards?

  • Please don't waste any time on singing success it's all bs seriously. Don't worry about compression you're voice already does it, don't worry about your tongue pushing down it's a way to sound more full on high notes if you want it's not bad at all. These guys at singing success are either extremely ignorant or are sociopaths

  • @mjordan1998 These tips helped me.

  • @MiaCries What tip helped you. It's okay to over compress listen to how Kurt Cobain sings listen to "Pennyroyal tea". It's also okay if the tongue pushes down that's how Scott Weiland of stone temple pilots sings, Matchbox 20, and Creed Sings. It's also okay if theres tension in the jaw etc it's called vocal anchoring

  • 1:02

  • is there any video for nasal voice? I have little bit "nasal voice", this is what my teacher said to me, i don;t hear it much to be honest, I actually think it makes the voice sweeter. On the other hand, Callas, Streisant, and some super great singers had a naturaly nasal voice, is that a big of a problem?

    im sorry poosting this here.

  • @charisaob i know a kid at my school who has a natural nasal voice and it can effect your singing, it could stop you from singing notes for a long period of time. so maybe before you singing, breath hard, and scream at the pitch that nobody can hear.

  • uhmmm what is that muscle called.....?

  • LOL i love the beginning :)

  • OMG.....THANK YOU

  • I dont have power >.> i can sing softly and good but loud and a low pitch voice >.>

  • This isn't a problem for me mostly, but I sometimes find i get shouty and strained on the top of my register.

  • Here are 3 great tips on how to sing high. "How To Sing The High Notes - 3 Tips".

Watch it here on my Youtube page.

  • The title of this video is misleading. It should be "Why strain is bad" not "How to song without strain."

  • Tension is my middle name! Thanks Shelby!! *****

  • another way of preventing strain is to rock your head side to side chile singing, and if you start to feel your head moving upwards then you are straining.

  • @ksharky888 wow thats cool, thanks.

  • ok strain isn't good...now are you going to tell me how to prevent it?

  • ITS SOSO IMPOSSIBLE 4 ME TO SING WITHOUT STRAIN!

  • @MusicalMotions Go to a vocal coach not a singing teacher, you will get far more advanced and more customer fit advice.

  • im impressed shelby seems like business but it's fun to find out if you're curious also

  • Nice .

  • :)

  • thank you so much! learning more and more!

  • Tension is useful if used in a focused manner, strain is just gonna mess up your voice. Jesse elaborates on the difference between Tension vs. Strain which adds to what Shelby is teach us now :)

  • this really helped :D thank you

  • It's impossible to click on that red annotation.

  • @TeenyyTiny nahh. . .use fullscreen . . .

  • @TeenyyTiny No its not all you have to do is maximize the video...then you can click on it

  • wow she is probably good with that swallowing muscle... o.0

  • Is the website in the description a scam? Like where you put your email and name?

  • @poisonivy0997 Lol I hope not...I'd suggest you keep your info to yourself...don't put your stuff out there...maybe you can call them?

  • HELP ME PLEASE!!! I GET A HOARSE VOICE QUICK! I DON'T KNOW WHY EVEN WHEN I TALK FOR LIKE 10 MINS. I GET A HOARSE VOICE... WHY ???

  • @Digitizeful Record yourself talking, and then listen to how loud you are.

  • maybe christina aguilera should watch this video to ease up her stained ass vocals

  • thank you.. for the tip!!!

  • my tension is tellinq me dat ur hot ;) lmao

  • pause the vid and press 2:10

  • Not helpful, just explained 1 days worth of anatomy.

And little tips how to fix the problem, but you can't fully address everything about this and it is hard to understand how to make that one muscle relax. What, you breathe In more? Do you sing in a low volume?

  • @Karvenate i agree....and I'm wondering the same things

  • she's molten hot ♥_♥

  • @akashnai90 lol why does everyone think shes so hot?

  • @GiraffeApocalypse jeez! come on...for a coach,she's really hot...delicious ♥_♥ :P

  • @akashnai90 haha shes ok =]

  • @GiraffeApocalypse LOL...i'm sure you'll find her much more than ok if she's in front of you for real :P

  • If I'd really gotten an individual lesson from someone and had been given a demonstration, then I would have been helped very much.

  • Can u check out my video and leave a comment and suggestion to improve my vocals

  • that "e" is sooo cute

  • Sometimes I wonder where and how these amazing Singing Success vocal coaches get their information. I've watched hundreds of videos and taken dozens of lessons and still their is constantly new information I'm learning.

  • suck on my baaaaallllllllllls. that's what i sing at the beginning of all these vids.

  • Oh yeah now I think of it, I sing like that while I park my bricks in the toilet

  • 1:19 'all that tension here...'. sorry where?

  • @jasperdj HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

  • @jasperdj i think she was talking about the tension in your diaphragm or your throat. but your entire body needs to be relaxed when you sing. so she could mean the whole body too.

  • Thanks babe

  • Sweet. Thank you for the tip...never heard that one before. Keeping that muscle loose freed my voice up a lot. Instantly. Ya'll are the best there @ singing success!!!!

  • i waish i was i was the mic hugging her tits :(

  • I put presure un my stomach when i sing, is that normal?

  • @aimi360 yes thts really normal and thts good because u should have presure in your stomach

  • @aimi360 You actually shouldn't have pressure in your stomach. You can use your diaphragm for support by pulling in a little bit but you never want your stomach to be tense.

  • i think you in heaven when she handjob you :P

  • nice tit...i mean tip

  • She has a beatifull arms. \@-@/

  • : D

  • your pretty

  • Couldn't stop looking at her tits.

  • Um, so I pressed my thumb to that area and sang around a little, not utilizing any of my power but just kinda singing in my lower register and moving up everyone now and then, and it seemed to always be kinda hard but it would move around a lot like if I was singing a little higher it would shoot up a bit (I'm already practicing stuff to stop it from moving a lot) and when I was low it kinda just stayed down a little and felt like any other muscle.

  • Shelby, please be my girlfriend and sing to me every day.

  • I have never had singing lessons, yet people ask me to teach them. I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. I have alot of straining singing middle notes after a period of time. I call them 'middle notes' because low notes are fine, and belting high notes are my strength. It's that annoying low to middle range that hurts my throat after awhile, especially when covering rock music. I'm guessing my transition from the low notes is all wrong. Does anyone know what I am talking about/have any tips???

  • @michellekara I had the same problem. I found out that since I could belt high notes and give bottom to the lowest notes, my strain was due to a lack of airflow in the middle range. I used to put a lot of tension on my neck and jaw muscles to compensate for that inconsistency, but in the end it was just a matter of proper breathing. Check if that helps you out. It would be great if you could subscribe to singingsuccess TV anyways, they`ve got lots of extra tips regarding strain release.

  • @whodwellswithin oh okay, thanks for the reply. i figured it was something to do with breathing since I was finding myself out of breath. I will sign up, thanks.

  • I think she would look hot as Cat Women. I think meowing would be a good vocal exercise!

  • HOW THE HECK CAN YOU DO TOUNGE TRILLS??

  • @True Darkness Didn't she say? She said the muscles below your chin, when it's tight it means you're straining. This video doesn't tell much about that, there's another video I watched that's all about that muscle.

  • Thank you for telling us about the strain in our singing, how to tell when it's there and to notice it, but NOT how to actually get rid of it.

  • @TrueDarkness Okay no need to get angry....this is a business and they need to make some things cost money first of all and second of all to get rid of the strain look at Chris's video on singing without strain about sitting back in your chair with your chin down everything loosens up and your mind eventually clicks with that. Geesh people need to give these guys more credit see ya'll real soon I'm coming back down for more lessons!

  • YES that stupid muscle arggh it pisses me off!! I can sing well but my technique is so messed up! I do try my hardest - you know the basics, breathing diaphragm etc.. - but that muscle causes me to feel so much tension that many times I can't even sing through a song properly :( :( :(

  • @kAMuTi1986 xD

  • I have tried the thumbs in the swallowing muscle and I can never keep it completely pliable when I sing. It always tenses up whether I am singing low or high.

  • Thanks.

By the way, get a better pop filter for your mic, please.

  • @thaGiLe she has a clip on mic, with no pop filter, she just hit her mic with her hands on her shirt

  • a great way to learn how to isolate awareness of individual muscles is to practice body scan meditation. Great way to get to sleep at night too.

  • YEA UP YOURS DIGRASTIC MUSCLES.......WOOOOOHHHHHHHOOO......

  • V gd advice really helps with power and range and general well feeling after singing.. What ppl dnt get is tension with strain is bad news and compression come from slowly building the note

  • Comment removed

  • are they reading my mind

  • I LOVE YOU SHELBY, PLEASE HAVE MY BABIES!!!!!

  • @solutionsby WHOAH LMAO!

  • she kinda looks like shenae grimes (:

  • thank you so much!! im really wanting to get better at singing! :) <3

  • that was great, thanks

I also tend to use too much tension when I'm tired.

  • Nice tip
